besttech
I have a lenovo g780 with a core i5 processor. I have been trying to install mountain lion for a while now. Everything I tried I get still waiting for root device error. So i finally tried to make a vanilla usb using http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/280756-guide-the-all-in-one-guide-to-vanilla-os-x-mountain-lion-chameleon-dsdt-for-beginners/ I still get still waiting for root device error. My bios is set to ahci. The only other mode is compatible and i tried that and it still didnt work. Help. Please
eep357
with USB, problem is not AHCI/sata. Try PciRoot=1, USBBusFix=Yes (hope I typed those right) or changing USB settings in bios
besttech
It didnt work, I still get the error. But before the error i get SATA WARNING: Enable suto-activate failed
eep357
Ok, I probably had the syntax wrong there, but if you looked up the right way and tried that, then that's fine. What's the device ID for your intel sata controller?
besttech
The intell sata controller device ID is 1e03.
eep357
OK, your fine there. After also trying -x -f -v (which you probably already did)..... And I'm glad you mentioned this; SATA WARNING: Enable auto-activate failed -is very likely due to a hardware failure (or partial failure) such as bad or loose sata cable, failing HD, HD firmware issue, etc.

c0rrupts3ct0r
ML-10.8.3 LAPTOP LENOVO T420.zip I used the folder you attached, but it detects my CPU's graphics as HD 3000 and not HD 4000, USB does not work, and neither does ethernet. Etherner is Atheros, I have usb 2 and USB 3 on this laptop, and the Atheros wifi does not get detected (i think its 9285 or 9287)

besttech
This link has wifi kext http://www.osx86.net/view/2471-atheros_ar9285.html get your smbios from chameleon wizard and put it in the extra folder. In chameleon wizard under org.chameleon.plist in device properties put in the following code for Intel HD 4000 graphics 7f0000000100000001000000730000000200000002010c00d041030a000000000101060000027fff04002c0000004100410050004c002c00690067002d0070006c006100740066006f0072006d002d006900640000000800000004006601140000006800640061002d0067006600780000000d0000006f6e626f6172642d31
c0rrupts3ct0r
ok I got the wifi working, but i did your thing w/ chameleon wizard and it still shows HD 3000 w/ no acceleration, but I do have the right resolution. could it be that stuff that i put in for that T420 that i fire attached? besttech
I think it is because you have the wrong smbios.plist. In chameleon wizard under smbios.plist you should create a new one according to your processor. This will correct the problem. So the smbios you put from the t420 might be the wrong one for your computer.
