@Jief_Machak I tried to provide a debug.log from a working r5124 but it is zero bytes.

I can't recall how to compile specific versions but will try and find out and work back until one works.

I do know that with this version to boot Big Sur I do not choose Preboot option from the Clover menu.

Totally unreadable ! What do you want me to do with that ? Re-take it, please.

I understand that debug.log. Will it save only if it can boot well up to the GUI page? There will be 2 boot files. The top will boot completely. The lower one will freeze as the clip image.

debug.log CloverX64-2020-10-21-17-19-01-1803805-dirty-jief.efi Boot and record well.

CloverX64-2020-10-21-17-52-39-1803805-dirty-jief.efi This one does not boot to the GUI page.

video This is an example to make it clear that The main drive is hidden. Only preboot drivers left

Are you sure you're booting from Preboot and not Big Sur main partition?

In my screenshots, I use Preboot 10.16 to boot Big Sur. If I choose macOS Big Sur I also have a KP and instant reboot.

Are you using the latest clover master? One that removes the Big Sur main partition from clover GUI? Even on my intel laptop adding a custom entry for the preboot volume results getting stuck at STARTBS.
No other changes made just a custom entry and if I disable that entry I can boot.

I had been successful using v5124 to boot to Catalina and BS Beta 10.  Then, I tried v5125 and it did not work.  As soon as I selected it, I got a black screen and no activity.  I reverted to v5124 and now it also does not work.  When I boot to Catalina or BS, it hangs at pretty much the same place.  Here's a screenshot:

Any ideas what might be causing this?  I am reluctant to start tinkering with my config.plist since it worked previously with v5124.  I have manually installed/checked that the efi files for Boot and Clover are from v5124.  I have not changed any kexts.

Sounds silly but have you tried cleaning NVRAM?

Don't know what happened. Matgen84 also has a problem.

@everyone : let's try this one CloverX64-2020-10-21-16-09-44-982a43f-dirty-jief.zip

With this one

- you get a better name for your preboot partitions

- main, preboot and recovery partition are grouped together.

If it seems ok, I'll commit it. Let me know.

Does this one have the matchos commit in it? Just so I know if I can test on AMD or not.

EDIT: Boots fine on my Intel laptop.

SavageAUS-CloverX64-2020-10-21-16-09-44-982a43f-dirty-jief.efi-debug.log

But

If i enable my custom entry even with the above .efi i get stuck at START:BS

That seems to be the debug.log for when it's not working ? If so, please rename it clearly before sending. Please understand that I have zillion of debug.log.

Ok, for this one.

Please confirm to me that when you switch from 5124 to 5125 (and back) you did it in the exact same CLOVER folder. That's means the exact same config.plist, kexts, drivers, ACPI ?

If confirmed, send the debuglog 5124 (booted from that same folder than the 5125, you got it now, right ?)

Yes, booting from exactly the same Clover folder, the only thing modified is the CLOVERX64.efi

Sending debug.logs:
debug_v5124_git_success_acer.log

debug_v5125_git_failed_acer.log

Did you create and fill with proper values the Quirks section in config.plist ?

@everyone to avoid having main BS  partition in Clover menu, use this (or compile last commit) : CloverX64-RELEASE_GCC53-2020-10-20-22-44-34-d17d02b-dirty-jief.zip

I also tried this, the bootloader simply won't start, hence no debug.log

you can go into your account settings -> signature and add details in the box.

Ok, I was searching in profile instead of settings.

@kushwavez Found something that prevents some kext to be injected. Try CloverX64-2020-10-22-12-37-13-1803805-dirty-jief.zip. Send debug.log from the exact same configuration as debug_v5124_git_success_acer.log if it's not working.

i add that the final r5124.pgk on release don t allow boot on my config, but i have kept and made a boot.

tha last version for me  is r5125.pkg, but not the last on master:

i get sounds correctly.

So  doesn't know why

for me this is the last version to boot properly, after i lost sounds pref panel

0:100  0:000  Build id: Clover build id: 20201016100620-aee426f-5125-dirty

i all time add openrutime.efi and set into UEFI. So all integration is more complex with OC (compile and install into folder properly)

i think, it will be more difficult to retrieve a version that before run better... or test each modification from r5123 to  r5125)

I compiled CLOVERX64_5125_18038055a.efi
I took the config sample with which I created the setting again for the X570 AMD
I duplicated the config
in one I inserted the 38 kernelToPatch leaving the MatchOS field empty and I manage to start big sur beta 10
in the other config I inserted the same 38 KernelToPatch defining the MatchOS and with this I can not start big sur beta 10

here are the debug logs if they can help developers

BS_MatchOS_none_5125 (master, commit 18038055a)OK_debug.log

BS_MatcOS_YES_5125 (master, commit 18038055a)NOK_debug.log

Booting fine here on Intel laptop.

Still looking for correct settings for custom entries for the Big Sur preboot volume, all my tests result in unbootable Big Sur (hence why i reinstalled Catalina for a backup) ;)

P.S if you need some assistance with your gitbook just add me to it :)

@maclinuxG4 One thing at a time. If you have a previous version working, we'll figure out what's going on.

@maclinuxG4 It would be great if you can setup a repo like I describe in : https://jief-machak.gitbook.io/cloverhelp/. (I've just wrote it, so you can help me improve it if needed).

git clone -b master --recurse-submodules https://github.com/CloverHackyColor/CloverBootloader.git

or select a diff commit  version git clone -b master --depth 1 --recurse-submodules https://github.com/CloverHackyColor/CloverBootloader.git  for the master --> commit -1

so it possible to get a specific version from git !!!!

i try with 11 for me and refactor selfOem. Created getConfigDir... methods. is when sounds is reduice to HDMI

repot form clover  all seem OK but not

0:100  0:000  Build id: Clover build id: 20201021172059-70988228

in system.log i have this

localhost kernel[0]: (kernel) error: couldn't allocate memory for function groups
localhost kernel[0]: (kernel) error: no PCM channels found

Before i havent this.

@slice and @jief plz look at this commit thanks a lot

@iCanaro In both debug.log you've sent me, the detected macOs version is 10.13.6. See in debug.log "GetOSVersion: 10.13.6 (17G14019)". So your patches don't load because MatchOS is 10.15.x,11.x.

In debug.log, you'll also find

 SetStartupDiskVolume:
   * Volume: 'Preboot'
   * LoaderPath: '\47AB2C83-D8B5-4E45-A896-9002D2B2C6D2\System\Library\CoreServices\boot.efi'

If you search for the UUID in debug.log, you'll find

- [24]: 'Preboot'
     AddLoaderEntry for Volume Name=Preboot
    Check if volume Is Hibernated:
    Check sleep image 'by signature':
    using default sleep image name = \private\var\vm\sleepimage
    sleepimage not found -> Not Found
    hibernated: no - sign
    IconName=hsierra,mac comma=7 size=11
    first=os_hsierra
    Loader entry created for 'PciRoot(0x0)\Pci(0x1,0x2)\Pci(0x0,0x0)\Pci(0xA,0x0)\Pci(0x0,0x0)\Sata(0x0,0xFFFF,0x0)\HD(15,GPT,11069583-E0CD-472B-8796-5B12BC3C9175,0xB73DA800,0x124F8000)\VenMedia(BE74FCF7-0B7C-49F3-9147-01F4042E6842,32234278EB4FEE49A906FC8461056BA2)\47AB2C83-D8B5-4E45-A896-9002D2B2C6D2\System\Library\CoreServices\boot.efi'

So everything looks like it's High Sierra.

Because you said it's working with MatchOS all, I assume you really booted BS and not HS (I'm sure you would notice the difference :lol: joke!).

So maybe you boot BS with an HS preboot ?

Or the is a big bug in GetOSVersion.

EDIT : what we can do is : mount your preboot partition, zip everything and send it to me.
