schwarzgrau
After an annoying time using a wifi dongle I decided to switch to a new wifi card. Unfortunately the link MacTabletMan posted in his first post isn't working anymore and you can't see the name of the mentioned card ( https://partstore.com/Part/Lenovo/Lenovo/20200480/Refurbished.aspx ) His blog seems to be down too ( http://thinkinginteraflops.blogspot.com/ ) The same for a chart ChuppieJones mentioned for choosing the right card ( https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Wg4xt_k_fv9UfucFyCJy0Nt-kUe9MMuWYiD2aCD80DU/pub?gid=1 ) BUT lucky enough ChuppieJones also mentioned, that E NGFF 2230 seems to be a good choice, which uses a BCM94352Z chipset. I found this one on AliExpress which has the same chipset. Can someone confirm this one could at least fit the Cintiq Companion?
Odiolitos
Hi! I changed mine last summer, and it worked perfect. Had to ditch the hackintosh project, as it wouldn't recognise the cloned partition, but the card did work from the USB, so you should have no problems.
schwarzgrau
The card did work from the USB? Did you also use one with the BCM94352Z chipset? And do you remember if it had the same form factor?
Odiolitos
Yup, it worked without having to install anything new (as far as I remember, I gave up hackintoshing this baby six months ago...) from the USB. It did use that chipset, and regarding form factor... I'd say it's the very same I got. It was a breeze after having installed the hard drive and RAM, so I'd say go for it!
Mahmoodz
Hello, Thanks for this awesome project. I installed OS X Yosemite successfully. It loaded the first time (it was slow, i run a i3 cintiq companion 2), now when I boot it shows the logon screen but then loops forever when I try to login to my account. My question for this is: Is it possible to upgrade the Processor to i7 in companion 2? if yes can you please give links what processor to buy? (I am a complete noob). I watched a tutorial on youtube on how to make the OS boot without the need to have the installer usb plugged in (Right now it doesn't load until I plug it in) tutorial: My question: should this work on this setup as well? What can I conclude about the Wifi card? Should I get a dongle? or a new wifi card? or is there a workaround? Thanks again for this awesome project. Much appreciated Edited September 22, 2018 by Mahmoodz
xinku
Thank you so much. I was pretty tempted to go and buy a second drawing tablet companion 2 a few weeks back . Yeah 1000 USD is pretty steep for a second workmachine. I'd rather wait maybe later this year or next year for a better, more affordable unit (such as a Pen Display Graphic Drawing Tablet XP-Pen Artist 15.6 Pro ) . Even a more customizable one is something to look forward to like changing ram / ssd without breaking the unit.
