  • Can't boot Big Sur Beta 2 installed: stuck at IOUSBHostInterface followed by crossed out circle

Hi @Slice

Test commit cf5b919 from USB pendrive (Z390 Aorus Master config):

After select OS, the verbose mode don't start immediately, there is a long black screen.

  • Boot from USB Install macOS Beta 2 : Ok, "Choose Language" windows appears (don't test clean Big Sur clean). Very long to display the windows.
  • Can't boot Installed macOS Beta 2:  stuck at IOUSBHostInterface followed by crossed out circle
  • Can't boot MacOS Catalina 10.15.5: stuck at IOUSBHostInterface followed by Black screen

In the cases, booting sequence is very long

For me it now boots succesfully 10.15.6

I assume it should work on older macOS
performed new test to start high sierra on the Z97, but does exactly as in the previous attempt, crashes to boot and does not get to desktop

Thanks for this new version, but it did not work in my Z77 hackintosh.

However previous modified version of 5119 did work for me at both Catalina and Big Sur in both Intel-CPUs and AMD-FX6300/Ryzen hackintoshs.

I prefer this Clover bootloader than OpenCore 0.6.0 because it can fix CMOS Reset issue by wake-failure method at Big Sur and Catalina, while OpenCore still got this issue at Big Sur in my FX-6300 hackintosh.

Why do so many people persist in making a USB to boot installer for Big Sur?

Just make a small partition on the HDD you want to install it too

and use create installmedia command, loads faster off HDD particuarly

if you use SSD or nvme drive

Thats the way I have tested pre-releases previously and how I was going to test Big Sur but wasn't sure it would work, I assume now from you mentioning it that it does.

Other than using all the latest builds of Clover / Kexts etc is there anything different about the process with Big Sur?

Thats the way I have tested clean installation of macOS pre-releases previously on external or internal separated disk, and now test Clover commits for Big Sur while keeping an operational production hackintosh :)

There have been so many attempts that now I no longer know the way it was done. Final result i always verify and correct by PlistEdit.

But something is wrong. What?

Thank you and sorry my English.

Hello,everyone! Good,news!

I builded Clover5120(pre-reresase) at 2020-7/20(19 july) 12:33-JST(about 4hours before).

And all kext was renewed by Goldfish64'site(https://onedrive.live.com/?authkey=!APjCyRpzoAKp4xs&id=FE4038DA929BFB23!455036&cid=FE4038DA929BFB23)

(almost kext update july 20)

And QcQuirks setting below
    Quirks
        AvoidRuntimeDefrag:NO
        DevirtualiseMmio:YES
        DisableSingleUser:NO
        DisableVariableWrite:NO
        DiscardHibernateMap:NO
        EnableSafeModeSlide:YES
        EnableWriteUnprotector:YES
        ForceExitBootServices:NO
        MmioWhitelist Array=0
        ProtectMemoryRegions:NO
        ProtectSecureBoot:NO
        ProtectUefiServices:NO
        ProvideConsoleGopEnable:YES
        ProvideCustomSlide:YES
        ProvideMaxSlide:0
        RebuildAppleMemoryMap:YES
        SetupVirtualMap:YES
        SignalAppleOS:NO
        SyncRuntimePermissions:YES
I have confirmed that Catalina (10.15.6) can be started.
And Big Sur Developers Beta 2 too!

(i7-8700,ASUS-PRIME-H370-A/CSM,16GB(8GB+8GB),MSI RX-570 8GB OC,Pionner BD-209)

EFI4InsanelyMac2007201643.zip

I made a USB installer. At the second boot, it became a loop of program execution failure and it did not work.
I think there are some improvements.

But overall, it's great. Developers are Cool!!

Can you try this setting as mine which worked better than yours ?

I just tested this commit and Catalina works ok but Big Sur seems to have the same issues as before.

Black Screen on booting the installed Big Sur and also the installer unless I change the SMBIOS from iMac15,1 to iMac18,1 also USB 3.0 ports don't work .

apparently nothing serious
maybe recreate your config again from the sample included in clover iso 5120
and obvious, but always better to specify, are you using OcQuirks and OpenRuntime included in Clover 5120?

config-yapan4.plist.zip

config-yapan4.plist.zip

You're right. I probably mixed the OpenCore and Clover drivers. So now I need OcQuirks and OpenRuntime from Clover and appropriate Clover version.
