vivo2016
Hi All, I've managed to do the impossible: I can now boot Yosemite Installer 10.10 over the internet (hackintosh) What I needed: ----------------- - usb stick with ipxe.usb on it (www.ipxe.org , download 'ipxe.usb' @ http://boot.ipxe.org and put it on a usb stick with DD command) - a booter.iso file of 2 gb for booting chameleon & kexts (unfortunately Clover will not work with IPXE) - A vanilla Yosemite.dmg (compressed, 5,71 gb). Well I just used a 8 gb usb stick and put InstallESD.dmg on it then make a new compressed .dmg image with disk-utility of the usb stick. - Compatible system & network card for hackintosh. I've put in AtherosL1, Marvell 88e8056, Realtek8111 in the .iso file for bootsupport. - Synology nas with webserver/webstation enabled to host the .iso & the Yosemite.dmg (any webserver would be fine). - I needed to download the XNU kernel source from Apple and rewrite and recompile the kernel to be able to "netboot" off non-apple network cards. - The kernel has also been patched for Haswell (early reboot). So how does it work? ------------------------- - You boot the ipxe usb stick and go into the ipxe shell (press cmd+B when it tells you). There you type 2 commands dhcp sanboot http://x.x.x.x/Netboot.iso - sanboot will boot the iso of the webserver and then loads Chameleon, (my modified) Kernel & kexts - Kernel starts the netboot process and will load/netboot the Vanilla Yosemite.dmg - After some time you'll be in the Yosemite installer. - Afterwards you'll need a usb stick with clover on it to boot your disk with Yosemite installed , because it's vanilla it does not have any bootloader on it. I won't post my iso link here because that would maybe flood my server even though I have a 500/500 mbit connection. Anybody want to test this, PM me. Questions? ------------- Please ask me. vivo2016
I have just made an image of a working OSX86 hackintosh installation on an asus pc. A compressed .dmg of the boot disk with disk utility. Now the .iso i made earlier can also boot this image. A complete working OSX version booting over the internet. You do not even need a harddisk in your computer (if your connection is fast enough). kvonlinee
So what is the purpose of this to boot over internet? vivo2016
No real purpose, just wanted to know if it was possible and it is. A usb stick is of course better but if someone I know that wants a hackintosh he can boot ipxe and i can adapt the booter iso in case it would not work. kvonlinee
You have a good sample here. The real mac corrupt osx and need to restore, it would connect to apple server and redownload and install osx. In the hack world, I did not see any thing, that why I asked, but no offense to you. Thank you. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/302895-booting-yosemite-installer-over-the-internet-succes/#findComment-2090625 Share on other sites

luky35
@luky could be because of IOSerialFamily. I left some kexts out to speed up loading.... I removed the folder from the S / L / E IOSerialFamily.kext and installation goes without any problems. Thank you very much.
