skiabox
I downloaded the windows 10 technical preview iso and then I burned it to a usb stick using my macbook pro's Boot Camp Assistant. The problem is that when I am trying to use it on my sony vaio vgn-fw12z laptop (I had set in the bios to boot first from usb) I only get a blinking cursor. Any ideas? Thank you. mnfesq
I'm not sure why you would want to use Boot Camp Assistant to make your USB installer. Take a look at this and see if it helps: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/windows-usb-dvd-download-tool Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/305358-i-cant-install-windows-10-technical-preview-from-usb-stick/#findComment-2123875 Share on other sites

redneck
Windows 10 is UEFI _WX just like OSX. has to be installed on GUID. I think Windows 10 only install from DVD ,unless you upgrade or burn to usb with windows to make it bootable. you need to install on 2nd drive, OSX first. 2 or 3 options 1: Try to convert ISO to cdr and burn it. 2: copy ISO to usb and burn to dvd with windows PC 3: get a copy of Win_XP portable. I have a usb with win XP portable > saved me many times. Graebags
If you have a working Mac OS X machine and DVD burner, get a copy of Simply Burns (Mac) or whatever you use, and burn the ISO direct to dvd as per attached example. Alternately get a friend to make the usb or dvd installer on their machine, maybe? 1. On the Simply Burns 'Starting Points' screen choose Burn Image. SB_iso1.tiff 2. Select your ISO image and DVD burner and click Burn. SB_iso.tiff Good luck.
