Hello,

I have an XPS 410 - Kalyway 10.5.2. I have tried ABSOLUTELY everything on these forums that I can find about getting audio to work on this. The AppleHDA Audio Patcher doesn't do a thing. I still have no sound icon and it says 'No Output devices found" in the audio control panel.

Anyone else have this problem at all and able to give some suggestions?

It's the only thing keeping me from using OSX full time on this machine.

Thanks

Please Seed. if you need an invite to demonoid PM me i am willing to trade for Blackcat games or Broken Stones

Hey all...

Been awhile since I've been on. Nice to see this thread is still alive.

So, I installed ToH, used the Best Post-Patch, and used Software Update to go to 10.5.1... I used netkas guide to upgrade to 10.5.2, although I used it for 10.5.4. It worked, but then I got the "root device" error rather than MACH_REBOOT. I then restored and tried 10.5.3 with the same method; same result. What am I missing? Why is the update breaking my install. By the way, I'm all vanilla with EFI; havent put in sound or nvinject yet.

Thanks in advance!

You dont need netkas instructions for 10.5.4 it works just fine from software update. And What post patch are you using. I never have had to use any post patch on Toh just had to boot to DVD and bless the drive after installation to get it to boot with out building a bridge from the DVD First. Then use netkas 10.5.2 method and the same for 10.5.3. There is nothing to you have to do with 10.5.4 but click update in software update. So Reinstall Toh then do the upgrades just as i said and it should fix your problem. And how did you use netkas instructions for 10.5.4? There Is no "install at start up" file created. Let me know if you need anything else

Perhaps I'm mistaken in my version numbers; it was a very long day yesterday, but I'm pretty sure it was 10.5.4. I do remember that two errors were trapped in terminal when power management was caught and deleted at 49% (this did not happen with 10.5.3 combo). This was a combo update from 10.5.1 to 10.5.4; not delta. As for the post patch, it was this thread -> http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=75974

I tried to go from 10.5.1 directly to 10.5.3 with a combo update using netkas guide. I will try 10.5.1 -> .2 -> .3 -> Delta 4 tonight and let you know. I appreciate the quick response.

Thanks!

P.s. You state I should go from ToH 10.5 to 10.5.2 using netkas; Should I also get the Vanilla kernel and PC_efi as per your instructions in this thread? -> http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...=0&p=529980

Yes follow thoes steps for the PC EFI and vanilla. If it still does not work try using a different copy of TOH and if still a no go i have Leo4all installed on my other 410 and it works pretty damn good as well.

What a nightmare! I spent hours trying every combination possible. Followed all the instructions to a T, and yet my Dell sat there laughing at me. It thinks "Still searching for root device" is the punch line to some hilarious joke. And like an annoying child it just kept repeating it.

Anyway... so can I run vanilla from Leo4All? Same process more or less?

Thanks in advance!

Yes Leo4all V2 lets you install vanilla right from the disk and it has a alot of drivers and fixes on the disk already. It Seems To Run Pretty Well.

I got Leo4All v3 and installed vanilla (no need to bless the drive - just worked). The nvidia inject worked spot on for my 8800 GT from BFG (what a plus!). Everything seems to be working, but no sound. Taruga's wiki site is suspended, so it's a no go for the patcher. I can't seem to find a version 1.2 anywhere on the net either. I thought the Azailia Audio option from install would have worked, but no joy. Any thoughts? Also, I read that the HDA patcher can mess with shut down on 10.5.4. I'd hate to go get USB audio when I have a perfectly good output panel on back.

What are you using for audio on your Leo4All box? What version: 10.5.2, .3, or .4?

Here is the HDA patcher. This is the one that i use. If no go i can give the premodded kext.

AppleHDAPatcher_v1.15.zip

And My Leo4all is up to date at 10.5.4 and running great.

I'm 10.5.4 with sound and all is well! I could have saved hours just going the Leo4All route to begin with. Oh well. Thanks for all the help bigdaddy.

Anyway... a year ago I tried to get eSata to work on my box but it was a no go. The card had MAC drivers though. I wonder if it would work now? Would be nice to run time machine on an eSata.

What were you doing while you were inside the jail? Hmm, let me guess, I think you were planning the driver for 82566 network card , isn't it?
