Unlocker 2.0.7 has a firmware directory, and the readme has instructions to install to provide support for the non Server version of Snow Leopard media, only Snow Leopard Server is supported by VMware due to the Apple EULA. Please note the firmware option is now degraded and not offered as part of unlocker 2.0.8. Donk is looking at a new method to support non server media of Snow Leopard, watch this space.

It is also for an earlier version of Fusion (7) and can cause errors in Fusion 8 where VM dopes not boot.

hello guys,

hopefully someone can help me or point me in the right direction. ive found one post on here where someone is having the same issue as i am but he didnt get a response. im currently using an esxi 6 whitebox, vanilla with no updates, and ive tried installing unlocker 208 with no success. i have followed the instructions and keep receiving 'file not found" error by running "./esxi-install.sh" if i run the command via "sh ./esxi-install.sh" i get this error "./esxi-install.sh: set: line 2: illegal option" im sure i can get it to work if i run every single command within the esxi-install.sh script file manually, but would rather do it this way for ease of install since i might be doing this to multiple esxi servers in the future. someone please help. btw, i have all files with the correct execute permissions, still same errors.

Hi, I have a question:

With a VMware Workstation 11 VM, I see the message:  "3D acceleration is not supported in this guest operating system".

Is OpenGL support even possible?

Does it require Workstation 12?  A settings tweak?

Thanks in advance for any knowledge you're willing to share.

Just a guess but it's likely a bash script, not a sh script. Is the script executable? maybe something is wrong with your download?

I've been fighting with a new (to me) esxi 6 server setup.   Hanging at boot with any OSX VMs (HW version 10, newly made VM, cloned from another working setup, booted from local ISO, netboot). I tried manually editing vmx for a few fixes, etc, but nothing worked.  Was hanging just after setting root device.  vmware.log showed that the CPU was being shut down by the OS.

The only way I could get it working properly was by using this tweak listed here:  http://www.toughdev.com/viewpost.php?id=1196190783959654972&t=0&v=1#s0

It was for a CPU ID Mask change ... basically adding this to your vmx file:

cpuid.1.eax = "0000:0000:0000:0001:0000:0110:1010:0101"

Is there something I'm missing on my config?  The machine is an HP DL580 G5 and I'm running the latest patches for their custom HP ESXi 6.0.0 U2 install ( VMware ESXi, 6.0.0, 3620759, HPE-ESXi-6.0.0-Update2-iso-600.9.5.0.48).

Everything is working with no issues on another box (Dell r900) so wondering if this is a bug/corner case or somehow I've messed up something ... I tried both 2.07 and 2.08 versions of unlocker.  I'm wondering if the processors in this machine are something that maybe OSX can't deal with natively or something (6 core Xeon L7455  @ 2.13GHz)?

If it's a bug or corner case happy to help figure out how to patch this and test.

Thanks for the awesomeness that is unlocker 2! :)

Hi,

Thanks for your awesome work!

I was running osx lion (10.7.2) in vmware workstation 8 using unlocker 1.03 without any problems.

Today after long hesitation I upgraded for some other reason to vmware workstation pro 12.

I ran uninstall-cmd for unlocker 1.03 and ran install-cmd for unlocker 2.08 as admin.

The osx lion vm does not boot properly (only black screen)...

I'm using windows 7 64bit host system. Looks like a display problem and the the VM8 is somehow not compatible to run in Workstation 12

Any ideas ?

edit: I can boot the vm to safe mode and then log in. osx lion than runs normally... so obviously a problem in vmware workstation 12 not handling screen resolution correctly... very BAD !

edit2: After upgrading the VM from 8 to 12 hardware compatibility the issue is gone. conclusion: workstation 12 does not handle display resolution compatibility to vm8 correctly !

What language are you running on Windows 10? The unlocker uses PyInstaller which has previously had issues with certain languages.

EDIT`:

Known issue with Python. Can you run this command in the cmd window first and then try the unlocker:

chcp 850

I'm about to lose my mind.

I have ESXI 6 U2, OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard shrink wrap...  I've run the Unlocker 2.08 from an ssh connection.

Yet for the life of me I cannot get OS X to boot.  The ESXI console will show the apple symbol for about 1 second, then go blank, then go back to a VMware blank screen that says "Waiting for connection".

Since I get the Apple logo briefly, my attached ISO must be "healthily" burned as a bootable ISO.

I can't figure out what the heck is going on.  Can someone give me some pointers?

Hi,

I am trying to install OS X 10.11 on a ESXi on a HP Proliant Micro Server Gen8.

The OS X starts to boot but stuck at about 3/4 of the loading bar.

Attached you find the vmware.log and the vmx.

Thanks in advance!

King Regards Fabian

AMD CPU? No way. I am using a HP Proliant as well but couldn't find any solution to run OS X on it. I know there are customized images for AMD but haven't been able to get anything working yet.

I am running ESX 6.0 update 2. The 2.08 unlocked worked great and I can select the different versions of OS X however during first boot of El Captain to do the install it hangs as well on the Apple Logo about 50% of the way. I am using an Intel NUC. Anyone have any ideas?

This script does not work when not executed from the same drive letter as VMware installation path on Windows.

Running

D:\win-install.cmd

does NOT work when VMware is installed in

C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\

.

This should not be true, if you start an elevated command prompt, and navigate to the location of the extracted unlocker script, and run from the location with win-install.cmd it will work regardless of the location of the script in relationship to the VMware installation.

I haven't time to test a macOS guest against 12.6 Workstation, but it does patch the code as before. If someone has time to try it let me know please. New VM drop down now has macOS 12 in the list.

UPDATE 1: Still need smc.verison = "0"

UPDATE 2: Installing macOS 10.12 OK

UPDATE 3: All working as expected

This unlocker tool doesn't work at all for me, this is what I have done:

1. Installed the newest -> VMware-player-12.5.0-4352439.exe and running win-install.cmd (as admin) - No apple option.

2. Uninstalled and replaced with VMware-player-12.0.0-2985596.exe and running win-install.cmd (as admin) -> still can't see any apple option.

When starting the win-install.cmd - command prompt shows up and closes very quickly (instead of listing the changes!?).

Do you have any suggestion what to do?

Programs are on the some drive, VMware is in the default Program Files (x86)\VMware folder, unlocker208 is in the \Downloads.

Don't double click but open a command prompt with administrator privileges. Then run the win-install.cmd and you should see the output. Also what OS and locale?

OS is Win10 64bit english.

Tried in command prompt as well, having the same and it closes immediately. Once I could catch the output by pressing pause before closing:

Using VMWare Workstation 12.5.

ran the install and Tool update.

When I install EL-Capitan it does not see a Hard drive to install to just the DVD. I assume it is in the definition of the VMX.

Any Ideas?

thanks

Have a look at the following link it will give you all the information you should need for a successful installation.
