Clover r5146 with 10th Gen Intel Core CPUs

Issue:

  1. Clover r5146 (nightly) + Ventura = boot failure
  2. Clover r5137 + Ventura = success

Preparations:

  • Replace newer files by older files: CLOVERX64.efi and OpenRuntime.efi
  • Disable the following keys not supported by r5137:
    • /Quirks/ResizeAppleGpuBars
    • /RtVariables/HWTarget
    • /SMBIOS/ExtendedFirmwareFeatures
    • /SMBIOS/ExtendedFirmwareFeaturesMask

Tests

  • Using latest CLOVERX64.efi with old OpenRuntime.efi = Error: wrong OpenRuntime Version
  • Using old Clover with latest OpenRuntime.efi = No Boot, System stays in GUI

Conclusions

  • Since I can boot Catalina to Ventura in OpenCore without issues, I think OpenRuntime is not the cause of the issue
  • In think between r5137 and r5146 something changed that breaks Intel 10th gen in Ventura.

Thanks to @chris1111 for finding this and thanks to @Streets for confirming

@Streets That's good news. It reduces the range of error finding from 10 to 4 releases.

r5142 + Ventura = fail in my test

I’m upgrading Monterey to Ventura and it failed. But I have new observation. It was smbios iMacPro1,1. When I switched to iMac17,1  the installation finished successfully!

Tell me please who has a success what smbios have you used?

Which version introduced the switch to gcc12? Maybe 10th gen not booting with r5146 and previous versions after 5137 is reölated to that somehow.

For testing I tried booting Ventura on my Desktop with Clover r5146 as iMac19,1 and a fake CPUID for Coffee Lake (0x0906EA)… doesn't work either.
