avin7000
My laptop config: Dell XPS L501x, Intel i7 740, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, Nvidia GT435m graphics card. It's currently on OS X 10.9.3. (It's a same setup since past one year. No new kexts or apps installed recently.) I am using Mavericks since the launch and I am facing issues recently. Laptop shuts downs randomly. It happened twice today, once yesterday. Other than that, it had some 3 months ago. I didn't care much. I restarted it and it was normal. So, I was observing, when it shut down yest or today, I felt that laptop was really warm. So I guess it overheated and CPU shutdown. It was more heated towards left side of the laptop, where HDD resides. Is my HDD failing? I wasn't doing anything CPU/GPU/RAM intensive tasks. Some 3-4 tabs on Chrome were open thats all. I want to debug it and find out why it's happening. - are there any monitoring tools? - can I check logs and hopefully they would contain why it happened? Thank you!
