Shane 2
Sorry to bother, does Killer E220x implies the support of E2201 on some Z97 motherboards? I can't find anyone using E2201 with a success story on the Internet... yet!

Kasakka
Tried the driver, didn't remember which Atheros model I have but apparently the Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H has an Atheros AR8151. Despite no support, this driver seems to work fine with it. Haven't tried any heavy download (as the ALX driver sometimes crashed with that) but definitely working. Is there something that won't work on my chip?

Kasakka
Really? So what did you change because the unmodified driver will refuse to work with any unsupported chip? Mieze Nothing as far as I know. Then again I might be wrong because I find Google results for both AR8161 and AR8151 for this board (different chips on different revisions perhaps?). Is there any easy way to check (can't be bothered to open the case and dismantle half the machine to see the chip)?

There is no need to open the case, just take a look at the kernel logs (see FAQ in case you don't know how to retrieve them) but I'm sure you have got a board with an AR8161. D-an-W
I would see it as a form of flattery, also if there is a new version in the works that included one will be soon out of date. CaulkSqueeze
Thanks so much for your work! I have a MSI GD65 which uses the Killer E2200 and before whenever I tried to use airdrop in mavericks the cursor would skip everywhere and then ethernet wouldn't work until I restarted. Airdrop still doesn't work now, but at least it doesn't screw everything up if I try. I also have the BCM94360CD for wifi and wasn't sure why I couldn't get airdrop to work, it did however work fine with Yosemite. anywho, thanks again for creating this driver. I did find out about it first from tonymac (don't hate me! I wanted to find the source so I found my way to this thread)
Deridjian
Great contribution to the community. Thank you Mieze! I've got a H77-D3H supposedly with a AR8161 on board. I tried your driver on 10.10 and got no luck. I don't have ALXEthernet.kext installed, I've got Network Stack disabled, can't find a Network Boot option in BIOS (I do have Onboard LAN Controller #1 enabled tho) and don't use any kernel flags, since I'm booting with Ozmosis. The only network option I get in system prefs is a "Built-in Serial Port (1)" which is a dial-up connection. I did a "$ ifconfig -a": lo0: flags=8049<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 16384 options=3<RXCSUM,TXCSUM> inet6 ::1 prefixlen 128 inet 127.0.0.1 netmask 0xff000000 inet6 fe80::1%lo0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x1 nd6 options=1<PERFORMNUD> gif0: flags=8010<POINTOPOINT,MULTICAST> mtu 1280 stf0: flags=0<> mtu 1280 en0: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 ether 90:f6:52:0e:63:ee inet6 fe80::92f6:52ff:fe0e:63ee%en0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x4 inet 192.168.2.103 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.2.255 nd6 options=1<PERFORMNUD> media: autoselect status: active p2p0: flags=8843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 2304 ether 02:f6:52:0e:63:ee media: autoselect status: active And a "$ grep kernel /var/log/system.log" with „Onboard LAN Controller #1: Enabled“: Longterm timer threshold: 1000 ms PMAP: PCID enabled PMAP: Supervisor Mode Execute Protection enabled Darwin Kernel Version 14.0.0: Mon Sep 8 05:27:41 PDT 2014; root:xnu-2782.1.96~5/RELEASE_X86_64 vm_page_bootstrap: 4045121 free pages and 116415 wired pages kext submap [0xffffff7f80a00000 - 0xffffff8000000000], kernel text [0xffffff8000200000 - 0xffffff8000a00000] zone leak detection enabled "vm_compressor_mode" is 4 multiq scheduler config: deep-drain 0, urgent first 1, depth limit 4, band limit 127, sanity check 0 standard timeslicing quantum is 10000 us standard background quantum is 2500 us mig_table_max_displ = 13 TSC Deadline Timer supported and enabled "name" not a kext "FailedCLUT" not a kext "FailedImage" not a kext AppleACPICPU: ProcessorId=1 LocalApicId=0 Enabled AppleACPICPU: ProcessorId=2 LocalApicId=2 Enabled AppleACPICPU: ProcessorId=3 LocalApicId=4 Enabled AppleACPICPU: ProcessorId=4 LocalApicId=6 Enabled AppleACPICPU: ProcessorId=5 LocalApicId=1 Enabled AppleACPICPU: ProcessorId=6 LocalApicId=3 Enabled AppleACPICPU: ProcessorId=7 LocalApicId=5 Enabled AppleACPICPU: ProcessorId=8 LocalApicId=7 Enabled calling mpo_policy_init for TMSafetyNet Security policy loaded: Safety net for Time Machine (TMSafetyNet) calling mpo_policy_init for AMFI Security policy loaded: Apple Mobile File Integrity (AMFI) calling mpo_policy_init for Sandbox Security policy loaded: Seatbelt sandbox policy (Sandbox) calling mpo_policy_init for Quarantine Security policy loaded: Quarantine policy (Quarantine) Copyright © 1982, 1986, 1989, 1991, 1993 The Regents of the University of California. Mieze
@Deridjian: The driver doesn't load, either because it isn't installed correctly or there is no supported chip.
Deridjian
Copy kext into S/L/E > Repair Perm. > Rebuild Caches, right? Maybe I end up having a 8151? There is no definite description about this board's controller and some people state they got 8161 and some state they got 8151...Can't even find anything on the board itself when opening the case, just the serial of the housing with the LAN plug which leads me to a data sheet. Gonna try with a driver for 8151 and see I guess.
Mieze
Best way to find out which chip you have is to take a look at IORegistry and find out the device's PCI device ID. Mieze anywho, thanks again for creating this driver. I did find out about it first from tonymac (don't hate me! I wanted to find the source so I found my way to this thread) No need to worry, I really appreciate your post because you have realized what I wanted you to know, that tonymacx86 is a freeloader.
