VGA and HDMI doesn't work. ATI Radeon HD 5470M: Full QE/CI, brightness, VGA and HDMI doesn't work (yet) WLAN: Atheros AR9285: works almost native with AirDrop and AirPort support LAN: Realtek 8101E/8102E: works Audio: Realtek ALC270: works, with Speakers, Headphones, Internal and External Microphones TouchPad: Synaptics LuxPad v7.4: works with multitouch support and disabling zone too Webcam: HP Webcam-101: works but it needs CameraControl.app Card Reader: Realtek RTS5159: works OOB DVD Drive: hp CDDVDW TS-L633N: works OOB Battery: works Sleep: works (closing lid too) Pre-Installaton Using Windows, DOS or Ubuntu get your EDID raw data [solution b.]. Decide if you want to keep the Intel HD Graphics or disable it. If you decide to keep it, you don't have to do anything, skip to Installation If you decide to disable it, go to post #2: Installation 1. Prepare a bootable USB Flash Drive with OS X Mavericks [Creating the installer]. 2. Install Chameleon and this module (to fix lapic Kernel Panic) on the flash drive: 3. Download the MacBookPro6,2 SMBIOS or create a new one using Chameleon Wizard. Put it as "SMBIOS.plist" in the Extra folder (on the flash drive). 4. Download FakeSMC binaries from kozlek's branch (I think is the best up to now) and install "FakeSMC.kext" on the flash drive using Kext Wizard. 5. Download VoodooPS2Controller from RehabMan's branch (it supports better Synaptics' touchpads). Install "VoodooPS2Controller.kext" on the flash drive using Kext Wizard. 6. Patch your DSDT. See post #6. 7. Put the patched DSDT in the Extra folder. 8. I suggest you to partition your installation drive as GPT. If you want to partition as MBR (for Windows 8 installation, but has some issues with Clover installation) remember to patch the Installer on your flash drive with the MBR patch. Remember: if you've partitioned your drive as MBR, don't forget to add a new partition of 100MB or so, and name it 'EFI'. 9. Boot in your bootable USB Flash Drive, and Install Mac OS X. 10. When install finished, don't reboot or shutdown. Go to Utilities => Terminal... 11. Execute the following commands: cp -R /Volumes/USB/System/Library/Extensions/FakeSMC.kext /Volumes/Mavericks/System/Library/Extensionscp -R /Volumes/USB/System/Library/Extensions/VoodooPS2Controller.kext /Volumes/Mavericks/System/Library/Extensions 10. Reboot using the bootable USB Flash Drive, and now boot in Mac OS X. You should be able to get to the desktop. 11. Install these kexts using Kext Wizard or Kext Utility: FakeSMC (kozlek's branch [install FakeSMC, the sensors and HWMonitor application]) LAN (one of these): Official driver: RTGNIC v2.0.6 (scroll at bottom, Others) Slice's RealtekR1000SL.kext (modified official driver) Battery: RehabMan's ACPIBatteryManager.kext TouchPad/Keyboard: RehabMan's VoodooPS2Controller.kext Audio: AppleHDA.kext CodecCommander.kext (fix for no audio after sleep) [pre-built kext: [http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?app=core&module=attach§ion=attach&attach_id=138577]] WLAN: DSDT patch (don't worry now, go on with the installation) 12. Download and install Clover. Use these settings: Remember: if you've partitioned your drive as MBR you need to run these commands: 1. Firstly, run this command to list all the partitions in your drive. diskutil list 2. Find the partition 'EFI' and copy the IDENTIFIER. 3. Now run this command and replace "diskXsY" with the IDENTIFIER of partition 'EFI'. sudo newfs_msdos -v EFI -F 32 /dev/rdiskXsY Whenever you update the bootloader you have to unmount the volume EFI by running this command: diskutil unmount EFI 13. Go in the EFI volume, then /EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/Patched/ and put there your patched DSDT. 14. Go back in the CLOVER folder and open config.plist. 15. Disable all the DSDT Fixes, injection and USB fixes: 16. Enable KernelAndKextPatches/KernelLapic fix (to prevent kernel panics on HP CPUs). 17. Add the MacBookPro6,2 SMBios according to this guide. WORK IN PROGRESS! giofrida
How to replace your current incompatible WLAN card with an Atheros AR9285 1. Buy an HP AR9285 card. According to the "Compaq Presario CQ62 Notebook PC HP G62 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide" these are the code parts for the AR9285. I personally bought the "580101-002" because I don't live in America. Note: I suggest you to search the code part on a estore online (such as ebay, for example). 2. Once it arrived, let's install it. Put your notebook upside down. 3. Remove the HDD cover by loosing the screws. 4. Loose the Memory cover screws. 5. Remove the battery. 6. Lift up the Memory cover. 6. Disconnect the WLAN antennas. 7. Remove the WLAN screw. 8. Remove the WLAN module. This is the AR9285 card I've bought: 9. Insert the new WLAN module in the Mini PCIe Slot 10. Tighten the screw. 11. Connect the WLAN antennas to the module. 12. Close the Memory and Hard Drive cover. 13. Turn on the Notebook and press F10. Look at 'WLAN FCC ID'. You should see 'PPD-AR5B95-H'.
giofrida
How to patch ATI connectors 1. First of all, extract your video bios. You'll need AIDA64 for Windows. 2. Open it and right click on the menu bar (at bottom). 3. Click on Video Debug => Video BIOS Dump and save the BIOS somewhere. 4. Download redsock_bios_decoder and radeon_bios_decode. 5. Open Terminal and drag redsock_bios_decoder and drop it in the window. Then type '<' and drag vgabios.dmp and drop in it too. 6. Press Enter. 7. Copy the generated output in a plain text editor (such as Textedit, Sublime Text, etc.) 8. Do the same thing with radeon_bios_decode. 9. You should get something like this: 10. Now copy this text: Connector Type 00 00 00 00 ATY,ControlFlags 00 00 00 00 Features 00 00 Unknown 00 00 Transmitter 00 Encoder 00 Hotplug ID 00 Sense ID 00 in the text editor three times (for LVDS, HDMI and VGA). 11. giofrida
DSDT editing and patching To extract your DSDT you need Windows, Linux or Mac OS X (without patched DSDT loaded). 1. Download DSDT Editor and Patcher according to your O.S.. 2. Run it. 3. Click on File -> Extract DSDT. 4. Download the HP G62 B08SL patch (it's the same for the other G62 models). 5. Click on Patch -> Open... and open the patch previously downloaded. 6. Click on Apply. Then Close DSDT Editor. 7. Click on IASL -> Compile and click on Fix errors (there shouldn't be any errors now). 8. Download the G62 B13SL battery patch (it should work for the other G62 models too). 9. Do the same thing as before (open the patch, apply it, compile the DSDT and if there are some errors try to fix them by clicking on Fix errors). If you have an AR9285: 1. Click Patch -> New. 2. Paste this code in the window: into method label _DSM parent_label PXSX remove_entry; into device label PXSX parent_label RP03 insert begin Method (_DSM, 4, NotSerialized)\n {\n If (LEqual (Arg2, Zero)) { Return (Buffer() { 0x03 } ) }\n Return (Package()\n {\n "device-id", Buffer() { 0x2A, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00 },\n "name", "pci168c,2a",\n "IOName", "pci168c,2a",\n "subsystem-id", Buffer() { 0x8F, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00 },\n "subsystem-vendor-id", Buffer() { 0x6B, 0x10, 0x00, 0x00 },\n })\n }\n end; 3. Click Apply. If you have the Intel HD Graphics enabled: You have to edit your DSDT in this way: 1. Just before the beginning of "Scope (_SB)" paste this code: OperationRegion (BRIT, SystemMemory, 0xC0048254, 0x04) Field (BRIT, AnyAcc, Lock, Preserve) { LEVL, 32 } OperationRegion (BRI2, SystemMemory, 0xC0048250, 0x04) Field (BRI2, AnyAcc, Lock, Preserve) { LEV2, 32 } OperationRegion (BRI3, SystemMemory, 0xC00C8250, 0x04) Field (BRI3, AnyAcc, Lock, Preserve) { LEVW, 32 } OperationRegion (BRI4, SystemMemory, 0xC00C8254, 0x04) Field (BRI4, AnyAcc, Lock, Preserve) { LEVX, 32 } 2. Go to _SB/PCI0/GFX0/DD02 and after the line "Device (DD02)" paste this code: Name (_HID, EisaId ("LCD1234")) 3. Go to _SB/PNLF and delete the whole PNLF method. 4. Replace it with this code (paste it): Device (PNLF) { Name (_HID, EisaId ("APP0002")) Name (_CID, "backlight") Name (_UID, 0x0A) Name (_STA, 0x0B) Method (_BCL, 0, NotSerialized) { Return (Package (0x13) { 0x64, 0x32, Zero, 0x06, 0x0C, 0x12, 0x18, 0x1E, 0x24, 0x2A, 0x30, 0x36, 0x3C, 0x42, 0x48, 0x4E, 0x54, 0x5A, 0x64 }) } Method (_BCM, 1, NotSerialized) { Store (0x80000000, LEV2) If (LGreaterEqual (Arg0, 0x64)) { Store (0x12FF, LEVL) } Else { If (LGreaterEqual (Arg0, 0x5A)) { Store (0x11FF, LEVL) } Else { If (LGreaterEqual (Arg0, 0x54)) { Store (0x103A, LEVL) } Else { If (LGreaterEqual (Arg0, 0x4E)) { Store (0x0EBB, LEVL) } Else { If (LGreaterEqual (Arg0, 0x48)) { Store (0x0B24, LEVL) } Else { If (LGreaterEqual (Arg0, 0x42)) { Store (0x0873, LEVL) } Else { If (LGreaterEqual (Arg0, 0x3C)) { Store (0x065B, LEVL) } Else { If (LGreaterEqual (Arg0, 0x36)) { Store (0x04C8, LEVL) } Else { If (LGreaterEqual (Arg0, 0x30)) { Store (0x0396, LEVL) } Else { If (LGreaterEqual (Arg0, 0x2A)) { Store (0x02B0, LEVL) } Else { If (LGreaterEqual (Arg0, 0x24)) { Store (0x0266, LEVL) } Else { If (LGreaterEqual (Arg0, 0x1E)) { Store (0x0218, LEVL) } Else { If (LGreaterEqual (Arg0, 0x18)) { Store (0x01D1, LEVL) } Else { If (LGreaterEqual (Arg0, 0x12)) { Store (0x0191, LEVL) } Else { If (LGreaterEqual (Arg0, 0x0C)) { Store (0x0161, LEVL) } Else { If (LGreaterEqual (Arg0, 0x06)) { Store (0x0132, LEVL) } Else { If (LGreaterEqual (Arg0, Zero)) { Store (0x82, LEVL) } Else { Store (0x11FF, LEVL) } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } Method (_BQC, 0, NotSerialized) { Return (^^PCI0.GFX0.DD02._BQC ()) } Method (_DOS, 1, NotSerialized) { ^^PCI0.GFX0._DOS (Arg0) } } 5. Thanks for all 1. Do you mean dual booting? So install both Windows and Mac OS X? Or just prepare the USB Drive (with OS X Installation) from Windows? 2. I recommend you to disable Intel HD Graphics (see post #2 [I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY IF ANYTHING GOES WRONG!]) and replace the BCM4313 with a AR9285 (see post #3) 3. Yes it's necessary, but my guide is easier than the other ones you find on this forum because is just for our notebooks. 4. The performance is good, as good as on Windows. If you disable Intel HD Graphics and replace the BCM4313 with a AR9285 you will have all working. Well, the VGA and HDMI don't work (they work on Windows however) and the webcam is a bit problematic (you have to open the application CameraControl before using it. 5. Because leaving enabled Intel HD Graphics will cause overheating (probably due to the ATI card still active) and very low performance (due to the modification to the drivers, or just because our hardware is unsupported). 6. It isn't necessary but it's highly recommended, otherwise WiFi won't work. 7. I don't think so. However I have to complete the guide since I hadn't too much free time.
