@cs4602

You may not like to hear it, but the way I fixed my slow issue was completely reinstalling the OS and being careful with installing the audio patch and others. The last time I accidentally used the SP1 patch instead of 2, causing major slowness. Just food for thought.

Don't worry, I've reinstalled about 20 times since 0.1 to 0.3 files. Always the same results. For some strange reason it happens once in a blue moon that I reboot and it works fine... Then I reboot again and the slowness is back. I tell you, that thing makes no sense.

(androsurface2)

@ricardo87

both androidia and androidx86 support dual boot with windows without any hack, just using provided installers...

btw you should probably manually install grub efi if you choose androidX86...

androidia image, fixed for the surface is hard to get, there is no mirriors and you have to register to a chinese forum and use google translate.

btw you can try this version, but you'll probably need an usbwifi key.

I am having problem with the last Firmware update. Check attach image.

Other devices is system cover telemetry.

I resolved this issue but moving back the windows8.efi file that should be in your /EFI/windows/ directory back to the original file, and rebooting, then updating, (This will oviously remove your dual boot)

Then boot off your thumb drive and load back into the osx partition.

Then go back to the \EFI\Windows partition moving the efi file back to window8.tmp.efi after updating..

That's how I got rid of that errors. I'm assuming your gonna have to do this after every windows firmware update.

(surfaceosx), maybe even (surface2osx)

For anyone who would like to use a "keyboard shortcut" to increase/decrease the brightness level: I may have found a way how to do it. Try pressing "volume up"/"volume down" buttons on the side of your tablet while holding the "windows logo" key below the screen. The "volume down" button increases the brightness, "volume up" decreases it.

Bonus: there may be a way how to change the resolution from an attached keyboard. Open "Keyboard Viewer" (needs to be enabled in System Preferences) before pressing the described key shortcut to see which strange key combination it causes. You can then try to press the same keys on your keyboard, if possible. As I don't have the Surface keyboard ([Type|Touch] Cover) I have no way of trying it myself.

P.S. Thanks for the great work!

I bought the adapter wifi usb EDIMAX EW7811UN, because it was recommended here and because it is very small.

Unfortunately with the current driver (for Mavericks 10.9), if it is disconnected blocks all operating system and for me this is a serious problem.

I would buy another adapter always small that do not have this defect.

I ask you to help me find a good one. Which you use?

Thank you.

StefanoMacOSX:

If you install the 7811UTC driver package for the 802.11ac usb dongle, the package installs an updated StartUP package that fixes most of the crashes.

Hope that helps!

Hello seanmdevlin, thank you for your advice.
I tried to download these drivers from you recommended: http://www.edimax.com/en/support_detail.php?pd_id=498&pl1_id=28&pl2_id=138
Unfortunately they do not recognize my wifi dongle (Edimax EW7811UN)! Too bad!
Do you advise me some mini usb wifi dongle that does not block the system when it is disconnected?
Thanks!

I have finally gotten pretty much everything working on my (SURFACEPRO) except the pen and touch functions.

I am curious about a couple of things related to screen resolution:

1. If you mess up the screen res how do you get it back when you can't see the screen?

(Did that once already... don't want to have to reload or copy files over from another copy, besides Win 8.1 is on the other drive now...)

2. Which of the listed creen resolutions actually work with out making your screen go to an unviewable mode?

(Surface Pro)

Realtek 802.11ac (1GigE WiFi)

Possible Realtek RTL8811AU based 802.11ac GigE usb WIFI adapter driver for the Surface Pro.

http://www.osx86.net/files/file/3585-realtek-80211ac-1gige-wifi/

Confirmed LinkSYS WUSB6300 adapter working on my I5 based desktop, (See signature),  with OSX 10.9.2 Mavericks. Link shows all the supported devices for the driver, it is in .pkg installer.

I haven't completed my install on my SurfacePro yet, will test the adapter when I do.

I didn't mean to misinform you, the full package installs drivers (for 7811UTC), connection manager (for AC only) and updates some other "StartUP" package common to both installations.  I believe updating this common "StartUP" program may have fixed some of the crashing problems when running the interface for the 7811Un dongle.  So far this is the only dongle I've had to get internet working.

1. As long as you have access to another Mac, you can enable screen sharing on the Surface ("System Preferences > Sharing > check the box next to Screen Sharing") and control the surface from there if its display resolution is messed up. If you "only" have access to a Windows/Linux box, go back to the "Sharing" pref panel, click in "Computer Settings..." and enable the VNC access there. Then you can remotely control OS X using a VNC client running on your Windows/Linux box.

2. I haven't tried every possible permutation but the only ones I've found to work are the native one (duh!), the scaled resolution Jah posted on the front page and the resulting HiDPI one.

Surface2Pro

Anyone else but me that has problems with audio glitches? Spotify, Airplay and sometimes even videos get out of audio sync or get periodic dropouts. And my volume button feedback klicks are also lagging a bit. I use the VoodoHDA technique as described in the guide. This also seems to affect pro audio software like Logic and Live - they both report that the sample rate change over time and is not syncable with the internal midi clock.

I also get the same problem when trying any class compliant external USB-audio device instead of the built in one.

Just wanted to see if anyone else has these problems before I do a reinstall.

Thanks in advance + cheers,

/knod

Just wanted to stop in and say thanks. I'd bee on the fence about purchasing a surface pro 2, but this thread made me buy a 256 Surface Pro 2. I'm going to have to read all this thread to see if I can dual or triple boot. Also need to find what the best wifi adaptor is for OSX.

Thanks again.

Same thing happens on my 1st gen Surface Pro. Seeing as you have the same prolem, I doubt it's an issue with the hardware (1st or 2nd gen Surface Pro) so much as it is with the driver itself. Also quite possible that both generations of the Surface Pro share the same audio chip and that it just isn't that fond of the VoodoHDA kext (or vice versa)?

If you got the black screen from switchresx:

boot up in some way (safe mode or safe-mode + disable intel graphics injection, for example)

then open up switchresx; go to general settings and enable the setting that says "launch switchresx daemon automatically after startup".

reboot, and when osx boots up(with black screen) push "Alt+esc" to revert back to original resolution.
