Thanks Ikyo75.

@counter5th, are u sure you formatted the partition in GUID mode, thats a primary reason why clover fails. I have clover set as native so no more pushing in the usb, it directly loads the clover screen (set to instant load OSX) and then to OSX.

Havnt  solved AppStore yet, hopefully I will figure that out based on your feedback.

@ mythamp,

Yup. I even did a clean install with just OS X formatted guid. Clover installation would still fail. I don't recall the exact error in the clover log but for the life of me I couldn't figure it out. I though maybe it had something to do with the ssd itself. Either way, my surface already had a guid partition scheme with windows 8 installed out of the box before I tried installing OSX.

I did manage to copy over the clover EFI files from the boot usb so I don't actually need it to boot. Good luck with the App Store. Just make sure you use the NUllethernet.kext found in the RELEASE folder and be methodical when you follow the steps. I'm sure you will succeed.

Here are some of the peripherals I'm currently testing. I purchased all from amazon.

IOGEAR Bluetooth 4.0 USB Micro Adapter (GBU521)- works OOTB

Manvex Leather Case for the Microsoft Surface PRO Tablet **NOW COMPATIBLE with the SURFACE PRO 2 / ALSO WORKS with both Microsoft Keyboards! - fantastic case at a great price that will give us 1st gen owners more viewing angle flexibility. bonus, it has a loop to hold the stylus. now i don't have to worry about it getting lost in my bag!

UNITEK USB3.0 3 ports HUB with 1 RJ45 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet LAN Wired Network Adapter for Notebooks - works with driver provided by manufacturer. In my opinion a great way to consolidate a usb hub and Ethernet adapter. Plus it retains USB 3 functionality. I see a lot of people purchasing the Juice Link usb/sd card adapter for surface rt. you lose usb 3 and can not use it with a case.

Unitek usb3.0 hub SDXC SDHC SD card reader combo with OTG adapter a Built-in 1ft USB 3.0 Cable for Notebook - another usb 3 hub with built in sd adapter. I will return this one and keep the one with the Ethernet port and instead purchase an SD to USB3 adapter

Edimax EW-7811Un 150 Mbps Wireless 11n Nano Size USB Adapter - works with driver provided by manufacturer. Poor signal range. Like other have stated on this forum, sometime it shows a connection but drops out. Speed has also been rather poor. I will test an alternative I have listed below.

I will order these tonight and report back later in the week

SanDisk Extreme Plus 64 GB microSDHC Class 10 UHS-I Memory Card ... by SanDisk - I plan to format it exfat so both OS's can access it. The new 128 ultra card is a good alternative but I would rather have speed and wait until they have a 128 extreme pro.

Bolse® [New Release] 300Mbps Wifi Wireless-N USB Micro Mini Adap... by Bolse - very interested in this adapter. Looks only slightly bigger than the edimax plus it has an attachable antennae. The listing states osx support via drivers.

Anker® Uspeed USB 3.0 Card Reader 8-in-1 for SDXC, SDHC, SD, MMC... by Anker - SD card reader adapter. Keeps USB 3 speeds. Should be great for unloading photos on trips!

Hope this helps people with purchases.

<surface1osx>

Hi everybody!

So far i got it up running pretty well. SwitchResX works like a charme, after purchasing it (my 14 Days testing, where gone in 2 hours ???!!! ...)

One more thing is a little teddious... sometimes it boots up "slow" - busting switresx, choppy audio... next time it will boot up fine, with everything working. Is there a "fix"?

Thanx in Advance.

Temperatures are good and safe, i get from 40° to 50° idle and a maximum of 80°, btw keep in mind that even if theorically a fan dies, when the cpu reach 100°, the surface will shuts itself off for "safety" reasons.

Thanks.  I get nervous when my main rig hits 75*.

i was able to fix the missing sleep slider in the systems preferences.  it turns out i accidentally installed the macbook air 6,2 system id instead of 5,2.

configuring sleep still does not work though.  if i leave the machine alone, the screen goes black but i can still see the wifi dongle flashing in the usb port and an orange light flashing on the right where the micro sd card slot is.  i can also clearly hear the fans humming along.

manually engaging sleep from the apple menu results in a dark screen with the usb wifi dongle light turning off eventually.  the fans do turn off about 3-5 minutes after indicating that the machine has entered some kind of sleep/hibernation.  once it enters this state, i cannot wake it back up.  the machine is unresponsive and i have to do a hard reboot.

this usually results in a longer boot up time that makes voodooHDA sound glitch.  if i reboot one more time, it usually clears out whatever issue, resulting in a boot time of about 10 seconds from the clover screen.  sound works fine after that.

i've noticed that voodooHDA is very sensitive to system errors.  i has having trouble installing a wifi kext earlier and the sound would glitch until i fixed permissions and rebooted.  i can alway tell that the sound will not work correctly if the boot time is longer that 10-12 seconds.  a good successful boot usually mean i don't see the spinning icon on the apple screen.

@philmoure

you can probably fix that with a new driver.

@counter5th

can you please remove the pictures of the devices you tested?

is just to keep the thread as clean as possible.

Thanks

@ JahStories,

Done. I thought it would be helpful for people to see the devices.

@philmoure,

I keep having trouble with this adapter. It randomly disconnects and I have to reboot. On reboot it usually causes a kernel panic. I also cannot connect it or disconnect while the machine is running. The supplied wireless connection app crashes and refuses to close. It requires a hard reboot. So in order for me to use this adapter, I have to shut down, plug it in and then boot. Kind of a pain in the ass.

@ counter5th,

I have been using a Linksys WUSB6300 ac WIFI USB adapter. with a a Vantec 3-port USB HUB with Gigabyte Ethernet with no issues (yet)....

I know this adapter is bigger then the nano size adapters, but with the USB 3.0 Hub it works for me..  I plan on somehow attaching the USB hub, Bluetooth & Wifi adapters to the Surface PRO to use without the keyboard..

@ everyone

I have tried the drawing program "Mischief" it has pressure sensitivity with the Touchpad Drivers. works great with the pen if you turn off touch input and use just the pen, I use this method to filer out all not pen touches and for palm rejection... It has both  OSX and Windows versions:

@ Frank,

Thanks for trying. I have a old linksys wusb600n v1 that I'm trying with similar results. I can plug it in before or after boot but if I remove it while the machine is on it crashes. It makes juggling peripherals kinda hard.

surface pro 2

counter5th

                    i don't have any disconnect problems the adaptor runs fine, maybe yours is faulty.

                    i do have the same problem of having to reboot every time i insert or take out the adaptor, a real pain when you want to use

                    another device.

                    and as far as i know I'm using the latest driver, that i could find.

                    I have tried a different adaptor with Ralink 5370 chipset, i can pull it out without problems but it freezes the system

                when i plug it back in, so not much better.
