jgrimes80
I'll spell it out... I do CAD work with Pro/E, UGS, and Solidworks (depending on client request)... Sometimes these assemblies get rather large (like +30K parts) and really bogs down my current PC. Which is an older P4 workstation w/ CRT moniter. The other day, I tried using my MBP and it doesn't seem to hit the sweet spot. It's "F-ing" up my productivity so I'd like to get/build a replacement PC or Mac. I called both PTC and UGS to get some recommendations but their assistance wasn't very helpful. They basically told me to "upgrade what you have..." I was/am pretty pissed about the lack of support from Ungraphics and PTC. Most on here have a tendency to be very helpful: Obviously the more I spend the better it'll be... I don't know much about computer hardware; where do I need to focus on spending the money? Better yet, what's a good setup for something like this or where's a good place to call/ website to visit to find out? I don't know what's causing the slow-down... CPU? 1 or 2? dual-core? Graphics? ??? RAM? Motherboard? Sound? - just kidding Branded? Custom? ??? a little help here? Numberzz
Upgrading anything on the MBP, except ram, will void the warrenty. What are the specs? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/29680-need-some-advice/#findComment-204761 Share on other sites
jgrimes80
Whoop, Sorry for the misconception... my MBP is my mobile station; perfectly suited for my intended purpose. What I want to do is get another DESKTOP workstation. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/29680-need-some-advice/#findComment-204763 Share on other sites
