Riley Freeman
Maybe the only way to get rid of the channel timeouts is to get a kepler card? This seems to have been a fermi issue.
mitch_de
Yep, but since 10.8.1 also some non fermi gpus, like my 9600GT gets those Channel errors under some conditions (a few OpenGL apps fail, most run).
AREOS
No, I check all binary files (inside xxxxx.kext/Contents/MacOS folder). And almost everything is different. Only HAL kexts are the same. bash-3.2$ md5 GeForce (10.8.1 package) MD5 (GeForce) = b9d13d4d45a709870ed411ca2cba4f63 bash-3.2$ md5 GeForce MD5 (GeForce) = d20d7170144740011ea97fde957c7c46 bash-3.2$ md5 GeForceGA (10.8.1 package) MD5 (GeForceGA) = 7ebf40ef8f72c1c9e9492891b88df803 bash-3.2$ md5 GeForceGA MD5 (GeForceGA) = ae0927fce19a6918d59f4891000d43b9 bash-3.2$ md5 GeForceGLDriver (10.8.1 package) MD5 (GeForceGLDriver) = dff13ba397f896373fa2a8b02f481c5a bash-3.2$ md5 GeForceGLDriver MD5 (GeForceGLDriver) = ba1db278b18bc7dedf225043c736c368 bash-3.2$ md5 GeForceVADriver (10.8.1 package) MD5 (GeForceVADriver) = 9f4081d54b02bf497d4a4f80602bc9b3 bash-3.2$ md5 GeForceVADriver MD5 (GeForceVADriver) = dbf41df8bb09f066a0189f16db13b86e bash-3.2$ md5 NVDAGF100Hal (10.8.1 package) MD5 (NVDAGF100Hal) = 03ed08975494e31236d8efaf23301867 bash-3.2$ md5 NVDAGF100Hal MD5 (NVDAGF100Hal) = 03ed08975494e31236d8efaf23301867 bash-3.2$ md5 NVDAGK100Hal (10.8.1 package) MD5 (NVDAGK100Hal) = e9d48df90981e447552335f585ec8368 bash-3.2$ md5 NVDAGK100Hal MD5 (NVDAGK100Hal) = e9d48df90981e447552335f585ec8368 bash-3.2$ md5 NVDANV50Hal (10.8.1 package) MD5 (NVDANV50Hal) = 8d44e127632bfc95a28922d625c5a6bc bash-3.2$ md5 NVDANV50Hal MD5 (NVDANV50Hal) = 8d44e127632bfc95a28922d625c5a6bc bash-3.2$ md5 NVDAResman (10.8.1 package) MD5 (NVDAResman) = 71521511cfa81eaaed9dfc38b5f0503f bash-3.2$ md5 NVDAResman MD5 (NVDAResman) = bd247cf07a2cfef8229cd152a5256d2a bash-3.2$ md5 libclh.dylib (10.8.1 package) MD5 (libclh.dylib) = fce873bb9d8f6ade0d670ee8f30abfc7 bash-3.2$ md5 libclh.dylib MD5 (libclh.dylib) = 41634b9a1561bbc89791762ed5bdedc7 All files extracted form installer and checked via OS X md5 command. Do your tests again... properly. And I don't have any random freezes (GT440). I check the info correctly, I download the retail drivers again and this time the kexts are marked correctly as version 304.00.05f02 and the md5 correspond to the info in your post. I think I downloaded the Drivers too early Well I install the new kext on my 10.8.2 install but the random Freeze issue with Channel Timeout/ Channel Exception remain . So I went back to the ML DP3 kext and frameworks and all is ok again no random Freeze and Resolution/sleep/wake works too. I suppose I´ll stay with this drivers until 10.8.3. Good Luck

tle88
10.8.2 retail drivers 304.00.05f02 and cuda 5.0.36 works well with Asus 9800 GT without any modification. T -.-
mitch_de
Can you run Unique Heaven Benchmark in windowed mode ( not fullscreen) without some freeze? My 9600 GT fails after a few seconds in windowed mode with known OpenGL channel errors in the Nvidia driver. Up to 10.8.0 i had no probs running that great bench in windowed mode. Fullscreen works with no problem. http://www.insanelym...k-now-os-x-107/
khe91
Works for me with 304.00.05f02 on a GTX670 in 800x600 window.
Riley Freeman
No issues here either. 304.00.05f02, CUDA 5.0.36, OpenCL patch.
tle88
To mitch_de.... Actually, indeed, answer is no. Windowed mode "blinking" , not crash and I can quit program with mouse. Damn. Everything seems to be perfect. I have not find any anomalies with any other programs. Tuure -.-
mitch_de
Unique Heaven will get updated in the next 4-6 weeks. Perhaps that will help avaiod probs on some gpus. For me windowed mode and fullscreen+nonnative(smaller) mode freeze/flickers/stalls. MY other App which freezes/stalls is RAGE.
edgar87
I uninstalled these drivers on my MacBook Retina. I had some kind of strange green artifacts on my webcam, when I replaced the old 10.8.2 Nvidia kexts back the problem was solved again!
mitch_de
Yep, i think the Nvidia drivers are often not good for the mobile Nvidia GPUs. Develeoped for MacPro GPU types. May run well on others but not 100% safe in this case.
Riley Freeman
I just got a OpenGL channel timeout when I tried to launch Firefox. Guess I'll go back to the Apple drivers as well.
