Anyone experiencing problems with OS X 10.11 (El Capitan)?? When I updated last night to the GM BETA my Mediatek USB Dongle suffered a heart attack. It still shows up I'm my System Profiler, which means it's recognized, but both the Ralink Wireless Utility and the other D-Link DWA 140 Utility no longer "see" the adapter.

Just curious if anyone else has had this problem and what solutions have been found.

Thanks.

Fixed!

In order to make the driver work again just disable SIP (System integrity protection). Follow these steps in order to disable SIP:

1. restart Mac

2. hold CMD+R until you hear the sound, in this way you are going to boot in Recovery mode

3. From Utilities Menu, select Terminal and write: csrutil disable

4. Terminal will answer System integrity protection is disabled

5. From  menu select Restart

Done, the driver will work as before the update.  ;)

Just wanted to say that i made mistake in deleting everything after upgrading to Capitan and i had to go read all this topic again to get the right stuff back :-(

Probably only needed to disable SIP, because that is what is needed after you upgrade to make it work again.

Unfortunately I have not managed to make the driver work with El Capitan (used to work on Yosemite - see my earlier post). I have used SIPUtility to disable sip:

csrutil_status_disabled_run_outside_reco

Additionally, I noticed that when installing the package, no kext's are put inside /System/Library/Extensions

I had followed this guide and everything was fine till Yosemite. Now I have upgraded to El Capitan and the guide is not working anymore. I used the same wireless driver for Yosemite and installed it using EasyKext Utility. After reboot the pref pane shows no wireless device found.

The kext is being loaded as per kextstat

Please try first with latest driver version V5.0.1.25 !      see #143

I downloaded the latest driver. Its not installing the kext. I manually installed the kext by extracting it using Pacifist. It wasn't loading. Then I tried editing the Info.plist and adding the vendor & product id from System Profiler to RT5370 section. The driver loaded but the utility is not working. The preference pane shows the same result

Help!!

I suggest you to install Clover R3320 and inject the kext with clover.

Be sure also to use SIP utility or configure Clover to autorise kext load active

I tried injecting the kext through clover.

The modified kext with product & vendor id as per System profiler loads but the app still shows the same error

Unmodified kext doesn't load at all

Hi, i'm using El Capitan with a Sitecom WL-343 usb adapter and i have difficulty to use a WIreless Utility. I tried this app and works only at boot (but i have to click always rescan because i don't see my profile), but if i open in systray i don't see "Turn Wifi Off" and if i click Show Wireless Utility nothing happens.

Updated Ralink/Mediatek drivers for USB dongles released at 29/11/2013.

MAVERICKS AND YOSEMITE COMPATIBLE

Drivers downloaded from http://www.mediatek.com/en/downloads/usb-rt2870rt2770rt3x7xrt537xrt5572/

I made a zip file with oficial drivers and a preference pane from dlink that replace the oficial ralink wireless utility.

This solve the problematic Ralink Wireless Utility that simply does not work on yosemite and the package doesn´t install the maverick kext in yosemite.

ZIP CONTENTS

10744eg.jpg

DLINK PREFERENCE PANE

288siec.jpg

INSTALATION

Copy preference pane to \System\Library\PreferencePanes\

Copy kext for your MacOS version (use Maverick for Yosemite) to folder \System\Library\Extensions\

Repair permissions

Rebuild kext cache

Reboot.

I solved the problem my putting the driver manually myself. I documented the whole process here: http://www.jamesattard.com/2015/10/ralink-rt5370-usb-wifi-adapter-on-el.html

I confirm that the two above solutions is both working on El Capitan for my ASUS N53 which uses 3572 chipset.

Is there any way to get this working during OS X setup?
