Phr4c7ur3 Posted August 4, 2014 Share Posted August 4, 2014 First of all I must declare that I've achieved a stable install using methods described elsewhere (I won't mention that community here). I have tried to install using the methods described here, chameleon etc, but I always have boot issues and I ran out of patience with the process. Ideally I'd like to install using chameleon and completely abandon the tools from the other community as I've read the points made here in the new members lounge and totally agree. Currently I have a bootable install of 10.9.4 and everything (?) other than Ethernet and sound seem to be working. Obviously sleep and Ethernet are quite important and I previously had them both working on an SL install with the same hardware. Unfortunately I can't find the thread (from insanelymac) I used to install SL and get all correct kexts in order. My hardware is in my signature but I'll list it here again anyway: Asus P6T Deluxe V2 Core I7 920 (Sandybridge) Sapphire HD5770 Corsair Dominator 4GB and I think it's just a WD Black 500GB drive The Ethernet is Marvell Yukon 88E8056 and that is what I'd really like to get working first. I have spent a few evenings updating myself, reading threads on here and elsewhere, but I just don't seem to be able to find practical steps for how to get it working, I'm fairly comfortable with OSX up to terminal commands and editing .plist files but I'm still not entirely sure how DSDTs work. This is very much a learning curve for me but I'm enjoying the challenge so please don't shoot me down for not knowing how to resolve what you might perceive as a "simple" problem. Even if you don't want to puppy-walk me through the solution (and I understand that must get very tiresome) please at least point me in the right direction so that I can research more. Thank you. But if you are trying to save something that you already installed, then yes, delete the two broken kexts and install over top of your existing installation. I have an issue with kextwizard too which I'm about to read up on here...if I can't find an answer then I'll start a new thread (for others with a similar issue) and post the link here. All it takes is a few commands: http://www.macbreaker.com/2012/01/how-to-manually-install-kexts.html I've got the same MB/CPU and currently running 10.9.3 with network (obviously ;-)) and sound. The sound patching was a bit tricky, I patched my DSDT using these instructions (just the DSDT part) : http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/280468-applehda-patching-in-mountain-lion/page-4?do=findComment&comment=1839042 And used this kext: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/files/file/17-applehda-for-ad2000b-108/ For the network, you can follow these instructions: - Open a terminal and enter: sudo nano /System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkingFamily.kext/Contents/Plugins/AppleYukon2.kext/Contents/Info.plist- Find Yukon-88E8053 and make it Yukon-88E8056- Find 0x436211ab and make it 0x436411ab Of course you need the purge cache/fix kexts permissions everytime you make a change to them. HTH Hi Capsule. Thank you for your response, those instructions helped me fix my Ethernet. I'm having some real issues with purging/fixing kextcache. I'm not able to use KextWizard as I described here and when I don't seem to be able to find the steps to manually purge/fix via Terminal...the steps described in the link you supplied above simply won't work for me.
