[GUIDE] 1st Generation Intel HD Graphics QE/CI

ASK :  after i'm install the driver (kext) from your file (Intel HD Graphics QE/CI 10.9) via kext utility, then i'm reboot my pc, it booted, and then after apple boot screen (spinning logo) stop spinning and don't go to the desktop, also i've installed natit.kext, so i just got QE.

After installing OS X 10.9, I found out the IntelHD..FB.kext doesn't have any Info.plist inside. There are also some other files missing.

So I just downloaded/used your provided (10.9) package.

 

I did the installation with the (excellent) tutorial provided on this forums, but I've somehow the idea Apple moved some things elsewhere? Would it be possible they link to the IntelHD3000/4000 kexts instead?

beta992, did you use Pandora to prepare your installation? There is a known issue with it not creating all info.plists. I would suggest a reinstall with myhack or some other way to be sure you have a "full" install and to save time in checking every file.

No, I did use the manual way: copying the .pkg's to Packages folder. It always worked, until now for some reason. Thanks for pointing me to myhack, but does this not hack the installer to much?

Actually, the files are there but just hidden lol Apple has hidden plist files and other files so people won't mess with them. I guess it creates the illusion that Apple has increase security.

5. Power Management

This applies to users that use Chameleon Bootloader.

 

If you have enabled only Core Image or if you enabled Quartz Extreme with Core Image, it is important to have power management working correctly. If you don't then the computer will overheat and possibly turn off without warning.

 

Computers that have a 2010 1st Generation Intel Core i Series processor (Core i3, Core i5, Core i7) are able to natively use the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext without any problem.

 

Before proceeding, make sure you are not using NullCPUPowerManagement.kext. If you are using it, delete it and rebuild cache.

Try using KernelPatcher.dylib module. It makes Core i work on HP laptops (like mine). You can find it in the Chameleon bootloader pkg.

Thanks for the tip.  I updated Chameleon, installing the KernelPatcher module like you suggested, and renamed NullCPUPowerManagement.kext's extension to .old to prevent it from loading (also making it easier to re-install should I still get a KP), and rebooted with my fingers crossed.  Normally, the KP occurred prior to the login screen.  However, this time, I got to the login screen, typed in my password, pressed enter, and instead of being greeted with my lovely desktop, I got greeted with a friendly Kernel Panic caused by that ever-so-nice kernel extension AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext.  Here's the screenshot attached (The sticky note on the screen was to censor my last name, which is on my login screen).

i am facing the same issue previously, I guess i know the answer why we both are unable to locate any Info.plist. It is because we download the Install OSX Mavericks.app from torrent site. Somehow the file seems to be incomplete. I was lucky enough to get into Mac OSX using that InstallESD(torrent) and download a new and legit one from the apps store. Then i do a new installation and everything is there again. Try it.

RE: FAQ item #10... The chirping/squeaking/whining/clicking/etc sound is not related to your audio, but is actually a side effect of the aggressive OSX power consumption model (search "that site that ends in x86" for "hackintosh squeaking noise").  The reason? Cheap parts in your laptop. There is a workaround: disable C states.  Disabling C states has terrible consequences though (more load on your parts leading to shorter life, and less battery time).

i am facing the same issue previously, I guess i know the answer why we both are unable to locate any Info.plist. It is because we download the Install OSX Mavericks.app from torrent site. Somehow the file seems to be incomplete. I was lucky enough to get into Mac OSX using that InstallESD(torrent) and download a new and legit one from the apps store. Then i do a new installation and everything is there again. Try it.

To be complete: I haven't used any illegal version (as you call it torrent). The version I used is downloaded off the Apple Store. I extracted this as said in the tutorial.

 

It maybe that the store version has been updated a few days ago.

Guys, I am sorry if this is not the right theme, or did I miss something, while reading 33 pages however I have a problem to even boot mac os x on my hp dv4-2154ca which (unlucky for me) have only Intel HD Graphics (first gen). I have created the usb using the official ML app and it starts to boot normally and to load the kexts. Right after loading the last kext and starting to recognize the hardware and boot into the graphic installer all I see is a black screen for few seconds followed by a restart. No messages, no kernel panics/errors no nothing so it is really hard for me to do any troubleshooting at all.

 

So far I have tried to replace Intel HD kexts on the usb installer /s/l/e as well as putting them on /extra with smbios plist however so far did not move even an inch further and all it does is to read kexts and restart. I got exactly the same problem with any mac os x version from 10.5 to mavericks.

 

Any ideas how can I at least see the installing window? As I know that the notebook won't be bad at all for SL or even ML/Mavericks however I need to boot on it first and install it.

 

Also, no booting flags I have tried worked for me too where most of them were: cpus=1 , busratio=16, uspci=0x2000/3000, pcirootuid=1/0 , graphicsenabler=yes/no, -v, -f, -x

 

I would really really really appreciate if anyone can point me to a better direction as I have hit my head against the wall for several nights and days now with zero success so far. Thanks in advance.

RE: FAQ item #10... The chirping/squeaking/whining/clicking/etc sound is not related to your audio, but is actually a side effect of the aggressive OSX power consumption model (search "that site that ends in x86" for "hackintosh squeaking noise").  The reason? Cheap parts in your laptop. There is a workaround: disable C states.  Disabling C states has terrible consequences though (more load on your parts leading to shorter life, and less battery time).

Mavericks GM has released. Luckily it seems that there's nothing changed. The patcher still works.

But I sometimes face a problem which the screenshot shows after I work for a long time. The original kexts from GM is also provided below.

A restart can fix the problem temporarily. But I want to know how to solve it forever.

Did you fix this? I'm using LCD+VGA FB.

I'm gonna test just only LCD FB and will report here if it brings some results or not

Having a month of using Mavericks, I never encountered this problem. I think this may be an internal hardware issue. If this happens after 4 hours, maybe the IGPU is overheated and some of its processing components have been damaged?

For me, I have to use a busratio command to override the auto-restart.  However, different processors (and I mean even models, i3-370M is a different model than i3-350M, and each may have a different busratio.)  Normally, the kernel auto-detects the busratio and will take it into account.  If that auto-detection fails, your computer reboots.  If the busratio you specified is wrong for your specific processor, it will also reboot.  Check to see if your processor is the Intel Core i3-330M in Windows (use CPU-Z).  If it is (as I suspect based on your laptop model), then your busratio is, in fact, 16.  I see you used both cpus=1 and busratio=16.  For my HP laptop, I have to use both the cpus=1 and busratio command to boot to OS X properly.  When you say you tried those commands, did you try them together or separately?  Try typing both into the bootloader prompt like this:

cpus=1 busratio=16

and see if it boots.  If it doesn't, I recommend starting a new thread in the OSx86 Installation board.  This issue likely isn't related to the Intel HD Graphics, so if you continue to have issues, try posting in a new thread.  If you successfully get OS X installed and then have trouble enabling the Graphics Card, then feel free to post back here.

IGPU sensors doesn't work for me, but my CPU temp is just fine (around 44-50 C)

You are right, that I did not mention using the both options together, so as far as I have tried thousands of combinations, I just booted up again the Mavericks installer and applied cpus=1 busratio=16 (16 is confirmed 100% corect for my Intel Core 3 330m) and it is still rebooting. I am starting to think that it is a bad combination between the cpu and kernel where a panic attack is caused but is quickly dropped because of the reboot. I will try to create a bootable hard drive with iB..t (latest version) hoping that it will support my cpu precisely. One thing is weird though, that I do see the post install to recognize my CPU name, cores and frequency.

 

Well anyway, you are also right that it might not be Video related problem, so I will open up another thread hoping to have somebody sharing any thoughts and ideas about how to solve the problem. Best of luck and thank you for your reply!

I may be a little late to the game here, but I followed your guide and I have full QE/CI on my Pavilion DV6-2150us, so thank you very much for that.

 

However I have an unreasonable amount of lag or choppiness when trying to play games. Now lets be realistic, i know this is not a "gaming" card, but Half-Life 2 should run at max settings, I have played Half-Life 2 maxed out on a GMA965, so 1st gen HD graphics should be able to handle it no problem. I have tried, HL2, WoW, and LoL, so far and they are all choppy in exactly the same way, no matter what the settings of the game are set to. 

 

I have read through the forum, and this thread and have seen that I am definitely not the only one with this issue. Has anyone managed to solve this issue yet?

EDIT: I downloaded OpenGL Extensions Viewer and I noticed right away that it says I'm using "Apple Software Renderer"

Hi again, guys. I did managed to bring my Mavericks up and installed the Intel HD (First gen) which is working just fine for now but after putting the kexts with Kext helper, I have lost my USB connection. I am not sure what is the connection between those two, however before installing my video, everything was just working fine. Is it possible that the problem is in AppleIntelFB kext and I should try with the other possibilities LW1, 2, 3, 4 etc, ?

I have tried to fix the USB problem by setting USB Legacy = Off, as well as installing Rehabsman GenericUSBXHCI kext but so far no good. Any ideas or points?

Are they somehow related by the framebuffer or something? Now I am planning to try installing the kexts one by one and see after which one I will fail wit my USB's. However if anyone knows another way, kext or smth to fix my problem, can you please point me out to it?
