OS X compatible motherboard -> QUO

I remember checking out their site a few months back - I HATE IT (the site I mean). I think this motherboard is pretty cool, especially if its reasonably priced! But I cant see any updates on the site since 2009, other than the pre-built systems, and that horrid huge graphic that you have to click on the mini graphic just to see the rest of the page... ugh!! Please - THe KING - ask the developers to make the home page cleaner!

I eagerly await updates on price and availability!

It seems to be a special order from the Gbyte.

Not sell only the motherboard but the whole pc understood correctly ?

...and the prices is Hot.. no way..

I don't know from where you got those informations but they are wrong.

The board wil be sold separate or as whole PC, customer option, as far I know.

And the price will not be 'hot' at all, I'd say to wait for official answers instead speculations...

Here are a couple more pictures.

I've included a picture of the sata ports (4 are sata 2, 2 are sata3) and the codec (ALC892), again all of which work out of the box. For my setup I've only added the cpu and (lots of) ram.

I have tested the thunderbolt ports and I was able to boot up with the apple ethernet adapter working (although the internal connector works fine too).

My understanding is that the board will be sold standalone (but don't take my word on it) and will be comparable in price to current thunderbolt mobos. On neweggs website, the closet that I could find to this board in terms of number of ports is ~$240 (the GA-Z77X-UP5 TH). The facebook page that iztech listed does have a preliminary price listed there. This board does have firewire that the other one doesn't as well.

As far as the install procedure goes, seeing as I do some development work for chameleon, I decided to install with the legacy chameleon method. Using the latest chameleon, you can bootup the installesd + chameleon + fakesmc and do the complete install w/o anything else. If anyone wants a guide on how to do an install w/ this board and the installesd (and/or maybe a video), I'd be happy to make one.

As XyZ / THe KiNG mentioned, the board can boot os x with out chameleon as well (although I haven't tried it yet myself). There are a few custom efi modules in the firmware that let it load up boot.efi.

Is just a Z77Μx-D3H-TH motherboard with a different sound chip and firewire.

Where did you find that motherboard? As far as I can tell, there is no TH version of it (at least in the USA). Google can't find it; Newegg doesn't list it and neither does gigabyte's website.

--

Looks like i was able to find it, slightly different name ($200 on amazon's website from a third party seller)

There is a different audio codec, different network chipset, firewire, and assuming it really is the same, different firmware)

So main work / special is the BIOS (and perhaps using sound chip other chips which work out of the box with OS X)?

The BIOS has been worked on for a long time (over 6 months) and if you look at the I/O you will see the attention paid to the smallest details.

This is also the first board with FW 800 - 1394b

Intel LAN so you can do things that can not be done on other boards (details will follow)

We are also paying equal attention to Linux and Windows.

Also this is a community project we will continue to support devs.

Bare with us as we lay down the path...

The motherboard will be sold on it's own.

erm i think your mistaken.... the motherboard you link has Atheros Lan and VIA Audio, The Quo board has Intel 82574L LAN and ALC892 Audio Codec.

besides your option will take up an extra slot.

I wish it could be that easy to tuneup my Opel car into a Mercedes...

Is not that simple to just take a motherboard and start replacing chips with one that would fit better for some needs, there are a lot more involved then that, and clear you are not reading what we reply.

You are missing the point of this board, what is for and for who, and arguing about price, that is not even final decided/announced.

I smell something else here....

In your opinion what price point would be a good price for a custom board with Intel LAN, FW 400/800, TB, ability to ouptut multiple monitors with HD4000

Boot in under 10 seconds :wink2:

Also consider where this would take the osx86 community

Your input is appreciated.

Please first read in, it will help us in dialogue. :angel_not:

and the brand name + after sales servis is Gigabyte.

http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813128542

I don't see Thunderbolt on that motherboard, firewire or server class Intel LAN...

Or you don't have any idea what are you talking about, or if you do, you are trying to trow dirt on a project that is not even on market yet (to argue on price) for some unknown reason...

For now on I'll just ignore you.
