jcmc
I have a Gigabyte Z77-UP4-TH board running 10.9.4 that is generally excellent. However I've noticed that if you use tcpdump (or anything that uses the built in Mavericks libpcap) that it will kill the RTL8169 based ethernet driver. No further packets can be sent/received. Has anyone else come across this and found a fix? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/300069-1094-rtl8169-ethernet-tcpdump-libpcap/ Share on other sites

slemblod
I do not know if you have tried Realtek's own kext (download at the bottom of the page). Is says it is for 10.7, but has worked excellent for me on 10.8, 10.9 and now 10.10. I am running GA-Z87M-D3H and things are working flawlessly for me, including tcpdump. jcmc
I installed the RTL8111 driver that was linked, this seems to have done the trick. Thanks.
