UnDeaDAmP
Okay, so i've had a stable hackintosh going on Clover UEFI for about a month or two now. It dual boots windows 8.1 and OS X Yosemite 10.10.2. Now that the update for Yosemite has been released, I really wanna make a partition on my hard drive for backing up my current Installation of yosemite. I have Yosemite on a separate 120 GB SSD, and windows 8.1 installed on a 1TB hard drive. How would I accomplish this? Thank you. MacUser2525
Open Disk Utility in the Utilities folder select your SSD install drive click on the partition option while selected in the drop down select two partitions this will split it in half click the apply button for it to do it. Once completed either use SuperDuper, Carbon Copy Cloner or boot into your recovery partition if you have it to use Disk Utility to clone your install while it is not running. With Disk Utility you choose the already installed as the source in the Restore option new partition as Destination then apply to have it do its thing the SD and CCC allow you to do this from a live running system. But i would like to clone it to my windows hard drive for a backup partition... I mean, yes it is installed on the SSD, but is there any way to partition the Hard drive for a small 120gb partition for an OS X backup? Sure there are windows resizing programs you can use one of them, now I think that version of windows only installs on a GUID partitioned drive if not there can be problems on MBR drive. Once you have resized and created second partition hopefully it is compatible with OSX then do the cloning as I described above. Edit: make sure the new partition is fat32 or exfat formatted not ntfs.
