Hello World.

I need your help. I have been trying to boot of Clover for the past week with no success. I Installed the pkg to a usb stick. Had to change theme in the config file, otherwise would get a blank screen. I loaded the FS drivers into the UEFI64 directory. I have selected UEFI in the installer, under customization.

When I try and select the 10.8 partition it says UUID is = large number and then freezes.

What am I doing wrong ?

Thanks in advance,

Liquid ice

Sorry sir, but you are wrong.

You always need fakesmc to boot any OSX, whether its the OS or the Installer. FAKESMC emulates the SMC chip on real macs, without it the os wont boot.

please correct me if I am wrong.

Thank you.

You have been corrected your wrong. :)

Yesterday I had a nightmare with my board, while testing sleep/wake, etc... my z77x-ud5h got to a state where I couldn't boot from any disk anymore, couldn't enter bios setup. Cmos reset didn't help.

I was like... WTF ?!

After a lot of headache, I removed the graphics card (560ti) and finally the system booted and I could enter bios again.

I took the opportunity to flash my bios, and all seemed to be working.

Then I put the graphics card again, and all the problems came back. Only post screen, can't get to bios setup, can't boot from any disk, etc

I thought... maybe the graphics card is damaged. Ok, no problem, lets use the onboard one. And once again, problems. My board DVI only outputs 1920x1200 and my LCD is 2560x1440 and I only got image on my second monitor.

I was getting really mad and desperate with the situation and started unplugging things, to make sure if it was being caused by something else, like some usb device, etc

After some hours I solved the problem, it was caused by one or both my ssd´s. I disconnected them and finally I could boot my system, enter bios settings, etc with my 560ti.

Plugged in again both my ssd´s and the problem came back, no boot anymore, no enter bios settings anymore... :wallbash:

Then, I switched the ssd cables, ssd1 to port of ssd2 and vice versa and voila !!! :thumbsup_anim:

All started working fine again

What the hell happened here ?

What the hell happened here ?

I had a similar situation once....

And incredibly, the culprit apparently was also a HDD, but later I discovered that because of a power surge,

most components had entered into a form of "Static freezing"....

Remove all components and plug them back was the only solution also...

Can someone help me make a stock mountain lion usb installer?

Every time I restore the Installer ESD.dmg to a USB flash drive and try to boot the disk using Clover UEFI I get stuck at a whitish gray screen with a spinning beach ball.

I've read the Install OS X in /EFI/doc but its not very clear.

And remover the kernalcache like the guide days does nothing to fix the problem.

My goal is to make a Stock ML installer that creates the recovery partition from the first install. If I can get it working.. I'll be sure to type up a nice guid for us Clover users.

Any ideas? The white screen is not from my GPU I've tried both gtx670 and hd4000.

Thanks

-mrengles

I would second this I have exactly the same issue while trying to boot Clover and InstallESD.dmg - or indeed boot Clover from an install OSX partition.

Kynnder over at OSx86 has been more than helpful, but it refuses to work here, tried many different options, but no go...

:wallbash:

Warning: don't do this upgrade, you will find when you restart the bios reset

I agree, if you try to install it on a hack, it will write to the EFI partition on the disk you are booted from - I do not have Clover in that partition otherwise it might have been overwritten....!!!

For the 6780 you need graphics injector=Yes and that's it. Clover will do the rest for that card.

Why don't you post your conf.plist so we can help.

I have a problem so I split the disk

100 Mb Fat32 UEFI

50GB MacOSX

50GB Win7

300Gb Storage

My problem is not being able to make bootable the partition UEFI-Fat32 where I installed Clover

So, you were not installing in EFI partition. Then, just flag your FAT32 UEFI partition as active.

How can I reset PRAM/NVRAM in Clover?

You will need to type these two commands in Terminal to clear the NVRAM. Then restart your computer (Mac), keep in mind you will also need to redo some of your your settings in System Preferences after the restart, like your computer name, re-enable Find My Mac, and a good idea to look at the Guest account options to make sure they have not changed.

sudo rm /nvram.plist

sudo nvram -c

If you want to see the contents of your NVRAM you can use this command on a real Mac or a Hackintosh with Clover.

nvram -p

Good Luck hope this helps!

-Mrengles

PS. This would probably be a good thing to add to the Q & A post. :wink2:

Installed successfully. Thanks! :)

I found out that with Clover r883, I don't need to delete <key>Kernel Cache</key> in com.apple.Boot.plist or put S/L/E in the root folder.

Everything just works pretty great as if it's a real mac!

So what are you doing just restore the Installer ESD.dmg to a USB Flash Drive, boot from it, and install Mountain Lion? Are you injecting any kexts, or booting without kernelcache?

Thanks!

Hello,

I've found what's wrong.

If you try to build from scratch that's my case, it does'nt work because Lvers.txt does not exist the first time.

I do that:

if [ "$1" == "edk2" ]; then

if [ "$access" == "co" ] || [ "${cloverUpdate}" == "Yes" ];then

getREVISIONSEDK2

if [ -f "${edk2DIR}"/Svers.txt ]; then

#edk2Local=`cat "${edk2DIR}"/Lvers.txt`

edk2Local=0

if [ "${checksvnRevision}" == "${edk2Local}" ]; then

update="No"

return

fi

Should check if Lvers.txt exist, if not create with 0 revision inside.

or this

if [ -f "${edk2DIR}"/Svers.txt ]; then

if [ -f "${edk2DIR}"/Lvers.txt ]; then

edk2Local=`cat "${edk2DIR}"/Lvers.txt`

else

edk2Local=0

fi

if [ "${checksvnRevision}" == "${edk2Local}" ]; then

update="No"

return

Well, you have MBR formatted disk (not GPT). But this is not a problem, unless you are trying to do native UEFI boot - you can only do standard BIOS Clover boot (we call it CloverEFI) with MBR disk.

Your UEFI (fat32) partition is not bootable because you did not install any master boot (boot0) and partition boot (boot1*) code to this disk. I guess the easiest way to do that is to use Clover installer and select "BIOS MBR boot0hfs (HFS+Fat32)". Choose your UEFI partition as target.

Anyone notice problems with conflicting config files, when clover boots from cd or usb, it uses the config files from the installed local drive? This is also happening with 897.

When real refit is installed on the internal drive on a macbook pro, clover boots from a CD version on a macbookpro and themes mixup. This was only tested with an older version. Right now I don't have direct acces to the real Macs. But in near future I can test real MacPro 1.1 /2.1 again, the 2.1 Macpro with a hd5700 ended with a blackscreen and cursor on a older version of Clover CD, but with high resolution 1600x1200.

Offtopic: I finally discovered that I had to pass to Questionaries/Quizes from this forum to reply to this topic ;-)

Welcome to the forum vmacpro. =)

Haven't had this issue at all. What do you mean by "real refit installed" sorry if this is a dumb overlooked question.

I hope you get some help. The best thing you can do for yourself is read this entire thread from start to finish. and study the first twenty something posts by the Developers. Please don't take that the wrong way. I'm not trying to be rude or snub in any way. I learned allot about Clover by doing that myself. There is so much "good" information in this thread, about installing, troubleshooting, booting, you name name it.

Good luck with Clover, I'm sure your learn to love it too. Its the best Mac bootloader available!

Yes my goal and start directly with UEFI.

Tomorrow night I try to follow this installation

BIOS MBR boot0hfs (HFS+Fat32)

is a problem that my disk sectors are 4096 B ?

On a real Mac, I installed refit from http://refit.sourceforge.net/ and when I boot clover from CD on a Mac where on the internal disk refit was installed it mixes up the looks of cloverCD as its booting.

This mix up of config/themes also happens on pc's with just clover local internal disk install while booting from the clover CD version. I think I cannot be more clear on this to explain it?

Why don't you try removing the "real refit install" on all the other locations and just use Clover?
