I am a little confused abt atheros.

Are we supposed to swap the Intel card with atheros.

I read there is a U.FL vs W.FL issue from Intel to atheros.

Also that some folks were using 2 antennas.

Can someone comment on the exact procedure to replace intel wit atheros. Dose it involve opening the lcd panel as well.

I replaced my kext with yours 68x, but still the audio does not work? What am I doing wrong?

 

I replaced also DSDT.aml file with yours in EFI\ACPI\patched\ .

 

Is this right path for DSDT.aml to replace or should I replace DSDT.aml file also in EFI\ACPI\mini\ folder?

 

To anyone who wants Ivy Bridge power management, you will need to do this:

1. Replace your AppleACPIPlatform kext with mine (it is the default one from 10.8)
2. Replace your DSDT with mine
3. Replace your battery kext with this, https://code.google..../downloads/list
4. You will also need to install the latest AsusNBWMI kext from http://forum.osxlati...asus-notebooks/ (DSDT edits are already done)

I have attached my AppleACPI and DSDT. Most of the FN keys work (F2, F7, F9 will not work). For extended battery life, I recommend using http://forum.osxlati...-battery-power/

Edit:

If anyone is interested in a new kext pack, I have attached it (attached are kexts which I used and software that will help install and monitor your system).


It even does not boot now, see output in verbose mode.

Is pippo's guide still the best way to slap OSX on the zenbook?

 

Clover seems to have some problems with putting the laptop to sleep. Is this just cause of Ivy Bridge's proprietary power management system or does it affect Sandy Bridge chips as well? I'm not sure if Chameleon solves this problem but if it does it's really a no brainier to keep using Clover despite it's more advanced functions.

It is waiting here now.
With xhci disabled and i marked GraphicsInjector in options menu in clover boot menu, if this is what you mean?

So vt-d in BIOS is enabled.

 

I corrupted my osx hfs partition with hfs driver from Windows. So I need to do everything from beginning again.

So I am documenting the steps now.

 

Have you fixed it with your proposed solution? Can you share the patched kext? (BTW: Disable vt-d and it also works.)

After reinstalling Mac OS X again and trying to get it work again, the audio started to work. But unfortunately boot time is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong.

In comparison with my previous Mac OS X installation, which booted in about 3 seconds. But audio did not work there.

 

I am trying to find out what is the issue.

 

Anybody has an idea, please?

Here's my solution : I swapped my card for the atheros one that you linked to on ebay. I then also bought 2 internal laptop antennas that i initially coiled inside the laptop on top of the batteries.

The signal was {censored} poor so I went with a different solution. I bought a hard plastic protective case and i sandwiched the antennas between the screen and the plastic cover.

I just try to resolve long booting time issue. Could somebody help me to resolve this, please? Do not know where should I start, where should I start?

Why it behaves so differently than my first installation?

What is your CPU ? Is it by any chance the Core i7 one ? If yes, do you mind posting your SSDT files as well because for some reason, SLEEP on my UX31A only works sometimes.. Other times, it just locks up the laptop and I have to reboot it..

Looks like I am now booting mac os x fast. Only restarting is slower than used to be in my first installation. Audio is working. Sleep does not work for me yet, it restarts. Changing keyboard light does not work now. I used recent version AsusNBFnKeys.kext 1.6.

Good news for anyone who wants to use the Chameleon bootloader. The latest revisions have fixes for the 3.25GB of RAM issue.

If you want to switch from Clover to Chameleon.

First download the folder (the file name does not have pkg) for Chameleon from here , http://www.osx86.net...2svn-r2233.html). Please note that any Chameleon revision greater than 2233 will have the memory fix.
Next download Chameleon Wizard from here, http://www.insanelym...for-chameleon/.
Also make sure to download my Extra folder, http://www.mediafire...az12j/Extra.zip .

Now let's install Chameleon via Chameleon Wizard.
Extract the Chameleon folder. Now open up Chameleon Wizard, then choose "Folder on disk".

Now choose the folder where you extracted the Chameleon folder. Next, select "Boot0hfs", and choose your target disk. Once you are sure of all the settings are correct, click "Install".
Once you have installed Chameleon, all you have to do is extract my Extra.zip and move my "Extra" folder to / (THE ROOT OF YOUR OSX DRIVE!).


More or less Mac OS X is working on my zenbook now. If sleep would be resolved, that would be nice.

 

Backlight fn keys controls worked in some stage now not. This is minor thing.


I have disabled vt-d now. It boots ok now.

Have you fixed it with your proposed solution? Can you share the patched kext? (BTW: Disable vt-d and it also works.)


How did you resolve different time in Mac OS X and Windows 8?

sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0
Remove the image:
sudo rm /private/var/vm/sleepimage
Create a blanked file:
sudo touch /private/var/vm/sleepimage
Make file immutable:
sudo chflags uchg /private/var/vm/sleepimage

Basically, you disable "safe sleep", remove the sleepimage file, and make it so the system cannot write to it.

One more issue observed. It is not possible to use iCloud or FaceTime, it is not possible to log in. App Store works not possible log in also.

You need a proper a wireless card for Facetime, iCloud, and AppStore. I suggest you spend couple of hours reading this whole thread (start from page 15). A lot of your issues are explained and fixed in the previous thread pages.

 

The FN key issue is an issue with the DSDT. I have a fix for it, however, I have no intention for releasing it until I can find a proper workaround for it.

It works for me in Windows, but I was not able to get it work in Mac OS X.

 

HDMI works perfectly even with the sound on TV.

Your RAM is 4GB compared to 68x's 10GB so that changes things in the DSDT.

 

In Windows:

  • grab iASL
  • run iasl -g to dump your "natural" DSDT
  • compile it with iasl dsdt_Notebook.dsl (or whatever it is on your Zenbook)
  • realise that there's errors to be fixed so go back and fix it (use 68x's DSDT - decompiled of course - as a reference)
  • attempt to compile it again
  • assuming no errors, decompile the just-compiled dsdt: iasl -d dsdt.aml
  • use a file comparison tool to compare the your laptop's "normal" DSDT with 68x's. Beyond Compare is very good but not free or there's the tried-and-true diff -u (yes, you want to use the -u switch) which can be found in pretty much any GNU tools for Windows installer, like msysgit... its output can be redirected to a file and Notepad2-mod can open the diff with syntax-highlighting
You're looking for differences in things like OperationRegions etc. I don't know exactly what changes to look for, since I've only ever used my own DSDT table with my laptop. Find the correct values from your DSDT, put them into 68x's DSDT, compile 68x's DSDT and try booting with the new DSDT table.

I noticed this. But currently I am using USB WIFI, which does not require opening of the zenbook and antenna soldering.

 

I am doing everything simple step by step.

 

I will get to it. Originally I wanted to replace it with Bluetooth 4.0 WiFi, but since not available any suitable option, maybe i will wait and will stay with USB WiFi for now.

Hello everyone, I have installed on my Asus UX32VD ML 10.8 Retail without any problems.


Once installed the ML Bios does not see the SSD to set it as boot, I realized that I do not see why the partition scheme is GUID, if it imposed on MSDOS sees it.


So you will understand that even installing the bootloader on the ssd (where ML is installed) then I have no way to start it, so I tried to install Chimera on a partition located on the second HD in MSDOS, the bootloader is installed correctly, but despite the BIOS sees the HD does not start, giving me back this message "this is not a bootable disk". So for now I can start ML only via usb.

 

What can I do?

I enclose two photos of the Bios for greater clarification, notice to those settings where he speaks of EFI it may be the problem. (The Hitachi HD you see is the magnetic field, ML is installed in San Disk SSD)
