00felipe00
Just want to thank everyone in this thread! After 2 weeks I succesfully built a nice hackintosh. I would say a very stable system. Everything i need, except wifi (will get a usb-wifi soon) and the fn key. The rest is quite good, even power management - which was a problem im my old hackintosh. Tetonne
@tluck would it be possible to add : win 8.1 boot stuff in the next pack (a ready to use dual boot clover config)? and GUI/Custom/Entries to make clover GUI more sympathetic (name of partition)something like that post-688682-0-61824400-1385994263_thumb.png or as you want <dict><key>Disabled</key> <false/> <key>FullTitle</key> <string>OS X 10.9 - OSX+</string> <key>Hidden</key> <false/> <key>Hotkey</key> <string>m</string> <key>InjectKexts</key> <false/> <key>NoCaches</key> <false/> <key>Type</key> <string>OSX</string> <key>Volume</key> <string>OSX+</string> </dict> <dict> <key>Disabled</key> <false/> <key>FullTitle</key> <string>OS X 10.9 - Recovery</string> <key>Hidden</key> <false/> <key>Hotkey</key> <string>r</string> <key>InjectKexts</key> <true/> <key>NoCaches</key> <false/> <key>Type</key> <string>OSXRecovery</string> <key>Volume</key> <string>Recovery</string> </dict> <dict> <key>Disabled</key> <false/> <key>FullTitle</key> <string>OS X 10.8 - Macintosh HD</string> <key>Hidden</key> <false/> <key>Hotkey</key> <string>l</string> <key>InjectKexts</key> <false/> <key>NoCaches</key> <false/> <key>Type</key> <string>OSX</string> <key>Volume</key> <string>Macintosh HD</string> </dict> I've tested Yosemite on vmware, icons are not as beautiful as under previous OS X I've tested a bootable 10.10 usb key installer, i'll wait a bit more to make upgrade my main disk I found this interesting : http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/298027-guide-aio-guides-for-hackintosh/?do=findComment&comment=2019704
tluck
@tetonne - sure. i am open to what will help people build a hack. i think the zip and guide are pretty good right now, if i do say so myself! i suppose we can add a 2nd zip for MicroSoft boot. with some instructions on how to build/create/patch the bcd. i thought the Windows install does all that for you - meaning puts what it needs into the ESP? I don't know how much value a generic set of files will be .. meaning I don't know how to make it super easy. since the bcd file must point to your specific partition GUID, right? so if you have some more ideas please share. i don't quite understand the next 2 bullets requests - looks like something out Clover Configuration GUI (to add more partitions? for older versions?) Note: the current setup (config.plist + kexts) can boot OSX, RecoveryHD and Installation with the same/common single configuration. and i don't get any odd-ball icons that are messing up the view! and i agree, 10.10 use a much flatter 2D iPhone-ish looking UI. it will take some getting used to. but so far it works just fine on the T420. I like what they say will be there when 10.10 is GA, there will be some nice new iCloud doc sharing features that were sorely missing.
skoon432
Hi all- I was able (with a little help) to get an F5521gw WWAN card to work "properly" in OSX as a reported WWAN card rather than a simple USB dial-up modem. I can offer the kext if anyone needs it. Also, I assume that upgrading to 10.9.4 is not a good idea. Would it trash the current build? My X220 still working like a champ. Best hack I've built to date.

For sure your pack is great! the idea of the 1st bullet is a extra added to the pack for dual boot on a same HD (if possible and if it's easy to create) the 2nd bullet was about adding GUI/Custom/Entries such as <dict> <key>Disabled</key> <false/> <key>FullTitle</key> <string>OS X 10.9 - Power</string> <key>Hidden</key> <false/> <key>Hotkey</key> <string>m</string> <key>InjectKexts</key> <false/> <key>NoCaches</key> <false/> <key>Type</key> <string>OSX</string> <key>Volume</key> <string>Power</string> </dict> <dict> <key>Disabled</key> <false/> <key>FullTitle</key> <string>OS X 10.9 - Recovery</string> <key>Hidden</key> <false/> <key>Hotkey</key> <string>r</string> <key>InjectKexts</key> <true/> <key>NoCaches</key> <false/> <key>Type</key> <string>OSXRecovery</string> <key>Volume</key> <string>BFF540AD-1ED4-40D8-B7FC-BD34A3643D4F</string> </dict> this is for cosmetic reason and can be useful for trying 10.10 on a other hd Thnaks again for the time you spend and your great pack 10.94 is out i'm downloading it right now

Leonike
First off, thanks for the incredible guide. Got my new (used) T420 up and running quick. Can anyone recommend any replacement wifi cards for the T420? I know I'm gonna have to mod the bios to get around the whitelist, but are there any (cheap, preferably) ones with good hackintosh compatability? One with a working modded bios already available would be even better.
tluck
@tntkj you are welcome! i just used my own guide this week, as I bought a 2nd T420 (used from ebay) for my son. and then in about 5 minutes, I replaced the intel wifi with a Atheros AR9280 (AR5BHB92). these are the same cards used in a number of Dell (DW1515) or HP Pavilion laptops. i bought it used for about $6 US. from the windows install it came with, i flashed it up to original bios v1.46 and then flashed it with the modded bios. got the bits with the 2 items here. (see sovem's post for the rar file on mediafire) there may be other cards, but this worked for me now on both systems.
skoon432
I'm using a DW1515 WiFi card in my Lenovo X220 with 100% success after the bios mod. This along with tluck's guide makes for an ideal hackintosh solution that WORKS. Very stable and reliable.
Adrenalation
@tluck, I've been running one of your early guides with clover uefi on this thread, and I remember that at one time the more stable way was just to run it with a usb with an ESP on it with the clover boot files. Is this still necessary to eliminate some bugs that were associated running a ESP off the HD? Also, could you quite simply explain the process of installation to dual boot win7 + mac os the most updated way with the help of your mega-post? Concerns.... I have 1600x900 Res, t420 model type 4178-6WUS...... Is DSDT Patching required for hardware bugs? Is SSDT required? etc.
tluck
@Adrenalation - well good question. Somewhere around 10.9.2 + Clover fixes, the ESP (UEFI) problems have disappeared. i have resumed boot from HD and have not had a issue in months. i suggest you download the latest zip as it will the most recent clover config, dsdt and other kexts for 10.9.4. i find the easiest way dual boot is build a UEFI USB installer for MS windows (i like rufus tool) from the iso. install windows to a GPT disk. when you format the target partition for NTFS, remove the MSR windows adds before you install windows and it will put what it need in /EFI/Microsoft/Boot. then follow the guide for OSX (replace /EFI/BOOT and /EFI/CLOVER with the zip. its pretty much that easy. Terran Brown
Hi all I am running a Thinkpad 520 and so far the guide for the 420 has been spot on. I am how ever having problems booting once I install Clover to the hard drive. I get an error withiobluetoothhcicontroller searchfortransporteventtimeouthandler I have tried -f -v npci=0x2000 with no luck. Have any of you had this? Thanks Terran
tluck
@Terran Brown glad its working for you (mostly). as far as bluetooth, i would try 2 things to get boot from HD... make sure you can boot without BT. so test by turning off BT in the BIOS and then boot. depending on what version of OSX, BT kexts may get stuck if the vendor/product is not in the Info.plist. what OS version are you using? did you install all the kexts onto your HD? there is a BT kext mod that puts in the matching vendor and product for T420 - i changed product 8532 to 8575 to match my BT card. /System/Library/Extensions/IOBluetoothFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/BroadcomBluetoothHostControllerUSBTransport.kext see Contents/Info.plist to force without cache boot, use the space bar on the disk selection to choose your mode. note: the npci flag is not a clover thing afaik. Terran Brown
Hi. I had the BT disabled in the bios and off on the switch but there was no difference. I managed to suss it out ( for any one else following) I didn't install the Bluetooth kext... My last problem is sound... I belive voodoo works with layout 12 but Ill have a look at that later this week. Thanks for answering back Terran
tluck
@Terran - cool. what was the trick? audio - what is the audio chip/codec on the T520? is it not the conexant - . if so the audio kext from the zip bundle should just work? edit - i just saw that 520 is conexant 20672 (vs 20590 on the T420). so yeah voodooHDA or it may be very simple to just patch the binary for that codec id. Adrenalation
@tluck So I'm up and running. I remember reading somewhere in the thread that there was a way to override the DSDT located in ESP/EFI/Clover/ACPI/patched/..... ..... something to do with config.nodsdt.plist. Would the included DSDT in the given directory be based on your system? I'd like to create a DSDT based off of my system with current patches. Is this possible? Already ran SSDT generator. System works like a champ.
Sheep_Reaper
@adrenalation Catch up with some of the latest pages in the thread, like the last 4-6. Tluck made changes to his pack so that we'd only need to use the one config.
tluck
@adrenalation. there are essentially 2 config files - config.1600x900.plist is expected to use the pre-compiled DSDT and config.nodsdt.plist (for other testing or dsdt development etc). the config.nodsdt.plist (which is almost identical to config.1600x900.plist) that one can use if one wishes to start from the BIOS DSDT vs the pre-modified DSDT. And sheep_reaper is correct of course, I simplified the clover configuration so that you don't need to mess with OEM names etc. with a single config.plist for installing (USB) and on the HD. the pre-modified/customized DSDT.aml (and readable source .dsl ) is /EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/patched (after you rename the ACPI.MxY folder to match your LCD). Clover reads this DSDT.aml and then may still do a few extra tweaks on the fly to fix up other items. So essentially clover starts with a pre-modified dsdt and patches it according to the settings in the config.plist DSDT less - (not really) it just means startup clover with BIOS original DSDT. to use: rename ACPI to ACPI.NU (to avoid using the pre-mod DSDT) rename config.nodsdt.plist to config.plist (rename the other working one for now) reboot - clover will patch up the DSDT on the fly. however the battery will not work as it can't fully patch to include some of the highly custom tweaks added in the pre-modified DSDT. Adrenalation
Great explanation on that one. ^^ Sound output does not work from the right headphone output port. Any ideas?
Adrenalation
@adrenalation - make sure you pick the right output device port. there will be 2 outputs both named headphones (if you plug something in the side ) the 2nd one is for the docking station. and the other is the side of the laptop- so pick that one (that one changes from Internal speaker) No no. I really mean it ! There is only one entry for headphones, but that one yields no sound output through my laptop headphone output. Here's a screen. Only one entry, doesn't work......weird.
tluck
@Adrenalation - Your picture looks exactly like on mine - go figure! the Output named Internal Speakers will auto-detect a headphone when put into the side port. select "internal speakers" and then plug in a headphone. and then look as this again. put the plug in and out a few times to see it switch names. the Output named Headphones is the output port on a Dock (when Docked) - so you can use this if you have docking station. i plug my speakers in this. Adrenalation
Ok so just a couple hindrances I'm still dealing with; no audio out the right port (again, I did what I could; not autodetecting), and I finally tried to install windows after my OS X installation, and windows disk setup before installation claims that my disk is MBR format, when it actually is GPT....... UEFI installations can only be installed to GPT disks. Again, can anyone confirm i'll have to format my main disk again with Windows First, and THEN install OS X? Here's a screen to show what my partition setup looks like

I just checked, and I had to plug/unplug headphones twice for it to work, but then Internal Speakers changes to Headphones (and then I have TWO Headphones entries, but only the one that changed makes sound).
