vbetts
Aside from dates, this has been what my x3 setup has been with 10.6.7. Never went up to 10.6.8, would also give me massive kernel panics. Specs are listed below Running on Iatkos with legacy 10.6.7 kernel. Older than more recent versions, but this one has never failed me! Really only thing I has set is no DSDT, but thankfully I didn't have anything that depended on one. Monday though I'll be getting my new rig I want to test Mavericks out on, before I throw Windows on it. tobias-OSX
I have the same CPU but I get no luck doing what you've said my chipset is the AMD 970 if that helps. Hi ... I am new to this forum, and also have the same CPU... "AMD FX 8350 Eight Core CPU (turbo 4.2Ghz)" ... I also have an ASUS motherboard "Asus M5A78L-M USB3", and I am concerned about my future with this configuration. It seems there are problems with running a modern OSX on a PC with AMD Processors. I recently purchased my PC, and have not tried to run OSX on it - yet! ... I am now wondering whether it might not be a bad idea to exchange my processors for Intel. I would like to be able to set up the OSX and then use my machine as a Mac without ongoing problems (as I have minimal hardware knowledge)... what I really need to know right now, is "Is this an unrealistic dream?" ... Any help would be greatly appreciated

tobias-OSX
graphics card PCIE ? Hi, looking up the spec of my motherboard (which has the built-in / integrated graphics card), here : https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A78LMUSB3/#specifications the Expansion slots are described as follows: 1 x PCIe x16 1 x PCIe x1 2 x PCI However I have recently read on another forum about Hackintoshes, that my ASUS motherboard will only support AMD processors, and not Intel... so, if this is correct, I assume that I will have to change both my Processors and my Motherboard. tobias-OSX
Why not just install OS X on your AMD? That's the entire purpose of this thread and AMD development forum. I would like to... but I am being advised against it. I would like to be able to use the hardware I've got, but I have no idea if - by choosing this path, I'll be forever trying to run OSX while constantly dealing with bugs and fixes. I appreciate that I'll have to go thru a potentially complicated process to set up OSX, but once I've got it set up - I just want it to work smoothly. Some people posting here seem to describe problems with the OSX functionality. Thanks

This is the best way buy yourself an external SATA HDD, thus remains your NTFS HDD for Windows clean. 2, Be sure to look if you can find someone in your circle of acquaintances who has an original MAc or a Hackintosh. then you can create and configure within an hour an USB flash drive for your Hackintosh. 3. you do not have to worry about at the moment the internal graphics card, 4. No, you should not to do. Then you lose all data. there are fundamentally different formats. OSX = HFS+ and Windows = NTFS. As I described above, it is better you organize yourself an external SATA HDD 5. you can check your hardware compatibility the SystemInfo app for Windows then uploade the Photo here Edited December 23, 2013 by spakk
tobias-OSX
Thank you. I will try an external SATA. I think I might be able to get one out of an old Mac G5. I assume that I would use this as an external drive... Do I use the BIOS load up options (when the computer starts) - to install OSX onto this external drive? ... is this how it starts ... @SinetekYes of course, I'll thank anyone who helps me - with pleasure
