If I disabled from bios in Windows I have only Intel HD. When I try to load maverick, yosemite even El Capitan appears in boot(-v). The problem is hardware because I tried with older files when maverick and yosemite works. I deleted hole files, because i tried everything, don't work and that is. Thanks for hole support. I gone made a desktop. :)

I got nothing more to add, sorry for your problems and I wish you all the luck with the upcoming desktop B)

I'm not on my mac, so can't check right now. You can try to patch DSDT once again and use proper config.plist (the one to use AFTER installing). Don't forget FakePCID kexts.

Installed System's Clover config.plist (This have everything you need and somethings you may not need. It lacks SMBIOS details so you just need to enter that on your own (so serial numbers are not shared):

is that somthing nessasery  that i have to do to the config.plist?

No. Should not.

Very. Use "Clover Configurator" to edit the plist and add SMBIOS details.

For those who follow this brilliant guide update to 10.11.4 will be painless) However there is 1 thing that you will have to do - fix your broken audio.

AppleHDA in version 10.11.4 now requires new OSBundleLibraries:

com.apple.iokit.IOACPIFamily 1.2.0a1
com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily 1.1

So if you use Y510p-OSX-AppleHDA from Audio section 6.2.1, (or any other dummyKext for audio) then:
1) go to S/L/E folder,
2) copy AppleHDA282.kext (or any dummyKext that you are using for audio) to Desktop
3) right click on it -> Show package content
4) open Info.plist in Contents folder with a text editor
5) add this lines:
<key>com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily</key>
<string>1.1</string>
<key>com.apple.iokit.IOACPIFamily</key>
<string>1.2.0a1</string>

just below

<key>OSBundleLibraries</key>
<dict>

6) save it
7) install this updated AppleHDA282.kext with EasyKext Utility

8) reboot

So even if you use patched AppleHDA then you should just repatch it to include this new libraries.

enjoy!

I did not attempt to test hibernation on this laptop and I will never try. Hibernation by design copies RAM content to storage before powering off then restoring from storage to RAM upon wake. This is a disaster for those who boot of SSD (like me) as it decrease the SSD life drastically and is recommended against not just for OS X but for any other OS.

Great tip @ahmed_ais;)

Thanks for sharing this. I will update the Y510p-OSX-AppleHDA to accommodate this but I can't test. I'm away from any broadband source and I did not update to 10.11.4 because of this.

Would you kindly post the original AppleHDA.kext from 10.11.4?

Yes I suspected that. Those who had a working AppleHDA dummy kext under 10.11.3 will need to make the new changes OR to recreate the dummy kext again after upgrade. Upon recreating the dummy kext under 10.11.4, the new required libraries will be included by default since they should exist in the new untouched AppleHDA.kext. I was not sure though as I did not upgrade yet and I don't have the new kext to take a look.

Thanks for the tip. Care to share the untouched AppleHDA.kext from 10.11.4 update? I would appreciate it!

Yes, new AppleHDA already contains this lines, so you can just re-apply script for sure, I realised it after I had posted my message.

That's great .. I wish I knew this earlier because I already prepared an update the script to include the new change but now it's not needed at all, waste of time  :( .

At least we still have a stable system which survived all the updates to El-Capitan without a problem, that's good.

AppleHDA the highest sound level is too low. Is there a setting for this?

I don't have an answer that involve a setting at the moment but I believe you should try Boom (it's not free but there is a trial version) !!

Editing AppleHDA is more sufficient. I believe there's a "Boost" key which will help increasing the volume

Thanks, I tried to search for that key but I only found that it can give more amp to mic, not for sound output though.

Update:

I just came across this page where toleda said that "OS X does not support access to the amplifier" so I guess additional software is needed to boost audio output. I wonder, though, about the "Input Gain" feature in VoodooHDA which actually boost audio output volume. I'm not sure if there is a patch we can implement for AppleHDA binary to achieve the same thing.

Hello,

I have managed to get everything working now. In my "About This Mac" it states Intel Graphics 4600 1536 MB. I just want to ask are people still getting a lot of glitching when:

  • the password to entered and you log in (looks like an old tv tuning into a station)
  • when using Google Chrome (flickering)
  • using youtube (flickering on controls and questionable video quality)

I was wondering if this is the best that can be done for now or have I missed something?

Thanks

EDIT: Sorted it, forgot to add FakePCIID.kext. Finally it is working!!!
