While the software giant originally released Windows 8.1 last year with an option to bypass the "Metro" interface at boot, sources familiar with Microsoft’s plans have revealed to The Verge that the upcoming update for Windows 8.1 will enable this by default. Like many other changes in Update 1, we’re told the reason for the reversal is to improve the OS for keyboard and mouse users. Really? What a surprise! Once Microsoft realized that the Metro interface was a total fiasco with Joe User, they are going back to the old interface. At least they can admit that they made a mistake to begin with. 2 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/295699-microsoft-backpedals-windows-81-update-hides-metro-by-default/ Share on other sites
vbetts
I personally like Metro, but I do understand for a desktop or laptop needing to go to the desktop first. As for people liking or disliking Metro, I've had just as many clients like Metro as I've had clients that didn't like Metro...50/50 is not good odds! 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/295699-microsoft-backpedals-windows-81-update-hides-metro-by-default/#findComment-1990153 Share on other sites
