Can either of you link to some LEGIBLE documentation? Shilo also clover have a legacy mode if you want ;) trusted Sorry for OT but you don't need to have UEFI GOP BIOS to use Clover in UEFI. DSDT patching work fine. omni Posted February 24, 2014 Author Share Posted February 24, 2014 Speaking of Chameleon, I'm having a real hard time getting to boot Ubuntu with it since by default Ubuntu uses MBR to boot, and Chameleon does not support that (ORLY? it's 2014! HELLO?) I guess because I have a drive for each OS and because I picked Chameleon to be the primary booting drive it craps out. GREAT! RobLans Posted February 24, 2014 Share Posted February 24, 2014 Thank you @fabiosun for replying, I must be misunderstood something reading OB fro Omni (I will start over), for now still not convinced that Multiplier step actually is working on SB i7-3930k sorry!! @ Rob, if you read carefully OP from omni you should have all answers and a system with a correct stepping as IE Magnifico system is at this moment I have a CPU (Xeon V2) that is supported OOB from OSX 10.9.2 No I have not an Asus board I have an Extreme 9 with bios unlocked I could achieve same results with a locked bios launching perl command, always from omni's OP as a note I would like to say that in my system I have similar behavior with chameleon or clover bootloader Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Give my MSRpatcher v002 a try, or alternatively enable C states in your BIOS because your MSR 0xE2 does not look right with 0x1E000400 - that last 0 should 3, 5 or 7. My actual state for now is that I'm back to BIOS 4206 MSR unlocked, after the use of BIOS 4802 (can't see 4806 on ASUS site, maybe on ROG?). Anyway, had some strange issues on 4802, by experimenting (injecting extra p-states with the latest ssdt from pike) and by seting CPU strap causes my system to hang. Have to disconnect from power for at least 12 hours to have acces my system again, not really happy with that so didn't trust BIOS after 4206 for SB-E, but just my perception could be wrong about. So what I like to know, I only see actual speedstep multiplier moving only when TURBO [ON] in BIOS (wo oveclock), so with patched AICPUPM specially for Sandy Bridge from onmi (which is distribute by Rampagdev now on his new X79 DMG) i see only speedstep multiplier fluctuate between 12,35,36,37,38. AICPUPMI shows me al P-States like below, with native AICPUPM multiplier locks on [32] state, with suggest MacMini 6,2 setting from @fabiosun I have locked multiplier [12] Results from AICPUPMI are : CPU P-States [ 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 34 (35) 36 37 38 ] C3-Cores [ 0 1 2 3 4 6 7 8 9 ] CPU C6-Cores [ 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 ] CPU C7-Cores [ 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 ] My question is have you manage to get multiplier movement between P-tates 12 to 32, we have the sam setup. Im running on AppleACPIPlatform (2.0). Yep, all C states are enabled in BIOS. Asus Sabertooth x79 (Bios 4608) Intel 3930k with 4.5Ghz OC 10.9.2 (13C62) System Def: MacPro 6,1 Latest Chameleon (I'll look up version later) PikerAlpha's SSDT generating script. (2 warnings about CPU and System types) All stepping and power options enabled in BIOS Using RampageDev's latest DMG I was able to get all turbo states working from 32 to 45. Geekbench results 23,805! This only worked after I REMOVED the MSRPatcher from modules. Lower states do not work. CPU type is unknown. The CPU fluctuates from 32 to 40 even at less than 1% load. When Geekbench is running, it stays at a constant 45. Sleep works! Thats my update to date. All other attempts resulted in 3 states reported, (12 32 45) though the system only used 12 and 45. I have 4206 coderushed, StepContextDict from mini 6,2 in the Mac Pro 6,1 plist. I use Mac Pro 6,2 smbios data and pikes prgen ssdt with plugin 1. I see the CPU stepping from 12 all the way up in HWMon and IPG. Just to test, try saving your bios settings to a profile so you can revert and then load optimized defaults. Then set EIST to disabled and C1E to enabled.Also, for unknown CPU newest versions of chameleon with MacPro6,1 smbios data, use SMoemcputype (key) 2561 (string) in smbios Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I have known of a patch to return lower states but right now I need people to focuse on turbo and find which boards msr's are locked. Thanks. RobLans Posted February 25, 2014 Share Posted February 25, 2014 @rampagedev Okay it seems (after double check that for shure) turbo is realy working okay for me on R4E SB-E i7-3930k with Beta ssdt-1 from Rampagedev, with modified AICPUPM SB-E from @omni, and latest script v12.2 from @Pike (generated wo plugin-type one property, (so which means ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin loaded). In HWMonitor I can see clearly mutiplier step moving between 12- 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38 (without over clock and Turbo, C3, C6, C7 [Enabled] in Bios), So i think thats pretty cool testing result on latest 10.9.2 build 13C62 Note: Tested with MacPro6,1 smbios settings Rob I know the fix for Lowe states but I want to foucus on turbo and what bios have locked msr's so when 10.9.2 goes final there will be 0 issues. And if they are the same files, as you mentioned, I have no idea now how it was working with Multi's between 34->43 previously. Will have to investigate further. Maybe the chameleon update broke it.
