bogdangepe
I have a laptop, Lenovo y510p with 4th Gen Intel Core i7-4700MQ (2.4GHz 1600MHz 6MB). When i render in Final Cut, processor must load at 80-100%. On my laptop load up to 22%. I used mach_kernel for processors with chameleon bootloader. mach_kernel is made by RehabMan. What is the problem? Proc.tiff
Allan
You configured your power management correctly? Power management for Sandy/Ivy Bridge/Haswell CPUs
bogdangepe
You configured your power management correctly? Power management for Sandy/Ivy Bridge/Haswell CPUs I think that is configured ok. kernel kext, DSDT, SSDT etc. are not made by me. Interesting is that in Geekbench 3 CPU reach up to 75%
Allan
You can try use MacBookPro10,1 SMBios, and update your OS X to the last version 10.9.5 PS: Download the Combo Update
ahmed_ais
I am not an expert but I want to mention something. Final Cut is a demanding software and its performance relies on CPU, GPU, RAM, and Disk R/W speed so not only CPU counts. Moreover, you did not mention on which computer you used to get 80-100% CPU load because if you mean a different computer then you have to list its specs as well. I did a little search and found this benchmark which seems useful: You can see, same MBP with same CPU but different GPU resulted in worst results when rendering using Intel Iris Pro. Imagine you are using a worst GPU than Iris Pro and with slow HDD instead of SSD which will bottleneck reading/writing !! When slower GPU is busy rendering and slow HDD is busy writing the CPU will stay free for longer times than usual. Read this too, the guy have a similar problem. My analysis may be wrong, just thoughts while searching around the problem.
bogdangepe
At work I edit on a Mac Pro with 2 processors 3GHz quad-core intel xeon, 10.6.5, 4 Gb ram 800mhz ddr2, 256MB video card. In Geekbench 3 has a score of 4000. The laptop has i7 quad-core 2.4GHz up to 3,4 / 8 threads / 12gb Ram 1600mhz ddr3, hard disk sshd. I work in Final Cut Pro 7, not in Final Cut Pro X, may be is a difference, I do not know. I know it uses CPU and RAM. Sony Vegas, Premier Pro I knew that using video card, I could be wrong P.S. Hmm, i transcode a video in adobe media encoder and CPU stand at 91%. I think it is something from Final Cut. Thanks for the replies This means that power management is configured correctly? If I update to 10.9.5 bootloader has issues. Something like kernel___couldn't find symbol ___ Many errors of this type. I will try Final Cut Pro 7 on 10.10.2 and see how it goes there. Allan
For your hardware i recommend use Clover bootloader.
bogdangepe
Same problem also in the 10.10.2 P.S. Clover bootloader 2953 all files(kernel kext, DSDT, SSDT etc.) are from Ahmed Salah AIS
Riley Freeman
It looks like FCP is using your 4 cores but not the other 4 threads from Hyperthreading. I get that with my X79 build as well. Some apps (benchmarks especially) utilise all threads while some ignore those added via HT.
bogdangepe
Yes, threads are at 0 10.9.0 / 10.10.2. Can anything be done?

Allan
For your hardware UEFI is the best. In Chameleon you try enable -xcpm mode? And please don't use DSDT/SSDT from another machine, maybe it's because that's what their states is not executed correctly. (100% sure)

I changed SMBIOS data, ROM, MLB. I will try -xcpm. When i get home i will take a look, ok? There is nothing to do, FCP does not work on multiple threads. https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/8/977527 The laptop is configured ok. Who has problems, can export with Compressor. That using all threads.
