pkdesign
pkdesign, on 07 Dec 2014 - 4:18 PM, said: I have found two old ioreg dumps from a real MacPro3,1 and if I am not mistaken, when I open them with IORegistryExplorer, the serial number identifier looks like the serial number of the computer with the last three digits repeated in front, i.e XYLCK928AK6XYL (randomly generated with Clovers as an example.) This breaks the 13 and the 17 digit rule. Am I not reading the IOReg correctly? MacPro3,1 and some other Macs made around the same time (I don't know exactly which ones) have 11 digit serial numbers. I'm pretty sure 2010 is when they switched to 13 digits. If you notice when you generate an SMBios for MacPro3,1, it has 11 digits. AFAIk the board serial/mlb is still 17 digits though. Oops, I think I posted the wrong fake serial number throwing my count off. I know that MacPro3,1 will have an 11 digit serial. My question was more about the pattern of the Board serial number. What I found in the ioreg files was something like XYLCK944MWEXYLXYL. This does have 17 digits. So does this mean that all one would have to do is repeat the last three digits in front of a serial generated by Clover and it would mimic the board serial number? At least for serials with only 11 digits.
franmglp
Hi people. I'm trying to install Yosemite and Win 7 UEFI on the same disk using Clover in Legacy mode. I managed to do it before but I don't remember the process. What I'm doing now and what's the problem: 1. Installed Yosemite formatting the disk with 2 partitions: one partition HFS+ for Yosemite and one partition for Win selecting "GUID partition table". 2. Installed Clover on EFI partition (Legacy). 3. When trying to install Win 7 in UEFI mode the installer says something like "You need a GPT partition table to install an EFI operative system and you have MBR". fusion71au
@franmglp, The problem occurs because Disk Utility automatically converts the GPT disk to Hybrid MBR when you add a FAT partition - it assumes you want to install legacy Windows with bootcamp!!! Fix is to convert the disk back to pure GPT (by writing a protective mbr over the hybrid mbr) with GDisk. Overview of GPT and man page of Gdisk (choose option "n" in expert's menu). Good Luck!

alexanderq
Really strange. I see no Microsoft entry in the log. I have the same problem too and i have reported in projectosx. The only way to solve that is to copy hfsplus.efi in drivers folder and it worked only after version 3043.
Dr. Hurt
Nice theme, what is it? Its the integrated theme. You'll get it if you delete the themes in your clover folder. (or maybe the theme entry in the config.plist). I have the same problem too and i have reported in projectosx.The only way to solve that is to copy hfsplus.efi in drivers folder and it worked only after version 3043. warraisraw
Hi, I had the same problem, recently I managed to make the same installation (Win8.1 and OS X 10.10) with Clover in legacy mode. I used this guide, you need install Windows first. Regards. There is a description of the problem. Can be corrected by fdisk Its the integrated theme. You'll get it if you delete the themes in your clover folder. avin7000
Guys I need some advice on my clover config.plist. It seems to be working, but it would be great if you can check it's correct and matches with Chameleon files. My config: Dell XPS L501x, i7 740 (first gen), 4GB RAM, nvdia GT 435M graphics card. My chameleon files: /Extra/smbios.plist: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>SMbiosvendor</key> <string>Apple Inc.</string> <key>SMbiosversion</key> <string>MBP61.88Z.0057.B0C.1102271442</string> <key>SMboardmanufacturer</key> <string>Apple Inc.</string> <key>SMboardproduct</key> <string>Mac-F22586C8</string> <key>SMmanufacturer</key> <string>Apple Inc.</string> <key>SMproductname</key> <string>MacBookPro6,2</string> <key>SMserial</key> <string>W834765J1GA</string> </dict> </plist> /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>EthernetBuiltIn</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1920x1080x32</string> <key>IGPEnabler</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Kernel</key> <string>mach_kernel</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string></string> <key>Legacy Logo</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Theme</key> <string>LoginToLion</string> <key>Timeout</key> <string>2</string> <key>UseKernelCache</key> <string>Yes</string> </dict> </plist> Clover file: At first I downloaded basic config.plist file and modified (added verbose tag and smbios info): <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>ACPI</key> <dict> <key>DSDT</key> <dict> <key>Debug</key> <false/> <key>DropOEM_DSM</key> <false/> <key>Name</key> <string>DSDT.aml</string> <key>ReuseFFFF</key> <false/> </dict> <key>SSDT</key> <dict> <key>DropOem</key> <false/> <key>Generate</key> <dict> <key>CStates</key> <false/> <key>PStates</key> <false/> </dict> </dict> </dict> <key>Boot</key> <dict> <key>Arguments</key> <string>-v dart=0 kext-dev-mode=1</string> <key>DefaultVolume</key> <string>MacHDD</string> <key>Legacy</key> <string>PBR</string> <key>Log</key> <false/> <key>Secure</key> <false/> <key>Timeout</key> <integer>10</integer> <key>XMPDetection</key> <false/> </dict> <key>Devices</key> <dict> <key>Audio</key> <dict> <key>Inject</key> <string>1</string> </dict> <key>FakeID</key> <dict> <key>ATI</key> <string>0x0</string> <key>IMEI</key> <string>0x0</string> <key>IntelGFX</key> <string>0x0</string> <key>LAN</key> <string>0x0</string> <key>NVidia</key> <string>0x0</string> <key>SATA</key> <string>0x0</string> <key>WIFI</key> <string>0x0</string> <key>XHCI</key> <string>0x0</string> </dict> <key>USB</key> <dict> <key>FixOwnership</key> <false/> <key>Inject</key> <false/> </dict> </dict> <key>DisableDrivers</key> <array> <string>Nothing</string> </array> <key>GUI</key> <dict> <key>Hide</key> <array> <string>\EFI\BOOT\BOOTX64.EFI</string> <string>Windows</string> </array> <key>Language</key> <string>en:0</string> <key>Mouse</key> <dict> <key>Enabled</key> <true/> <key>Mirror</key> <false/> <key>Speed</key> <integer>8</integer> </dict> <key>Scan</key> <dict> <key>Entries</key> <true/> <key>Legacy</key> <string>First</string> <key>Tool</key> <true/> </dict> <key>Theme</key> <string></string> </dict> <key>Graphics</key> <dict> <key>Inject</key> <dict> <key>ATI</key> <false/> <key>Intel</key> <true/> <key>NVidia</key> <false/> </dict> </dict> <key>KernelAndKextPatches</key> <dict> <key>AppleRTC</key> <true/> <key>AsusAICPUPM</key> <true/> <key>KernelPm</key> <true/> <key>KextsToPatch</key> <array> <dict> <key>Comment</key> <string>External icons patch</string> <key>Find</key> <data> RXh0ZXJuYWw= </data> <key>Name</key> <string>AppleAHCIPort</string> <key>Replace</key> <data> SW50ZXJuYWw= </data> </dict> </array> </dict> <key>SMBIOS</key> <dict> <key>BiosReleaseDate</key> <string>07/26/10</string> <key>BiosVendor</key> <string>Apple Inc.</string> <key>BiosVersion</key> <string>MBP61.88Z.0057.B0C.1007261552</string> <key>Board-ID</key> <string>Mac-F22589C8</string> <key>BoardManufacturer</key> <string>Apple Inc.</string> <key>BoardType</key> <integer>10</integer> <key>ChassisAssetTag</key> <string>MacBook-Aluminum</string> <key>ChassisManufacturer</key> <string>Apple Inc.</string> <key>ChassisType</key> <string>08</string> <key>Family</key> <string>MacBook Pro</string> <key>Manufacturer</key> <string>Apple Inc.</string> <key>Mobile</key> <true/> <key>ProductName</key> <string>MacBookPro6,2</string> <key>SerialNumber</key> <string>CK121176AGW</string> <key>Trust</key> <false/> <key>Version</key> <string>1.0</string> </dict> <key>SystemParameters</key> <dict> <key>InjectKexts</key> <string>Detect</string> <key>InjectSystemID</key> <true/> </dict> </dict> </plist> Does this look fine? Slice
I have the same EFI folder inside osx partition with only CLOVER folder inside of it and i still have the same problem if i boot with vbox only in drivers folder. If i place HFSPLUS everything inside of drivers folder returns to normal(legacy booting). But sorry, the driver VBoxHFS can't invent a word "Microsoft" if it is not present on a HDD. Search, please! May be files were deleted in past?

jamiethemorris
Has anyone managed to find a solution for clover not autopatching kexts? It seems to happen only when I boot from a drive i don't normally boot from, or after an update. I just updated my Yosemite drive to 10.10.1 and got an appletymce kernel panic. Normally this is not an issue since I'm having clover patch that kext to prevent the panic. But this happens after every update or sometimes when I boot from a different drive and the only solution I have found is booting with a different smbios, running kext utility, and then rebooting again. EDIT: attached my boot log. clover_yos.log.zip
frankiee
Sorry if this may be a stupid question, but how do you prevent Clover from automounting the EFI partition? For me, this simply does not work anymore. Setting Clover.MountEFI in NVRAM does not seem to have any effect anymore. But how is it supposed to work now? Any ideas? Are you sure its Clover thats automounting or could it be the OS? You can test it by creating a USB stick with Chameleon and see if it mounts. From a quick Google search I was brought to the Clover wiki. Try MountEFI=NO as a boot arg. Edited December 11, 2014 by ameris cyning

Normally I would expect the mount EFI options to be adjusted in/from the CloverPrefpane - methinks the config.plist entry you suggest is no longer valid. frankiee
Are you sure its Clover thats automounting or could it be the OS? Why the OS? And this did not happen with former Versions (am on 3050) Normally I would expect the mount EFI options to be adjusted in/from the CloverPrefpane - methinks the config.plist entry you suggest is no longer valid. Yes, the wiki states that the plist setting is deprecated and no longer valid. But also the NVRAM settings do not seem to have any effect anymore. Actually if I use the prefpane, it does only write NVRAM variables if you set the EFI partition to actually mount! If I say "no", the NVRAM variable seems to be actually cleared. But also setting it explicitly to "No" does not seem to have any effect anymore. So, can I assume that this is indeed a Clover bug, and not an user error? Will it be fixed or is there any workaround?
