bgrau
I have the Intel i3 version of the tablet Acer W700 Iconia. OS X 10.9.5. My attempt at trying to get to boot in UEFI mode with Clover have failed. In legacy mode, with latest Chameleon v2395, I can get it to boot in safe mode, it loads everything without problems in normal mode, but gets stuck without getting onto a desktop, so there is an issue with graphics I think. Where is this sp guide? On a side note, it runs Android x86 4.4.2 beautifully from usb 3.0 in legacy mode, it also runs Ubuntu 14.04 perfectly in UEFI mode from its SSD disk. I will keep trying to get OS X 10.9.5 to work on it. The last bit tried is DSDT.aml, which was extracted using trial version of AIDA64 Engineer, no improvement, and using two kexts posted from somewhere for the Intel HD3000 10.9_Intel_HD_3000_&_HD_4000_Driver_by_KemalALKIN AppleIntelFramebufferCapri.kext AppleIntelSNBGraphicsFB.kext still no luck... anyone luckier than me, please advise. ;-) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/299346-acer-iconia-w700/#findComment-2064520 Share on other sites
bgrau
Some progress. Still using Legacy Mode. I managed to boot into the GUI by removing just two kexts, these two: AppleIntelFramebufferCapri.kext AppleIntelSNBGraphicsFB.kext So it is a driver problem, of course, no QE/CI as these are the actual drivers for Intel HD3000/HD4000. Everything seems to work, apart from touch and wifi, for wifi I used an Edimax external dongle. Curiously, the Atheros Bluetooth works, but not its integrated wifi. At least I have access to Maverick 10.9.5 from Acer W700 i3 ;-) Now it is a matter of finding someone who managed to hack the graphics drivers bit... bgrau
Acer W700 with hybrid i3 Panther processor and HD3000 Intel graphics is a tough nut to crack, the two kexts that might solve the graphics QE/CI issue gave me grief, and I had to remove them. NVIDIA or ATI were far easier to handle. Currently I am trying the DSDT root, but no success so far. I still need to figure out how to get the two kexts above to load and allowing the system to boot, removing them is not part of the solution. Next I will be trying the Mountain Lion Intel graphics files and see if that works better. Not any peeps interested in OS X on Acer w700 i3 HD3000 ? bgrau
After many attempts I can say this is not solvable for Acer W700 with HM77 hybrid sandybridge chip with HD3000. No DSDT patch, modified kexts helped. The best I can get to boot to GUI is by disabling the kext AppleIntelSNBGraphicsFB.kext. bgrau
My attempts with the acute help of RehabMan (kudos to him) were futile, the reason is lack of drivers for framebuffer on eDP (embedded display port) for Intel HD3000, until this is ported from Linux maybe, framebuffer and QE/CI will not be possible on Acer W700 i3 HM77 version. However attaching HDMI monitor and enabling AppleIntelSNBGraphicsFB.kext gives perfect QE/CI. bgrau
I am actually happy about the result I got which is to get OS X 10.7.5 and up running in this Acer W700 with HM77 hybrid sandybridge using an external HDMI monitor if I want full QE/CI, with the welcome side effect that the Tablet screen stays black, so can rest, which is good for its LCD screen. And if I need to access OS X on the Tablet screen, I just disable the SNB framebuffer, and do stuff that do not require video acceleration...
