You are welcome man. @MacPeet . Can you please give us some feedback about compatibility of critical apps ? e.g. final cut, photoshop etc? with Sierra? MacPeet
I have no final cut or photoshop, sorry, no idea I have only Affinity, this works
Theoprofil
Ok thanks for the feedback. I don't know Affinity app Edit : I just googled affinity. It has very nice reviews and it is very affordable!
owbp
Unfortunately, I won't be able to test Sierra on mine till I get a new CPU . Everyone should know that Sierra won't run on any CPU that does NOT ship with SSE4 instruction set. So I'm f**cked up with my e6600 Core2Duo . Anyway, I've got a more serious problem with my Optiplex as the PSU seems to be dead and when I see that a replacement one cost almost as much as getting a new computer, I think I let it RIP. Sorry to hear about your Optiplex's PSU, at lest it had a good life. I think you could find some no name PSU for 10 euros, but don't know if its worth the hassle. I am double f*©*£d... Both my desktops are without SSE4, Q6600 (Optiplex) and X5355(MacPro1,1).

Both my desktops are without SSE4, Q6600 (Optiplex) and X5355(MacPro1,1). Go get a e8400/8500/8600 CPU. I saw a bunch of them starting at 10 euros on eBay. They are supported by Sierra (tried yesterday on my Asus P5GC-mx/1333). As for the Xeon, there's some e5440 starting at 20 euros.
owbp
Interesting… Any link ? 10 euros would be fine Oops, sorry, you have SFF? I'm bad at french (learned english and german in school ) but ill try to find something through google translate. This is the first search on ads in my country: https://www.kupujemprodajem.com/Nestandardno-DELL-OPTIPLEX-napajanje-34569496-oglas.htm https://www.kupujemprodajem.com/Napajanje-za-Dell-Optiplex-740-24333147-oglas.htm?filter_id=75595747 I know that is not what you need (if you have SFF) but I'm sure i can find it locally, for better price, in scraps and parts stores that are in maintenance of PCs. As for the Xeon, there's some e5440 starting at 20 euros. In Macs it doesn't matter the socket as much as EFI, so 1,1 and 2,1 will boot with just few CPUs http://forums.macrumors.com/threads/mac-pro-cpu-compatibility-list.1954766/ It was a good run for 10 year old machine though... Still runs 10.11.6 Beta and Windows 10 Pro like a champ.
Theoprofil
The same for me. My dell precision hackintosh with the 2 xenon 5365 comes to an end. The same for my MacPro 1.1 I have just an optiplex 760 with a 3,06 core2 duo e 8400 and maybe it can run sierra. @Polyzargon . There are PSU of SFF here in Greece and they are really cheap ≈15 euros. The cost for the transportation is 8,70 euros if it is until 1 Kgr or 14 euros from 1 Kgr until 2 Kgr. If we consider the psu is under 1 Kgr then with maximum 24 euros i can send you a psu. I can also put a new processor inside the parcel with a Core 2 duo E7500. It is to find this processor here. You can p.m. me. I don't need commision
MacPeet
Optiplex 780 with Q9400 works great with Sierra. Is there at reasonable prices. Mac Pro is only supported 5.1 or higher
Theoprofil
Mac Pro is only supported 5.1 or higher Really why this?
owbp
Really why this? Because of Apple™ Mac pro 4,1 isn't supported but Macbook 6,1 (late 2009) is - a joke. Btw, Sierra installs without a problem on 3,1 after InstallableMachines and Distribution files edit, and on 4,1 after firmware upgrade to 5,1 (or same edit as on 3,1). MacWiesel
Hey guys, remember me? I had this weird issue with my graphics... mouse and keyboard were stuttering like hell after a power loss and a new card didn't help (Link). Well, I had another case of sudden power loss and got the same problem again. After a little trial and error I found out that the stutter stops when I remove the DSDT from the EFI folder. But of course the graphics are rudimentary without.. now I'm wondering what is happening here. I'm at loss here. Anyone an idea?
Theoprofil
1) Do you have a mouse and a keyboard connected with cables or wireless or bluetooth? Try mouse and keyboard with cables not wireless. Cheap wireless have freeze problems very often. The same if you have a not combatible bluetooth adapter 2)Put out every memory dimm and put in one memory module every 2-3 days and see if it will fixed. It hears to my ears as a memory dimm problem. Give us feedback. That's why i hated this company so much and although i have buy a lot pf geniune macs now i am on the hackintosh scene. Same thing as macpro 1.1. and 2.1 without efi 64. They want to sell new computers and they dont respect people who payed huge amount of money. Its a petty because the mac pro 3.1 hardware is very serious to run sierra. What you mean when you write "Installable machines" what file to edit ? Have a link to give us? Sorry for spamming the thread...
owbp
What you mean when you write "Installable machines" what file to edit ? Have a link to give us? Sorry for spamming the thread... <offtopic>You need to add BoardID in InstallableMachines.plist and Distribution in OSInstall.mpkg and remove your model identifier from Distribution / nonsupportModels. That was drill for 1,1 and 2,1 so far, except you don't need custom boot.efi on 3,1. I made a video showing you where they are in USB installer, but you could install it from supported Mac and just swap HDDs.</offtopic> https://youtu.be/u2A0SUSLXR8
MacWiesel
Thank your for the feedback. 1) Do you have a mouse and a keyboard connected with cables or wireless or bluetooth? Try mouse and keyboard with cables not wireless. Cheap wireless have freeze problems very often. The same if you have a not combatible bluetooth adapter I did try cable keyboard and mouse but no changes. Plus it worked for all the way up to the power loss situation. 2)Put out every memory dimm and put in one memory module every 2-3 days and see if it will fixed. It hears to my ears as a memory dimm problem. Give us feedback. I will try that soon. My experience from the last incident however tells me it's not the RAM but you are right to eliminate parts of the hardware one at a time... owbp
<off>Glad to be of help, but I'm sorry for confusion and messy video. As i saw in your post in root86.com, you can open Distribution with any text edit app, Atom just was at the top of my "open with" list, nothing else. Also what you mentioned, and i forgot to, you have to make installer with restoring BaseSystem.dmg method, not createinstallmedia. Sorry for not including Flat Package Editor too, it might be hard to find for some.</off> Flat Package Editor.zip

MacPeet
This How-To is for installation on real MacPro3,1. Not for Dell. This does not help you if your CPU does not support SSE4 (SSE4.1).
owbp
@owbp Do you think will work on my old MacPro 2.1? Or no SSE 4.1 no Honey? And REALLY THANKS FOR THE VIDEO. Highly Appreciated! You should just run through MacPeet's post, i forgot to mention PlatformSupport.plist in CoreServices... God knows what else i left out For instance, IIRC this is first time (in Sierra) that you have to delete unsupported machines from plist, it was always just adding supported ones. So the video is just for info and to get you started. Regarding SSE4, it is just the question how deep in the code it is. If deep, the patching would be useless because the machines would be very slow, but if it's used just for few things "on top of the OS" the patching will give much better results. It's question for the guys a bit more knowledgable than me...
MacWiesel
Quick one: In the process of trying to eliminate my hardware problems I restored from an earlier Time Machine backup. But that caused all kinds of troubles, main problem: Audio Injection doesn't seem to work anymore. I followed the driver installation again and again, but audio won't come back. Is that a know issue with restoring backup from TM? config.plist.txt

aldee
Hello, I have an Optiplex 790 MT i5-2500. I am attempting to install 10.11.5 on it. I have used this guide to successfully make the USB installer drive. I can get to the Clover screen but it panics after a few seconds and restarts the computer. I have attached a picture of my screen. fyi, I used the 790 clover folder and the generic.dsdt (I'm hoping to use Intel HD graphics). I have a ps2 keyboard, usb mouse, usb bluetooth, usb wifi all plugged in fyi, I have an HP 4540s Hackintosh laptop that I followed a guide to get working but that is my level of hacker... I can follow a guide someone else has made. Any help would be appreciated.
