Mirone
AUGUST 4, 2013 Resolving the DP4 HDMI hang People with a HDMI (only) display plugged-in at boot time, may run into a system hang with OS X 10.9 DP4. We here resolved this with a workaround – modified one of the frame buffers: 03 00 22 0D 00 03 03 03 00 00 00 02 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 40 99 14 00 00 99 14 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 03 06 10 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 05 12 00 04 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 02 04 14 00 00 08 00 00 00 00 00 00 FF 00 01 00 01 00 00 00 40 00 00 00 02 00 00 00 01 01 00 00 04 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 Apple is probably going to fix the HDMI problems in OS X 10.9 DP5 or with a Graphics Update for DP4 but until then this workaround can be used. Just give it a try and let us know if it works for your setup/motherboard as well. Thanks! Did you notice what we did with the FB Index? Indeed. We removed the delays and changed the FB Index order to: 3, 1 and 2. This gives us port-number: 7, 5 and 6. Adding a delay on the last framebuffer (used for HDMI here) changes the port-number from 6 to 0, but that isn’t causing us any problem. At least not here with our setups. Reposted courtesy of PikeR Alpha. Where do I find these values to edit? My Graphic card is a Geforce GT620 and its framebuffer no such key. only in AppleIntelFramebufferAzul.kext Anyone know how to change the ports for HDMI NVidia Geforce cards? Mirone
yes, I tried to use AppleIntelFramebufferAzul.kext dp3 and nothing's changed. Tomorrow or later must leave DP5 and all this must be corrected.

shiecldk
afd_sg.... which means so general as "I use DP and have no problems"? I also used DP1, DP2 and DP3 WITHOUT problems ONLY makes the DP4 with HDMI problems! you should write a bit more detail if you DVI (without problems) or HDMI with the problems as we have also used. He means Displayport, not Developer Preview.
martinherrmann
i can confirm the CPU Halted error is gone when you install DP1 install USB and then update: DP2-> DP3-> DP4 in that order
buck1127
Mavericks DP5 came out and fixed the issue. Darn screen was flickering during install then after it rebooted it was perfectly normal
bluenote56
After the graphic issue now with DP5 everything is ok. I just had to do the usual thing for ALC892, trim enable and Intel HD 3000 with kext utility.
Guest wader1111
Awesome!!! updated to DP5 and everything works well! and can't wait to try out iBooks But right after you click the restart button in the software update window, you need to unplug your HMDI cable...or else it'll hang with that white screen with the spinning icon in the center before it even gets to the installing update screen. At least that's how it was for me. Oh and the new iTunes Radio is pretty awesome...and it now shuts down like twice as fast as DP4. Love it! no new bugs or issues as far as I know! prezrok
You are talking about Upgrade to DP5 and we are stuck in the instalation of DP4... Any suggestion?Get a DVI cable, I read through the entire conversation, unplugging and replugging hdmi didn't work for me. I tried using dvi instead and presto, it worked, now I can update to DP5. Alternatively, if you have a real Mac, you can take your hard drive out, buy an external hdd enclosure, plug it into your Mac via usb, boot into the drive from a real Mac and run your update. But, honestly, just go with method 1.
