Just an update on my n4110 hackintosh.

I had an issue with my wireless card that i bought. Even though its an AW-NB290 it doesn't seem to be compatible with my dell. Also my sticker was on the reverse side instead of the side where the antennas plug into.

Anyways, I ended up ordering another card. It arrived. I installed the card. And sure enough it works perfectly!

I also installed a backlit keyboard also. I am confident that this laptop is prefect for daily use. Its actually been up and running without a single glitch or reboot while i waited for the new card to arrive.

Thanks for everyone who helped me out :) much appreciated.

Also I am completely new to clover. I ive been looking at a few graphical boot menus. Currently i am using the text based one. From my understanding i use EFI mounter to mount the EFI partition and i use clover configuration to apply a theme? Any suggestions would be great :)

Timewalker,

So you have more information on how what you had to buy and solder to get handoff working? :)

You use the EFI Mounter app to mount the ESP, yes. But to set up the themes you can just use new software coded by blackosx, which allows you to manage the themes easily.

P.S. I don't condone using Clover Configuration, it's not an official tool and frankly is not needed, everything can be configured by reading Wiki page and using a plist editor app.

To have Handoff support you will have to go through a lot ..

1. You need the 18 pin Apple card, either BCM9431CD or BCM94360, which use normal uFL antennae connectors.

2. You need an additional antenna, a flat one preferably, to connect bluetooth, unless you have two extra WWAN antennae in your unit.

3. You need a convertor card, from Apple 18 pin to mPCI-E card, but all of these convertors are full-size mPCI-E length wise.

4. If you don't have WWAN, like I don't in my laptop, then your only option is to get a spare card (the one that didn't work for you, lol) and using a heat gun remove all the components from it, then solder respective wires using a flat flex cable jumping pins from clean half mPCI-E to the mPCI-E converter card.

For multitouch gestures to work you have to assign F3 and F6 keys to whichever action you fancy. I have them set to Expose and Show Desktop. Command+X is assigned to toggle notification center and Dell Support Center is configured to show Launchpad. The touchpad speeds is indeed to high and has been corrected, but I haven't uploaded a changed config yet - not too many changes to roll out a new revision.

actually i found the Dell Support Center keys are broken ? cause when i press it, no LED light while it lights in windows. i will test it with debug voodoo driver.

Edit:

Dell Support Center  are broken,  dead in Mac and windows. :hysterical:

Hello.

Clover is undergoing some serious rewamp right now, until it's finished I'm not touching the configs (also, why would I, anyway?). The only kext that hasn't been updated for Yosemite (just generally updated, really) is the voodoo kext, to reduce touchpad sensivity when scrolling. Other than that, all the kexts have been updated with rev 1.1.1 of SCT package. Though true, ACPIBattery driver hasn't been updated, but the update functionality is irrelevant to our line-up of laptops, like I said earlier, I will push these with a next major update.

I got a quick question. I acquired a broken macbook. So now i have a legit serial number...

how do i change the serial number on my mac. I cant seem to find the extras folder...

Nevermind. I realized that its the clover folder... just opened it up in text wrangler. And changed all the info.

I do have another problem though. I open up clover themes manager. and i mount the efi partition. but when i apply the theme it doesn't change when i reboot the computer...

I have been having problems playing HD content from Netflix or iTunes as both fail HDCP compatibility. I don't have anything plugged into my system and I'm using the built-in LCD:

I suppose you are the only one, not sure what the cause is for your misery.

lol. I finally managed to install it, had to use "load video bios" in clover. It took 1h give or take for each step. The only bug I noticed is during boot, when the Apple logo is distorted (looks like a video bug), but then it goes to the login screen with no problems.

Months after my new HDD arrived (got a 3rd generation 1tb Seagate SSHD) I never had any more issues with slow response I was having with the Samsung one.

Now next step is to acquire a broken MBP in order to use the Serial and then iMessage. :)

EDIT: Nevermind, just called apple care and got registered :)

Hey guys, which you consider being a good wifi adapter to replace in my Vostro, apart from the apple stock (it involves too much manual skills to install, something I am not good at haha)?

I have a DW 1702, and bought a DW 1510, then discovered it doesn't have bluetooth! I am totally getting a iPhone 6 and want to all the Handoff/Continuity features to work :D

  • 2 weeks later...

Hello, maybe someone can explain to me what I am doing wrong? The problem is that I can’t boot my yosemite without boot clover usb. First I put the “boot clover usb” to one usb port ant then put another usb flash with yosemite installation to second usb port. The I turn on my laptop Dell Vostro 3450 and press F12 and get this window

post-328828-0-76650200-1417626631_thumb.jpg

After that, I press Enter and boots Clover USB flash

post-328828-0-85451600-1417626732_thumb.jpg

I choose "Boot Mac OS X from Yosemite Install Disk - 10.10

Then loads and I get welcome screen

post-328828-0-63514300-1417626889_thumb.jpg

Then I open Disk Utility and create new partition

post-328828-0-49933900-1417626990_thumb.jpg

After that I quit disk utility and choose YOSEMITE partition to install MAC OS X

post-328828-0-86274000-1417627096_thumb.jpg

installation began

post-328828-0-69430100-1417627139_thumb.jpg

Installation completed and the laptop reboots

post-328828-0-05225600-1417627277_thumb.jpg

Again I press F12, from F12 boot manager I choose USB storage device, and Clover menu loads, then I choose "Boot MAC OS X from Yosemite".

post-328828-0-75523700-1417627460_thumb.jpg

Yosemite is loaded

post-328828-0-69604600-1417627520_thumb.jpg

So, then I open DELL SCT OSX Support 1.1.1

post-328828-0-86797200-1417628132_thumb.jpg

Choose my settings and install

post-328828-0-40124200-1417628163_thumb.jpg

After installation press close button

post-328828-0-66605000-1417628219_thumb.jpg

Then eject CLOVER USB flash drive and rebooting my laptop, after reboots I get "Operation system not found", again restart laptop press F12 and get the same with no differents boot manager

post-328828-0-76650200-1417626631_thumb.jpg

So what I am doing wrong, please help, because without CLOVER USB flash drive I can't boot my Yosemite.

Thanks.

Anyone having problem with iMessage?

He stopped working and giving me the following message.
I do not know what's wrong, because I have begotten another ROM, MLB and SerialNumber and did not give way.
In MLB, put the SerialNumber + 5digitos (letters and number) = 17 characters.
In ROM, put the MAC.
And the SerialNumber was generated by the configurator clover.

Is something missing? I will attach my config.plist for analysis.

ps: I'm using the clover rev.3050 and Yosemite 10.10.1
