Hi guys,

i'm not able to inject a custom EDID using clover.

I've tried several methods but when i check IODisplayEDID in IOREG the EDID is always equal to the original one.

I know Clover has a function to inject EDID but even if i'm using it it's like is not working.

Could someone point me in the right direction ?

Note : I'm also using Lilu + Whatevergreen

Why cant I see the Shell tool anymore? I checked my Scan settings Entries and Tools are active but I cant see the Shell tool. I also make this Auto but I still cant see. Is this a bug or should I use different settings or key combination on the boot area?

No issue here with Legacy / UEFI, Shell is well detected. Plz make sure that your Theme contains: ..\icons\tool_shell.png

I am really don't get it why I am not seeing this tool. I checked my custom them which has tool_shell.png even I removed the custom theme and used EmbeddedThemeType but nothing changed. Here are my settings under the GUI section;

Re-check your config.plist using PlistEdit or any XML Editor apps, not Clover Configurator. Go to GUI section.

I did but nothing changed. I made No with PlistEdit and restart then make Yes and restart but nothing change. It is weird. Thanks, @Badruzeus Maybe I must re-create new config.plist with PlistEdit!

I need help about Timezone.

 

My Windows show UTC +3 but if windows watch shows 4 pm after restart BIOS watch shows 1 pm.  I tried -3 on timezone it gives me dark theme on daylight. I tried just 3 it gives me a light theme but it didn't change the dark at night. Which timezone I must use? I am so confused.

This probably belongs in the themes topic or general topic but have you tried no timezone? What does your boot log say your time is? Are you sure your timezone is not set in firmware but it shows UTC?

Boot.log time is GMT. Local time is +3 now (18:26)

There is a bug, whoever wrote this did not read the specification of TimeZone member of EFI_TIME, it has valid values of -1440 to 1440, and 2047. Also timezones don't go 0 to 24, they go -24 hours to +24 hours but that member field is in minutes, not hours:

I get what you're saying but I support a lot of people in a thread and it really is best for us.  Not everybody has your level of proficiency.  I also really like the graphical interface, after all, isn't it what Macs are all about?  :-)

 

I also really like the serial number tools.

We do NOT develop clover configurator, so saying anything about it here is off topic. If you can't learn XML, you should not be doing this... If you don't want to edit it directly you can use PLIST editor from Xcode, to just add/edit key(s) and dictionary(ies)/value(s).

I understand that and I am perfectly comfortable editing plists.  In fact, the Nuvoton NCT6798D & NCT679BD sensors that I added to the VirtualSMC package was merged this morning.  Don't get me wrong, it can't even be called programming but my point is that I have no issues with editing a .plist, I was merely talking saying GUI tools are nice.

 

I was in no way trying to upset or offend you.

I'm certainly not upset or offended, was merely trying to say that this is the wrong place to get changes made to clover configurator. And if you needed to make changes that aren't in clover configurator yet, you need to edit the configuration directly. Also, clover configurator causes problems as many keys have one behavior if the key is not specified and different behavior if it is specified with a value. In other words, even boolean values have a third option, not being present and it changes behavior, but clover configurator uses only two state checkboxes, not three.

Why not work together with the guy who made Clover Configurator and help him make it better?

 

We seem to be really good at pointing out flaws rather than coming up with solutions.

 

I'm sorry if this came out rude. But if the amount of people asking for help with Clover Configurator is no indication of how much people want such a tool, then I don't know what is.

 

I get it that this is not the place to ask for help regarding 3rd party tools. But considering there is no official tool for that, made by the same people who made Clover itself, people who obviously know everything about it, then what choices do regular people have?

 

Editing the plist manually (in Sublime, for example) is definitely doable, but I wouldn't call that user-friendly. Not to mention, in case you want to add something, you need to know what that is (which is not obvious), where and how to add it. So having all the possible options laid out nicely in the UI is definitely a plus. And, sorry to say this but Clover Configurator did a better job of keeping up with the changes in Clover itself than Clover Wiki page. So, unless you follow up with everything that's changing in Clover, you won't know what options do you have. And please don't suggest reading through the entire Clover Changes thread just to see that. Nobody's got time for that.

 

PlistEdit Pro is another good option to edit plists. But it also doesn't give you options on what you can add. It only reads what's already saved on the plist. So..again, you need to know what you're looking for, and add it correctly. Which most people won't know. Same as Xcode. Which, if you're not developing anything (as a regular user), you don't need it. Not to mention it's taking a lot of space and it's a pain in the rear to remove. So I wouldn't recommend this just for editing plists.

 

What I'm trying to say (and I see this with a lot of developers) is that what's very comfortable for you to use (cause you're used to it, you probably do this every day, and you have plenty of experience with it) isn't the same for other people. I would say most people. If you need an engineering degree to use a tool, then not many people will. Simply because most people are not engineers. That's all I'm saying.

Can't change something that the developer doesn't want to have collaborators or be part of the project. Can get in contact with him and let him know, but really I'm sick of dealing with it, so I don't understand why it's our responsibility to do it when users can easily go to get support for that where it is. Where ever that is, no idea, but I don't see it as our problem in the least anymore. Also, this software is for advanced users/developers, if you can't figure out all of the things you said were "easy for us," then you SHOULD NOT BE USING CLOVER. It can damage your hardware if you incorrectly set stuff, it may even be possible to brick your motherboard, depending on some circumstances. Also, I know slice has been researching this stuff for probably ~fifteen years, I've been doing it for almost ten. I've seen plenty of people around that whole time and still have not learned the most basic of ways that clover operates. I do this to create an educational opportunity, not so people can get macOS for free. And I'm sorry but I think that you saying you can't read a thread is ridiculous. Search for what you are looking for then, how do you think we know this stuff? We read and research. PLISTs are XML files, literally the easiest file format that exists, if you can't figure out an XML file, oh boy.... As for the wiki, its very hard to code and administrate, then update the wiki, especially since I (we all) have limited time. I also have to go to github and change my settings every time I try to log in to edit the wiki. I have asked for helpers but no one seems to want to help keep it up to date. So.... there is the changes topic, which we hoped would give others the information needed to update the wiki. Truthfully, I wish that people would maybe try to research and contribute instead of complaining about everything, when basically three people are trying to keep up with a task set for a large team of people. There are a few who do but most people just complain and offer absolutely no evidence or solutions. We've had this conversation multiple times, we physically cannot do all of these things, so they get prioritized, and the wiki is the lowest priority because, as I said, you should be learning from this.
