enebasco
Greetings, I was a little confused when creating the 690 installer and ran the Post Installer on my Lenovo T410s running Maverics. What does the post installation do? Will it mess up my current installation on my T410s? I have not had much success installing El Capitan on my P690. Just a black screen. Any advise on how too move forward? Thank you.

I thought the post install was after the creation of the USB and I ran the post install on the computer (T410S) I used to create the USB installer. It was not intentional, just a mistake. I was concerned about my error damaging my install of Mavericks on the T40s. I still have had no luck installing El Capitain on my Precision 690. It boots into the Clover menu, but after selecting the OS X install I just get a black screen. I am connecting my display via VGA. Blaggah
Hey chris, I love my Precision 690. I've put a lot of work into it but it's still not perfect. The reason is, the fans are too loud. Coming from a personal computer in my room which was an old hp Compaq pavilion with dx7500 motherboard, which was reasonably quiet. Now, with this precision the fans are so loud it's becoming unbearable. Every time the computer goes to sleep, it's a relief honestly. How would I go about swapping out the fans with some quiet ones from corsair or some sort? I assume some cable modification would be required.

Blaggah
I second that Rockey lol. I wish mine was quiet like yours Chris. I'm definitely going to swap out the fans because I can't take it any longer. I'll be sure to let you know how I accomplished it. If I didn't have so many machines I'd get to it sooner. Now I'm just enjoying my intel Nuc DC53427HYE El Capitan. Blaggah
This is the sound of my Dell at start up and finishing to boot Did you try to an Adapter DVI to VGA OMG, that sounded so loud from the beginning. Where exactly do you have your precision setup? Mine is in my room so it's pretty quiet in my room so therefore, noise will be easily recognized especially if i've never had such a big machine like P690 before. Frankly speaking the fans of my dell precision 490 are horrible loudly. I try to find solutions. I will change the memory fan which is the number one suspect for the noise with some second hands i own. Of course i must cut the original cables and make modifications. Also in my mind i have a water cooling solution. You can stay here of course What is the exact specs? Thanks for the hosting! Specs: one only one XEON 5160 (Yes just one processor at the time), Nvidia GT610 1024MB, 4 GB RAM 633 DDR2, SSD 240 PATRIOT BLAST, HDD 160 GB WD 7200 8MB CACHE, HDD 1T WD 7200 RPM 64MB Cache, HDD 1T Seagate 7200RPM 64MB Cache, Firewire 1394 (original Dell) PCI card, DVD ROM HL DATA STORAGE (original Dell). 1st question: Have anybody try a hackintosh with 2 Xeons 5365? 2nd question:I have QE/CI with VGA cable. With HDMI cable either i have not QI/PC or if i change config.plst i have black screen at the time the video kext are loading. Can somebody tell me the settings for the config.plst for HDMI with full QE/CI for my card? P.S. NVIDIA GT 610 is a rebranded NVIDIA GT 520 P.S.2 Sleep mode with VGA works perfect. I never tried with HDMI.
