[How to]Clover on EFI partition/Add to Bios

i'm sorry, i can not install clover, i don't know why, please help me.

My laptop is Asus s56CA and I disabled Secure Boot, my mac is 10.9.0

+ I formated with newfs_msdos ->   disk1s2-> FAT16 and can not install clover

+ I formated with newfs_hfs  -> disk1s2  -> hfs and can not install clover too

u need to mount it manualy!

your efi partition its disk1s2 and not disk1s1!

use this comand

mkdir /Volumes/efi

sudo mount -t msdos /dev/disk1s2 /Volumes/efi

after that copy clover installation manualy.

Never do FAT16, it must be exactly FAT32!

You can't install Clover because it try disk1 while you will use disk2

set

sudo newfs_msdos -v EFI -F 32 /dev/rdisk2s1

Clover wasnt booting from OS X only from usb .But when i installed windows in my HDD it boots fine now .Why this happend?

You can try formatting your EFI partition to FAT32 in terminal with newfs_msdos (replace X with your disk number, Y is usually 1):

sudo newfs_msdos -v EFI -F 32 /dev/rdiskXsY

The recommended way by Apple is to clone over a disk image of a working EFI partition eg from a GUID partitioned OSX install USB:  see post by pmjordan in this thread.

 

" If disk1 is your external drive, and it contains an ESP as the first partition (disk1s1) and disk0 is the drive whose ESP (disk0s1) you want to fix, run this command:

sudo dd if=/dev/disk1s1 of=/dev/disk0s1

This will copy every single block of disk1's ESP and overwrite the corresponding block in disk0's ESP with it."

So that's why my BIOS only finds my USB as an UEFI file system and not my 2 HDD's? Been trying over and over again to let Clover detect my HD's. My BIOS shows my HDD's as AHCI but won't boot them as UEFI.

 

I have an Asrock Z77 Fatal1ty pro-m

in my previous installation osx/clover I could do in my clover hdd boot normally without adding it in a bios option.

Now, the current version of clover I installed, the boot does not work and I need to add an option in the bios.

 

What can it be?

@LexHimself - thanks for the tips on formatting the EFI partition.  I had my M2 SSD quit working right after I added another drive in my system.  I was pretty confused what happened, but a USB Stick saved the day.  Booted back up, applied the formatting and re-installed Clover.  All better.

just saw this guide and thought it might be worth adding the line 

 

diskutil umount /dev/diskXsX (where X is your mounting point/partition number for EFI)

 

Reason for this is that some people might get a "resource busy" message when trying to re-format EFI even when the partition hasn't been manually mounted at all - at least mine did when I plugged in my pen drive that had an existing EFI partition on it - and the above command will unmount the EFI partition without unmounting the whole drive - therefore keeping disk identifiers. 

 
Seen people confused by that message, so hope this helps someone.
