jesusrop
Hi! My computer has some random problems waking from sleep. If the sleep time is short it's OK, but if i let it sleep for some hours it will reset A FEW SECONDS AFTER waking up correctly (I even have time to open a finder window or something simple like that). The computer does not shut down. It behaves like if the reset button in the case was pressed. I have tried both mavericks and yosemite for this and both behave the same. The install is as clean as possible, so only added kext for the LAN (RTL8111), do the ALC892 AppleHDA patching with Clover and installed the nVidia web drivers. I use clover 3050 with the config below. Could you give me some hints on debugging this? Below some info about the system: syslog output arround the event (ntice the date change to locate): Dec 15 21:56:25 iMac-de-Jesus kernel[0] <Debug>: Previous Sleep Cause: 5 Dec 15 21:56:25 iMac-de-Jesus kernel[0] <Debug>: The USB device USB Receiver (Port 8 of Hub at 0x14000000) may have caused a wake by issuing a remote wakeup (2) Dec 15 21:56:25 iMac-de-Jesus kernel[0] <Debug>: full wake (reason 1) 26 ms Dec 15 21:56:25 iMac-de-Jesus.local WindowServer[116] <Warning>: handle_will_sleep_auth_and_shield_windows: NULL shield_window (lock state: 1) Dec 15 21:56:25 iMac-de-Jesus.local WindowServer[116] <Warning>: CGXDisplayDidWakeNotification [796904170088]: posting kCGSDisplayDidWake Dec 15 21:56:25 iMac-de-Jesus.local sandboxd[429] ([336]) <Notice>: netbiosd(336) deny file-read-metadata /private/var/empty Dec 15 21:56:28 iMac-de-Jesus kernel[0] <Debug>: Ethernet [RealtekRTL8111]: Link up on en0, 1-Gigabit, Full-duplex, flow-control Dec 15 21:56:28 iMac-de-Jesus.local configd[18] <Notice>: LINKLOCAL en0: parent has no IP Dec 15 21:56:28 iMac-de-Jesus.local configd[18] <Notice>: network changed: v4(en0-:192.168.1.3) DNS- Proxy- Dec 15 21:56:28 iMac-de-Jesus.local netbiosd[336] <Notice>: network_reachability_changed : network is not reachable, netbiosd is shutting down Dec 15 21:56:30 iMac-de-Jesus.local HWMonitor[412] <Warning>: ATA block storage device appeared 37635 Dec 15 21:56:30 iMac-de-Jesus.local HWMonitor[412] <Warning>: ATA block storage device appeared 37891 Dec 15 21:56:30 iMac-de-Jesus.local HWMonitor[412] <Warning>: ATA block storage device appeared 38147 Dec 15 21:56:30 iMac-de-Jesus.local HWMonitor[412] <Warning>: ATA block storage device appeared 38403 Dec 15 21:56:30 iMac-de-Jesus.local HWMonitor[412] <Warning>: ATA block storage device appeared 38659 Dec 15 21:56:30 iMac-de-Jesus.local HWMonitor[412] <Warning>: ATA block storage device appeared 38915 Dec 15 21:56:30 iMac-de-Jesus.local HWMonitor[412] <Warning>: reading SMART data for ST3500418AS --- last message repeated 1 time --- Dec 15 21:56:30 iMac-de-Jesus.local HWMonitor[412] <Warning>: reading SMART data for Samsung SSD 840 EVO 120GB Dec 15 21:56:30 iMac-de-Jesus.local HWMonitor[412] <Warning>: reading SMART data for Samsung SSD 840 EVO 250GB Dec 15 21:56:30 iMac-de-Jesus.local HWMonitor[412] <Warning>: reading SMART data for Samsung SSD 840 Series Dec 15 21:56:32 iMac-de-Jesus.local configd[18] <Notice>: network changed: v4(en0+:192.168.1.3) DNS+ Proxy+ SMB Dec 15 21:56:38 iMac-de-Jesus.local AirPlayUIAgent[302] <Notice>: 2014-12-15 09:56:38.202756 PM [AirPlayUIAgent] Changed PIN pairing: no Dec 15 21:56:38 iMac-de-Jesus.local AirPlayUIAgent[302] <Notice>: 2014-12-15 09:56:38.212446 PM [AirPlayUIAgent] Changed PIN pairing: no Dec 15 21:59:09 iMac-de-Jesus.local mds[85] <Error>: (Warning) Volume: vsd:0x7fe3040a8600 Open failed. failureCount:6 { DisabledRecycleCount = 6; } Dec 15 22:02:25 iMac-de-Jesus.local secd[272] <Error>: SecErrorGetOSStatus unknown error domain: com.apple.security.sos.error for error: The operation couldn’t be completed. jacekg
I had very similar problem on Acer V5-572P-6417. I was blaming firmware uploader for BCM94352 HMB/AzureWave AW-CE123H I installed. The problem was really caused by GenericUSBXHCI.kext. After removing it I can hibernate and wake up from hibernation using hibernatemode=57. WiFi works without any problem and bluetooth wakes up couple seconds later and pairs with the mouse and my headphones. Currently I am on Clover 3050 I compiled myself. I used Toleda's quide to make CE123H work.
jesusrop
So since the first post I removed the nVidia graphics and now I use the stock drivers with the freezefix app. The computer still self-resets though, but this time I got a crash report (attached). @jacekg: I'm not using the GenericXHCI.kext that caused your problems, but thanks for the help! Any clue? Thank you! Crash report.rtf
jacekg
Have you tried to add '-gux_defer_usb2' to Clover boot arguments? In my case I can use hibernatemode 0 or 57. With hibernatemode=3 I get KP when my laptop sleeps overnight.
jesusrop
Hi jakecg, that didn't help either I have no problems with hibernation... the machine never hibernates. It wakes correctly from sleep and a few seconds later it resets like if someone preset the hard reset button in the case. Any clue??
jesusrop
Finally I nailed it down to mainly a memory hardware problem. Changed one memory stick and now it's sleeping like a baby. I also had to disable S6/S7 in the BIOS (althoug my PSU is certified for Haswell)
martin_weiss
I am having similar issues, that I have a hard time solving. Could you please tell me which RAM sticks you were using when you had the problem, and which RAM sticks you are using now?
xenophon
Make sure you have HFSPlus-64.efi (and not the plain, 32-bit version), in drivers64 of your Clover EFI partition. I think this may have been relevant to my troubles, at least. HTH Xen
