The Terminal :)

I am totally new to mac, and im trying to get my network-card to work. So i just downloaded Pin Xue's Via Rhine driver. But how do i load the "loadvia" file in the terminal? I guess it's just basics but... How do i do?

Open Terminal

 

Type: cd followed by a space, but don't hit Enter yet.

 

Drag-n-drop the "loadvia" file into the Terminal window. This sets up the path to the file.

 

Now hit Enter.

 

Type: sudo ./loadvia and hit Enter

I logged in with the sudo -s and enterd my password.

 

But when i sudo ./loadvia it said:

 

Error bla bla

ViaRhine.kext is not authentic. (check permissions ....)

 

Any idea?

OK, so do this manually:

 

Drag the ViaRhine.kext from the folder you expanded to the following folder on your OSX partition: /System/Library/Extensions

 

It will say "you can't do that". Just click the Authenticate button and give your password.

 

Go into Terminal and type:

 

cd /System/Library/Extensions
sudo chown -R root:wheel ViaRhine.kext
sudo find ViaRhine.kext -type d -exec chmod 0755 {} \;
sudo find ViaRhine.kext -type f -exec chmod 0644 {} \;
sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions.kext
sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions.mkext

 

Reboot

BTW. i installed i displaydriver that didn't work. and everytime my computer starts it loads the drivers, and my screen goes "no signal". Do i have to reinstall Mac OS? Or is there a way to start mac os with the old drivers?

Rammjet, I'm new in terms of Terminal.

I instaled OSX10.4.6 and the update Jas 10.4.7 on my Dell Inspiron 640m, 1,83 Ghz Duo Core, Intel 945 GM Express with Sigmatel Stack 9200

Works great but without sound, I try to do the Audio guide in OSx86 project but couldn't. put de Vendor ID and device ID in the kext.

Could you try to explain me, the way

 

Vendor ID 8384 Device ID 7690 0x83847690

There is no driver that works for Sigmatel 9200. A few people started an effort to program a driver for it, but it hasn't gotten far.
