aylamrin
I assure you that I am NOT bigdaddy. I'm just saying that he's been a big help. That's all. I just don't see the point in dragging out this conversation any more. If you want to slam bigdaddy, send him pm's. Leave this topic for those who will use it for what its intended purpose is. I don't want anyone to leave this forum, I'm just tired of having to filter past all the bickering just to get what I came to the topic for. If you want to attack bigdaddy, by all means, I'm not hear to stop you. I'm just asking that you respect the intention of the topic and leave it at that. I've said my peice about bigdaddy, he helped me when I needed it. For some reason his helping me was a bad thing, and now it leaves me up for ridicule? That's just retarded. <- it almost looks like he's masturbating, doesn't it??? I never knew you can {censored} like that. Why, do you {censored} like that? And who do you think about while you do so? Your soul-mate bigdaddy, right? My roommate during hostel days developed a "handsfree" technique of doing so, because he did not know what are cell phone headsets. (Even if he knew, I doubt he would have spent on one, being the miser he was ). However, if you still choose to think that he was indeed masturbating I can assure you that he was *not* thinking about your friend messiah while he was doing so (lest you feel jealous). I just wonder how one can get a faithful friend as you these days, bigdaddy is lucky indeed . Talking about the topic, never seen a bigger farce than this. You can't really beat the brains out of people on the Web, so we are cooling our heads like this. You do your part and we'll do ours, please don't preach... and if you think that you have been ridiculed, I'm sorry for that, pleading to you, please do not disgrace yourself any further. MacWantABe
OK. For anyone interested in mounting your XP/Vista NTFS partitions with stable and reliable read/write, download this: Visit My Website You will have to also download MacFUSE, but there's a link to it in the installation instructions included in this package. It works great! Also, DO NOT install the Paragon commercial solution to mounting NTFS to your hackintosh. It's fine for read/write of files, but if you're like me and want to be able to play your library of videos and music, the Paragon NTFS package sucks! Your videos will read too fast and a 3 hr movie will spin by in less than a minute; not to mention that the sound and quality of the video is all messed up. Give it a try, let me know if it works for you.

peyronnx
@frantisheq: I have used the file your posted to create my own apple.boot file with Strings. Everything works great for sound and video. I have yet tested for Time Machine. So my question is the following: do your file is linked to our configuration (I mean do you choose a specific value linked to the hard drive on which you connect Tim Machine) ? MacWantABe
Has anyone been able to get working surround sound out of their stac9227 sigmatel hd audio card yet? All I'm getting is left, right and rear mic. It would be fricken awesome to get rear and center working also. I tried to use my own dump from both Ubuntu and OPENSuSE. I had full surround working in both before dumping to a text file in each Linux OS, but after applying tauruga's patch in Leopard, still nothing different than using the STAC9227_83847618.txt dump. peyronnx
Hello, Any feedback concerning the new Kaly release? Settings, performances, etc. Thanks in advance
czpcgk
Well I've just downloaded the Kalyway 10.5.2 release. Good news: - Sound works finially (but have to apply the patch every time I boot otherwise, no sound...) - Option to not have any 'crapware' - No modified 'About This Mac' screen - My Wireless Driver works (finially) Bad News: - Every once in a while, it will take forever to load an app, and this isn't normal for a 2.4 GHz Quad Core. This happens when I'm watching WMV video (haven't tried any other codecs (using Flip4Mac on my other install worked without a hitch, but this one skips and freezes)). If you leave the system for a while and try to load System Preferences, then it will take a few seconds. Video performance seems to be a little slower too (barely noticible, but I'm using Natit on a 7600 GS on both installs (May be reason for video lag?)). peyronnx
Kalyway 10.5.2 works great. Only the shutdown issue makes me crazy .... I use Vanilla 9.2.2 with no native shutdown. Any idea? Thx
czpcgk
I just use Restart and press the power button at BIOS, its easier than messing with kexts just to get shutdown working when all you need to do is press power.
mrjoe
Well guys, I'm back, long time no see. Some people's quotes aren't linking properly, it seems mods deleted a flame war (?) I got internet working, but not on 82566... I came to the realization that my modem supported USB internet, and went and downloaded necessary drivers... =D So! it's great to be back to the OS X community. jbloggs
Hi All, I'm surprised I missed this thread all this time. I'm very new to the Mac world and I'm trying to learn as much as I can. I have a Dell 9200 (aka XPS410). I have installed Kalyway 10.5.2 on 2nd Drive Maxtor 500GB, 2nd partition (100GB). 1st partition is NTFS 400GB. Any way, After the installation, I had three issues, 1) My Linksys Wireless-G PCI Adapter or the Intel 82566DC NIC doesn't work, 2) the Audio didn't work 3) My Nvidia 7900GS card was not really recognised for 2) I found -> THIS SITE that has a whole bunch of Audio drivers/patchers listed by by Computer brand and the Dell XPS was the compatible for my Dell 9200 which in affect is a XPS 410. For 3) I found NVidia Driver installer at -> THIS SITE which detected my nVidia 7900GS walked me thru a wizard to load the driver. Now both the Sound and Graphics card are working great. Now to either get the "Linksys Wireless-G PCI adapter" or the built-in "Integrated Intel 82566DC Gigabit Network Connection" working. I connected to the built-in NIC and using Terminal utility I'm able to ping to my router but when I go to the network settings it does not let me turn on/activate the NIC. I tried to choose the DHCP setting and save but it never gets saved. As for the Linksys Wireless-G PCI Adapter it just isn't even recognised. By just reading the sigs of people here I understand that there is not a way to get the Intel built-in NIC working, but has anyone been able to get the Linksys Wireless-G PCI adapter working? I don't know the chipset on the wireless card but will try to find out. TIA
mrjoe
currently 82566 ISNT working, however, wireless-g MIGHT work, I don't have one, I don't know... frantisheq: after the 82566 issues i just left. mrjoe
ok guys i know that you're going to say "PRESS TEH ****ing SEARCH BUTTON" but i don't know which new distribution works for XPS 410... so have any of you reinstalled or are you all using your own original 9a581 DVD, then had added EFI, and 10.5.1, and 10.5.2 by updating? slave-zeo
Well I've just downloaded the Kalyway 10.5.2 release. Good news: - Sound works finially (but have to apply the patch every time I boot otherwise, no sound...) The Kalyway 10.5.2 installed like a dream for me, too. no issues and it installed fast. Ive noticed this sound issue too. For some reason the sound doesn't work after a reboot, BUT the device still shows up and appears to be there. It also has the little volume control widget on the menu bar. just no workie. Aside from not rebooting does anyone have any idea what to do about this ?
