We'll have to wait for Nvidia to release new web drivers to fix OpenCL (if they address it). Mostly they introduce at a 10.x.2 update.

Haswell CPU PM seems to be a problem for everyone. At least I have state 8, but it should have much more states.

Again, hopefully 10.9.2 will address GPU PM as well (it's a problem in native Macs too).

Frankly I am very happy with the MacPro6,1/10.9.2 pstates, I see 8 as well but they are evenly balanced following Pikes advice which is a first for me. Graphics still likely an issue as is FakeSMC with missing keys. We have to appreciate that 10.9.2 is beta and hopefully they will release an update when they eventually return to work following the Xmas/NY holidays...

Jan  5 12:56:43 MacPro kernel[0]: AICPUPMI: CPU P-States [ 8 17 34 36 39 42 43 45 ]

EDIT... The real test is the power consumption which using 10.9.2 averages 62W over a 24 hour period compared to over 70W with 10.9.1. One also has to bear in mind that pstates were designed to conserve battery life, and to see 8 is pretty good considering a real iMac only has three period.

EDIT2. Pike's latest AppleIntelCPUPowerManagementInfo.kext gives a different and I would think rather crazy output, the original above is what HW Monitors shows me as working.  If you want more pstates try his latest.

Me I prefer the original one..

@tonydickinson thanks i will update right now i need help configure clover for evga sr-2 motherboard

Ahh you mean the dual processor one.

EVGA Classified SR-2 - DUAL LGA 1366 Intel 5520 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HPTX Motherboard (270-WS-W555-A2)

That is a very special MB and perhaps there are those out there who can help.

To be truthful you might want a specialist website, if you have no luck here, try http://rampagedev.wordpress.com , as he specialises in X79 and uses Chameleon but he will likely be able to suggest a source of information for you.

@tonydickson

i asked him for help and he wanted to charge me $75 and money is tight at the moment. is there any other sources, i can get help from ?

That IS a lot, do not pay one cent... as it is against the spirit of this hobby. Fine if like some who are too busy to learn and just want a cheap mac at a price, but paying him does not guarantee success anyway...

I have had no experience of a dual processor mother board and personally do not know of anybody with one, and could not begin to help you. I am only happy when I can verify myself what I am doing.

Let's hope there is somebody out there who can help you more now that your request is clearer.

Good luck...

EDIT.... Have you seen this thread, its your motherboard.

Hello,

Ive a (hopefully) short question:

I installed Mavericks on my acer V7-582PG Notebook (Intel 4500u with HD 4400). I was able to boot with full QE/CI with Enoch bootloader using the IntelAzulFb=3 Bootflag (0A160000), nie image trying to boot with Clover since ICE installed W8.1 and Linux on this Notebook and i dont want to Switch UEFI to Legacy in Bios everytime.

Ive tried to add various settings in config.plist, but everytime i boot the Ladung indicator keeps spinning.

Perhabs somebody could tell me working Graphicssetings for config.plist to get 4400 HD working with clover

Hi,please tell me your hd4400's device id,maybe I can help you with it.

Or maybe only pay when there is some actual success ... my own desparation has grown to such levels that I am thinking very hard to offer just some kind of reward now to anyone who actually gets this to work ...

And for me it is not just a hobby, I built this machine to actually do my work. Yeah you might call this a big mistake - and you may be right at that - but now it is just the way it is. I seemed to underestimate the slew of problems you can have, despite taking a lot of time to choose my components. But not everybody who cannot get his stuff to run is an idiot or too lazy. I hope that I am neither - invested literally hundreds of hours with that hackintosh stuff - but there is a point where it is VERY hard to get any further without expert help.

So I am now really worried if 10.9.2 really brings the long awaited LGA2011 / Ivy-E PM compability, as I haven't heard of a single success story so far. On the other hand, the mMP just uses that same socket, and also in fact runs on the X79/C60x chipset (C602J as I recall). And my Ivy-E CPU should be almost identical to the XEON E5 v2 the nMP uses. Hmm, so why?

Anybody out there who has actually got working CPU PM with Ivy-E, with any bootloader?

@Bruxo, I think you are confused, as I said you NEED to use ACPIplatform for a sandy bridge, I have the exact same cpu as you, you need to create the proper p state data in one of the imac smbioses.

@frankiee, You may want to try cpu type 0x0501.

@Fab1Man, @frankiee, You both probably need to create valid p state information on top of a valid ssdt otherwise you will only get lowest highest and turbo multipliers.

@one9092002, don't pay him anything, that's ridiculous. Please explain more your issues and you will get help here. Also he tends to exaggerate problems that he is causing by misconfiguring or not knowing how something works as bugs......

@frankiee, You may want to try cpu type 0x0501.

That changed the reading in "about this mac" from "XEON E5" (using 0x0A01) to just "XEON", but seemed not to do anything besides that.

But how? That's why I tried with the ssdtPRGen.sh script. And at least it does something, bc then the line:

kernel[0]: WARNING: IOPlatformPluginUtil : getCPUIDInfo: this is an unknown CPU model 0x3e

disappears from the log. Instead I get:

kernel[0]: IOPPF: AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement mode

So unfortunately no xcpm, which is needed for proper PM if I understand correctly.

And still - with or without SSDT - I get:

kernel[0]: Unknown CPU: family = 0x6, model = 0x3e, stepping = 0x4

05-01-14 19:18:32,000 kernel[0]: IOPPF: XCPM mode

But it's like what apianti says, I only get 8 the lowest and 35 and up. Isn't this how it works? Maybe OS X Mavericks can only use idle, nominal and turbo, so 8, 35, and all turbo states.

At least you are one step further! I'd love to see XCPM just only enabled. But you have a different CPU, right?

OS X should be able to use more states. Looks like getting this all to work is much more complicated than most thought.

How do I restore backlight from NVRAM with Clover? I tried this guide but there was no rc.shutdown.local on etc folder, on the guide it says Clover does this step automatically. I then added the plist file into LaunchDaemons folder but I don't think that it quite worked. I haven't yet installed Clover on HDD so I boot from USB stick. I have EmuVariableUefi-64.efi, and I use Clover UEFI boot. I wonder what i'm doing wrong?

Ok then you probably want to use 0x0a01, or maybe just try all sorts of combinations.... There are some more recent changes for clover, you may benefit from newest but not sure. What mac model are you using? And for p states you need to actually add p state information to the smbios data for the board product you are using. You may have more success with the macbookpro smbios, although it may not work correctly if you're not on portable...

I mean you need to start trying on your own and when you either can't get any further or run into issues with performance/stability come back and explain your issue. Otherwise you won't receive any help, as no one is going to set it up for you, unless you pay them

With the MacBook Pro PM in X86PlatformPlugin I get:

Do you have a haswell, or an ivy bridge-e as well?

You need to install clover to a os x volume in order to get the /etc/ scripts. Also you need to make sure they are selected in installer.

hi all, I'm trying to boot an old 10.5.8 hd from a G5, but does not complete the boot, stops-v showing that it can not mount other hard drives. Anyone have any idea about this?

G5?????

Clover is not intended for PowerPC computers. Are you sure that you are asking in the right thread, in the right forum? I think you'll be better to ask Apple about your problems.

Hi Slice! How are you? Happy new year!

maybe this will clarify a bit what I said:

Re: Will a hard drive with Leopard for intel run on a ppc powermac?

Dual Boot Can one Leopard hard disk boot both PowerPC and Intel based Macs? We have successfully booted both a Power Mac G5/1.8 uniprocessor system and a 15" MacBook Pro LED Display model from one Leopard hard drive. Leopard finally delivered the universal, cross-platform boot capability we've been craving.

One previous problem was that we needed separate versions of Tiger for Intel and PowerPC Macs. Leopard resolved this issue.

The second problem was that Intel and PowerPC Macs needed the hard disk formatted in contrary ways. Intel Macs insisted on configuring boot drives (via Disk Utility) for "GPT" (GUID Partition Table), but virtually all PowerPC Macs have to boot off hard drives formatted for APM ("Apple Partition Map") instead. It's a whole-drive option - all partitions ("volumes") on the hard drive share the same partition table.

We can now boot both PowerPC and Intel Macs from one, universal Leopard system installed on an APM-formatted hard drive. On the downside, Intel Macs may have problems updating firmware or running Boot Camp from an APM hard drive, so GPT is still the preferred option for Intel Macs. Here's Leopard's Disk Utility partitioning dialog:

apm.png

Intel Macs refuse to install Leopard on an APM disk, so, if you want to do this, you have two choices: Install Leopard using a PowerPC-based Mac, or clone the Leopard installation from a GPT disk to an APM disk (e.g. using SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner).

(For more background on this issue (which Apple has never documented well), see our Macs on Intel Boot Issues report, plus Jonathan 'Wolf' Rentzsch's Intel-based Mac Boot Incompatibility and Rich Trouton's experience Booting an Intel Mac from an APM-partitioned disk. Apple has some related developer documentation: Secrets of the GPT and Mac OS X Boot Process.)

OK, so I started from scratch again, by reinstalling my test drive, and then going straight to 10.9.2b and installed latest clover. To further isolate things, I shut off almost any device in BIOS, in fact the only device still connected - apart from GPU - was the X79 USB Controller #1 (the working one), and attached to it was a keyboard, a mouse and the external USB drive with my install. So Audio, Bluetooth, SATA, Ethernet, USB3 - all off. The only kext used was latest FakeSMC (and Ethernet later on). Only kernelflag was -npci=0x200. Only UEFI driver was AptioFix. No RC scripts. SMBIOS used was MacPro 6,1. Think that was as minimal as I could get.

1)

Booted with standard config - no dice. When trying to sleep - as with my main config - sleep state was never entered. Monitor went black, but rest kept running. No blinking power light. Does not wake up, so must use reset to restart the computer.

2)

Next, I completely switched off all patches clover made with it's default config. Especially no ACPI patch and no dropped SSDT tables. That brought me what I call the "almost there mode". Now, sleep does seem to work, ie shuts down with a blinking power light. But, problems arise when waking up. Does wake up when pressing a key on the keyboard, but have to press twice to actually see a picture again. But when waking up using the power button, Monitor does fire up without needing to press anything twice.

But then, I am soon in "beachball mode". It almost seems that every (running) App I try to use does hang one by one as soon as I try to do anything that accesses the disk. Ie. when for example I had the "About this mac" panel open before I went to sleep and then closed it, I can reopen it after waking up. If I did that not, it does not open and "beachballs". Of course can not open any App and cannot save anything anymore. Everything just beachballs the respective App.

3)

Next, I reactivated every device to see if that does change something. No.

4)

Next, I reactivated the 2 patches that bring back my USB ports. FIX_HPET and FIX_IPIC. Now, sleep behavior changed for worse! It seems like the machine completely shuts down now (no blinking power light). But still can be woken up by USB. But then, in contrast to before the machine does not come up again, but shuts down after a few seconds, and wakes up again. Shuts down, and rinse and repeat (until forever it seems). Only way to get out of there is pressing the power button for a longer time!

So in essence, it seems that I have three different sleep bugs, depending on what I set with clover. Also, does not seem to be dependant on any attached controllers / devices. Also doubt now it is CPU bound. And worse of all, the very patch that "fixes" my USB ports actually makes sleep behavior going from "almost there" to "totally wrecked".

So, what now? Maybe this detailed description helps? Any ideas, anyone?

You are mistaken!
I just demonstrate the correct use of kext X86Plat ... CPU Haswell and Ivy!
Yes I have Sandy CPU and use iMac as setting!
But that does not stop me from building a Hack that meets my dreams;
Be iMac or MacPro, the interesting and functional ACPI is correct!
ACPI_SMC_Platform be activated just because you have one of the Resources that matches my CPU;
If I drive iMac12, 2 or MacMini5, 2 Resources X86Platform data, I will have the same result but with a respectful cosmetics!
The important thing in these tests is noteworthy that the change in performance to achieve AGPM in several states!

Understand I'm not the owner of reason, just doing testing and open to suggestions from the wise of this forum!
