Shiggitay1
Hi guys. I have a working Hackintosh and I'm curious as to whether or not the latest x86 tablets (with the proper kernel patch(es) will boot Mavericks or even Yosemite? Should I get one of these I'll try Linux too... The tablets I'm interested in are listed below:WinBook TW100http://www.microcenter.com/single_pr...spx?sku=410605ASUS VivoTab Note 8http://www.microcenter.com/product/4...Tablet_-_BlackThey both share the Intel BayTrail CPU (Atom-based) that runs at 1.33 GHz (quad-core) and turbo boots up to 1.86 GHz or so. I was at my local MicroCenter store the other morning to play with both of them and I'm leaning towards the WinBook (32GB) because of its full size USB 3 port at top and its $200 price. On the other hand the VivoTab I found goes for $279 and has twice the storage as the WinBook but no full size USB 3 port...Has anyone gotten any of those tablets to try and install Mac OS X onto? If you have, what works? Touchscreen? WiFi? Graphics? If you have any suggestions or recommendations on a tablet that's known to mostly work feel free to leave them here. Finally, these two tablets are attractive to me because they're under $300. If I was to spend more than that I'd get a MacBook Pro, but that won't happen until earliest July of 2015... Anyway... thanks in advance.
JahStories
there isn't anyone yet here in the forum that installed OS X on these kind of tablets... But you could always try, the system should boot with proper patching, and probably even other devices... Just buy the one you prefer then after trying a couple of generic guides you can always ask for help, please remember to use the Tablet section. jaymus
I'm very much leaning towards the Vivo Tab. I suspect the latest version of OSX that'll work is actually 10.6. I vaguely recall reading something about newer versions not running on Atom CPUs. I hope I'm mistaken. Even still, running 10.6 on it would be nifty. WillAdams
I'm interested in the idea of installing OS X on the Asus VivoTab as well --- 10.6 would work fine for my purposes --- tired of the upgrade treadmill and I want a machine which is nicer to run Freehand on than my ThinkPad X61 w/ 1024x768 display. timp
I was looking at about installing OSX on a cheapo Z3735F TV box. The first problem I foresee is that I doubt it'll be able to access the eMMC storage. Like I can't imagine there is a .kext for eMMC disks included in OSX by default. Please correct me if I'm wrong. It may be possible with a USB connected disk.
dinosauria
I just bought a Atom Z3735F mini PC. http://www.aliexpress.com/item/32271607122/32271607122.html The good thing is it looks alike Mac Mini. It will arrive next week, I try to install Yosemite. I think there are two probrems; 1. Atom not supported OSX 2. Build in graphics not supported OSX FakeCPUID may help to solve 1. How about 2.? Graebags
I've seen one of these advertised as available soon locally, has anyone tried putting Yosemite on one. I decided to post here, because it uses the Intel® Atom™ Processor Z3735F . http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/stck1a32wfc/sb/CS-035452.htm

dinosauria
Now CX-W8 seems to has 64bit UEFI bios. It can download here. This may easier to boot OSX on CX-W8. http://www.cnx-software.com/2015/04/29/how-to-install-64-bit-bios-on-sunchip-cx-w8-unbricking-method/
