This is short guide, without unnecessary repeating well known installation procedures. For those who find this hard to follow, I suggest “Google” around like I was, before returning to this, because for those familiar with this, it will be a piece of cake!

I put some effort to put this together, within my abilities and knowledge, but there are some unresolved issues, for which I hope to find help here, especially from more experienced guys who run this project.

I am great enthusiast and supporter of Linux, which is, as you all well know OPEN SOURCE. This means that knowledge is meant to be shared and to be available to all, which I belive applies to the Hackintosh project also. So, this is my contribution :

My configuration:

  • 17.3" Full High Definition (1080p) LED Display with Anti-Glare
  • 3rd Generation Intel® CoreTM i7-3630QM 2.4 Ghz (6MB cache, up to 3.4 Ghz)
  • 8GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz
  • 256GB Samsung SSD 840 PRO Series ( Windows 7 + Ubuntu - MBR)
  • 1TB 5400RPM SATA HDD ST1000LM024 HN-M101MBB ( Mac OS X RecoveryHD + Data - GUID)
  • 128GB mSATA SSD KINGSTON SMS200S3120G ( Mac OS X Mavericks HD - GUID, BIOS set to AHCI and can’t boot mSATA directly, use boot loader on RecoveryHD or Windows EasyBCD)
  • NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M GDDR5 2GB (completely disabled by DSDT injection)
  • Intel HD 4000 ( does not need an EFI string after installation enabled by DSDT injection)
  • Intel WiFi/BT ( replaced with Atheros 9285 + IoGear USB BT )

Instalation :

1. ##### method (Forbidden here, you will know which one) - Mac OS X Mavericks 10.9.1

- Use HDMI connected display for installation

or

- Add this EFI key to org.chameleon.Boot.plist in Extra folder of USB stick, so you can use built-in display for installation

<key>device-properties</key> <string>7f0000000100000001000000730000000200000002 010c00d041030a000000000101060000027fff04002c000000 4100410050004c002c00690067002d0070006c006100740066 006f0072006d002d0069006400000008000000040066011400 00006800640061002d0067006600780000000d0000006f6e62 6f6172642d31</string>

Post-Instalation :

1. ##### method (Forbidden here, you will know which one) - Preselected options file attached ( Exclude TRIM Patch if you don’t use SSD )

2. Necessary tools for post-installation attached.

3. Extra folder with files attached ( Create your own smbios.plist with Chameleon Wizard - MacBookPro8,3 17-inch, Early 2011 This is important! )

4. S/L/E folder with kexts attached ( Use Kext Wizard to install kexts, repair permissions and reboot! That`s all folks!)

5. Crate Apple ID,activate and authorize computer with iTunes, but remember that you need valid credit card or you will not be able to use iMessages or FaceTime ! Ethernet must be en0 !

If you don`t have other WiFi card use HoRNDIS-rel4.pkg for Android USB tethering or just BT tethering !

Unresolved Issues :

- Touchpad ( Working but only basic input, no gestures like 2 finger scrolling )
- Audio ( Working but subwoofer and HDMI audio not working, Line-In not tested)
- FN keys ( Brightness and WiFi control not working, audio working )

- Lan ( only with 10baseT/UTP half duplex )
- Sleep ( First sleep OK, after that touchpad not working, sleep not working, wrong readings TZ1 and TZ2 )
- DSDT ( Operational, but obviously need fine tweaking to resolve issues and enable all features possible. I don’t use SSDT, speedsteping with turbo boost )
- Card Reader ( Recognized as connected to Built-In USB/Hub, USB2.0-CRW, Product ID:0x0129 Vendor ID:0x0bda (Realtek Semiconductor Corp.) not working )
- Built-In Screen ( Not reaching full brightness unless you have hot corner activated to put it to sleep and activate again, after that all normal )
- Fan RPM ( not detected or stuck to 255 rpm )

Conclusion :

This is best I could do at this moment. It is functional Hackintosh, but with issues. If you want real thing you know where Apple.com is. This machine deserves attention of this community, not only because of its performance and compatibility but also ability for improvements with right people included. I invite all people with good will and some knowledge to help.

These were my start points and I like to thank Lejenk for his efforts to put his guide together and help many of us. I hope mine will be helpful too.

hi

welcome on InsanelyMac   :)

thank you for your tuto   ;)

and yes, as you point out, we don't support tonymacx86 tools

but there is a thing that I don't understand, you know it is "Forbidden here" and despite that, you continue to mention it trying to bypass the forum filters

Uni"Monster" method (Forbidden here, you will know which one)

really?

Dear fantomas1,

"I am great enthusiast and supporter of Linux, which is, as you all well know OPEN SOURCE. This means that knowledge is meant to be shared and to be available to all, which I believe applies to the Hackintosh project also."

I think that my point is clear. By filtering my post you directly brake previous, making my post wasted time because readers won't get it if they can't find my sources. I just wished to share my knowledge with others without your censorship. Is it against your rules to avoid your filter by implying something?

You won't find two Linux communities spitting on each other, even if someone makes profit along side. In fact,It is being fruitfull for them.

At the end, if my post is not worthy by your "standards" fill free to delete it, I will find some free and uncensored space on the Internet to post it !

Best regards from Serbia!

Hi miha,

before speaking of censorship you shold the forum rules. If you these aren't fair in case of TMX keep on reading this pinned thread about TMX or use the search function with TMX and ban/banned. After reading that you will change your opion...

As matter of fact there are a lot of users coming here because the pirated and clued together tools of TMX produce many unnecessary kp's, instabilities and slow systems. There are much better tools out. So why shall insanelymac promote TMX or his tools?

Best regards

@ miha77

I don't see what "OPEN SOURCE" or "sharing knowledge" has to do with our forum filters.

if you want to support tonymacx86 tools, you are free to do it everywhere you want but not here

I think that this time my point is very clear

and as Laberlohe said, you should read the thread about why we don't support tontmacx86 tools, maybe this will help you to understand our position about tonymacx86 tools.

Dear,

We can agree, that we disagree about this issue. Your house-your rules, and that's ok by me. This doesn't mean that I have to share your views about this.  I am no one's solicitor, and I am not representing either side. I think that the wheel doesn't need to be reinvented, it is common good. You can only find different ways of using it.

I hoped to receive more positive feedback to simplified and effective install method, and help regarding remaining issues mentioned in my post. By focusing on this and joining forces, something may be achieved for greater good of all.

Once again, Linux communities, both open source and commercial, are great example of cooperation.

Necessity is the mother of invention and the ends justify the means!

This doesn't mean that I have to share your views about this

yeah, sure

we can't force you to share our views, it sounds obvious, but as you know, each forum has its own rules and must be observed. I think this also sounds obvious.

now, as you said, there's different ways to install OS X on your laptop, by that I mean using different tools. And as we don't support tonymacx86 tools, we only can suggest you to find another way to complete your install.

after that, we will be able to provide you more help.   ;)

good luck

Hello!

Try to hex edit the framebufferCapri with hexfiend manually by using the values from the script of Lejenk and ID from his guide (link in post above yours).

I don´t know, if the script is working on 10 9. But backup untouched framebuffercapri before editing.

Best deal for you would be, if you have an other working OSX install on your device, if something is going wrong to be able to correct it easy. (or using CCC to clone your partial working install)

If you are on Clover you can do the patch on the fly and you never need to touch original framebuffer Capri after updates. With Clover create a temporary bootstick (size of some 100 mb are enough), msdos fat 32 formated and install Clover on it, copy over your existing working Clover files, and try to edit the on the fly patch in config.plist and boot with it afterwards by ignoring caches.

Have fun.

Hi styrian, thank you for your answer,
I have read every post of Lejenk but i have not found solution.
The kext that I have use successfully on mac os x 10.9.x (with x < 4) not work with 10.9.4. I have also tried a new clean installation with 10.9.4. But nothing: QE_CI not work and screen flicker!
The only interesting thing that I noticed is that when I finish the new clean installation with mac os x 10.9.4, when I rebooted using only the USB key, QE_CI works perfectly!
It is possible that the problem is the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext that is not use with the usb key, but it use NullCPUPowerManagement...

Hello!

Look at the post of Lejenk above your first post in the thread.

I have personally the same opinon as Lejenk. Forget this method.

You are nearly for sure further on your own here, by doing your install with in post one of this thread  suggested methods.

Lejenk´s method has worked fine on ML and as he stated by himself, it is still working on Mav.

The by Miha used tools are altering unnecessary default values. If you want to get perhaps encrypted files on your device, by following the suggestions for using especial, here not supported tools, you can do it for sure. It´s to your own. If you want really to use them and have gotten problems by using them, please hand over to the platform, where they have been "created", and ask there for support.

Have fun.

Hello!

Install a copy of the untouched one to S/L/E of your current OSX installation after backup the one you have in S/L/E. Then try, If the patch of first post of his guide is working. If it is working, copy the pached one to a save place, outside /S/L/E for later usage.

Install back the one you have used til now and reboot with flags -f v.

I have written a small guide for doing an installer from ESD image for an other guy without using any of the automated tools. There is no change, that you produce any garbage. Let me know, if the patch is working and if you want to follow about 20 small steps to get your system hopefully up with working QE/CI.

Have fun.

So, everything works perfectly, well done. One problem, though, I still use the default wifi card (I know it won't work), but i also Can't get ethernet to work either. help?

Do you have still problems with Ethernet on your Mavericks? On my Mavericks with kext downloaded from realtek site I have 100Mb/s finally working. If you still need it I can check my settings and sent you working kext... cheers!
