Yep - i messed up and will have to check out what is wrong with the code. I accidentally shipped a new set of code rather than just 2.0.2 plus the firmware folder. Just use 2.0.2 for now.

BTW - just rename .log as .txt and you can attach rather than post inline.

Hey guys, I have a problem with Unlocker. When I try to run the script "win-install.cmd" it says "Administrator privileges required!", even after running it as an Administrator or even from cmd (too as an Administrator).

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit on an Intel laptop.

What could I be doing wrong?

Running as Administrator is not the same as running with administrator privileges when UAC is on. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/cc947813%28v=ws.10%29.aspx

Unlocker 2.0.3 in Linux (Ubuntu 14.04.1) vmxsmc.py has in "osname == 'linux'" section of main():

vmwarebase = 'libvmwarebase.so.0'

and no patch is done and can't select "Apple". Changing to:

vmwarebase = vmwarebase_path + 'libvmwarebase.so.0'

patches successfully and makes Apple selectable.

Yep that's the code error -  fixed. 2.0.4 is done but haven't had time to do much due to a family illness. Should be posted over the weekend.

Hello.

My system is Win8.1 and I tried to install unlocker2.0.3 with administrator privilege.

Then a dialog poped out and said that vmxsmc.exe has already stopped working.

I don't know why.

I've tried unlocker 2.0.2 and the problem still exists.

Thanks a lot for this solution!

I've succesfully done the VMW Fusion 7.1 install and the unlocker203 install. Moved the EFI file and edited the .vmx file as written.

Am I right to assume "guest folder" means the package contents of the .vmwarevm file of the VM? Or is it somewhere else?

Goal:
Removing the rectalogic (see below) solution to avoid the problems following crashes of the VM.

Before I remove the ServerVersion.plist and the launchdaemon named com.rectalogic.vmware.plist from the system, I would be glad to be able to verify everything is ready for it; that is the replacement EFI is working. Can it be done - and how?

Edit: A new question has arisen. I added the 64-bit EFI firmware replacement - Guest OS System Profiler tells me it's running in 64-bit, but VMWF tells me the guest OS is 32-bit. (Settings>General). Could it be that it's my rectalogic solution (which tells it, it's a server) that is responsible for this behavior?

----------------
Setup: Host MacBook Pro running 10.9 (soon 10.10) with VMware Fusion 7.1 running an already installed 10.6.8 guest OS (with the rectalogic solution http://blog.rectalogic.com/2008/08/virtualizing-mac-os-x-leopard-client.html)

I have successfully installed VMware tools (something I never succeeded earlier).

Couple of quick fixes:

  • Added stop and start of VMware View USB Service to Windows batch files
  • Fixed broken GOS Table patching on Linux

Thanks. Working perfect on VMWare Workstation V11.0

Hi,

a general question regarding the Unlocker V2.

Previously I was using Unlocker V1.3 with ESXi 5.5

I can see that with V2 you say no support for ESXi 6.

Is ESXi support not working for all versions, or just ESXi 6?

Don't have a need to update. but just wondering if and what would be the difference between the V1 and V2 of the Unlocker.

Many thanks,

Christian

V2 only supports the latest versions of VMware products Workstation 11, Fusion 7 and Player 7. If I can make it work also ESXi 6 but that looks to be unpatcheable at the moment. All the previous versions of the VMware products are supported by V1 and remain supported by me. The V1 unlocker is unlikely to be updated but it remains valid for ESXi 5.5.

Hello,

I have a problem with OSX Mountain Lion and Mavericks. I skip this error when starting the vm (vmware11) with unlocker 2 to 2.0.4:

VMware Workstation unrecoverable error: (vcpu-0)

vcpu-0: VERIFY vmcore / vmm / main / physMem_monitor.c: 1123

A log file is available in "F: \ VM \ vmware \ Mac OS X 64-bit Lion10.8 mountain \ vmware.log".

You can request support.

To collect data to submit to VMware support, choose "Collect Support Data" from the Help menu.

Also You can run the "vm-support" script in the Workstation folder directly.

We will answer-on the basis of your support entitlement

Any suggestions?

So, i'm trying to install Yosemite 10.10.1 (host is Win8.1 Pro VL x64 with a Haswell 4770K)

I'm using OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 (14B25) bootable USB (DMG File) [5.29 GB]

I installed VMware WS 11 > ran unlocker 2.0.3 > converted 'OS X Base System.dmg' to .iso using http://vu1tur.eu.org/tools/ > create a vm using default settings > smc.version = "0" added to .vmx file

When i power up, it gives this:

Error: http://i.imgur.com/aYREYH9.png ||| http://i.imgur.com/cyHZ0CP.png

Log: http://pastebin.com/hKvsHvBx

When '2015-01-06T15:41:42.632-02:00| vmx| I120: GuestRpcSendTimedOut: message to toolbox-dnd timed out.' pops in the log the error come out

What can it be?

Sorry for my bad english

Thanks :)

I have this exact problem. I have set the smc thing to 0 and changed hardware to 10 but I still get this.

Is this some DMG from a Torrent site? If so I would not recommend that, get the vanilla retail installer and build tour own. The issue is many of these downloads have all manner of {censored} added to them and rarely work in VMware. Secondly, it is also possible the image you created from the DMG is not bootable. Again I only support the unlocker with Retail images of OS X. FYI - there is no VMware error here, it is a problem inside the guest whilst it is booting.

It is bootable, that I know.

I went to the Mac Store but saw no option of downloading a Yosemite installer. I run Windows on a custom PC.

Well just try using the DMG file directly. Workstation 11 knows how to mount them as a CD. However I can't help much more than that as it is not the unlocker causing the problem.

Thank you for you help. At least now I know the unlocker works. :)

EDIT: Oh and FWIW I booted up a Mavericks guest and will download Yosemite straight from iTunes so as to avoid shady hacks and whatnot. Will see how that goes.

I've got VMware Player 7.0.0 installed on an AMD 8350 (virtualization enabled via BIOS) running 64 bit Windows 7. I'm not seeing the option when using the install later option. Besides the stats file not existing there aren't any errors that I can see. I just get the "The CPU has been disabled by the guest operating system. Power off or reset the virtual machine." error message if I use the "Other 64" option. I'm not sure what else to try at this point? I've attached the installer results and the VMware log.

Apparently I can't attach two files so here is the installer log for your Windows command file...

You cannot boot OS X on an AMD CPU as Apple does not support them. You will need to create an installer with an AMD kernel built from the open source XNU code from Apple. There are topics on this forum on doing this.
