Although i can understand why he's angry that no one believes him. Sure if i made a driver for a network card then of course i'd keep it to myself, show no proof of it working, give people versions that don't work and don't make sense, have loads of reasons for why it is taking so long and still have nothing to show for it three months later.

 

Oh and of course being such an intellectual genius with hardware i wouldn't be able to figure out simple things like why a mac graphics card won't work on a PC. Similar to how super intellectual mathematicians can't do simple math any more. His brain is too far evolved for us puny little mindless twits.

I am back with questions

 

First of all, thanks a lot frantisheq for all your precious advices concerning EFI Strings, now my Dellintosh is EFI: GFX, SFX, TM/UUID like you.

Only one difference : my videocard is a Geforce 7900 GS, but I fixed the plist file to fix it => everything works !

I found a new AppleHDA.kext that makes another model Sigmatel chip audiocard work with mute function, I will test tonight and post feedbacks.

 

2. Wich the best kernel for our common PC? Vanilla 9.2.0, the new ones from Netkas with speestep, etc? Any improvments to fix all the sleep bugs? Any recommendation on that topic?

vanilla worked best for me. including sleep but no speedstep (can't see the difference if it works or not) and it gave me HPET error. with speedstep kernel - no HPET error but no sleep

 

EDIT: just installed TM update w/o any problems so now i'm on vanila. not sure if kernel version changed but here's a screenshot

HPET error - it has something to do with AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement or AppleACPIPlatform. no idea

Just thought I'd throw an update in here for everyone.

 

I've bought an ATi Radeon HD3850 for my Dell as well as an Encore card that has the RTL8169 chipset. It was supposed to be the 8139 chipset, but the 8169 works just fine apparently so I'm happy.

 

So now I'm about to do a fresh install and see what I can do about getting Vanilla kernel and EFI working so that I can actually do proper updates without killing the OS.

Hey guys, I decided to give OSX another shot in my Dell XPS 410. I tried TOH RC2 over and over but just could not get any updates applied correctly. For some reason, even though it would never work for me before, I used the Kalyway 10.5.1 disc and had success! From there I installed Taruga's 1.16 audio patch, netkas' latest natit.kext for my ATI HD 2600 PRO 256mb (DVI is fully working with this kext!), then 10.5.2 and software updates. I disregarded all the security updates and the graphix update.

 

Now that you know where I'm coming from, I have a problem that I can't figure out. When I try to play a DVD movie, I get the following error:

"There was as initialization error. A valid video device could not be found for playback. [-70017]"

 

Any suggestions? Has anyone else had this problem?

I'm using the onboard SigmaTel 9227 and I've tried the Tarugas HDA patcher, but it's not seeming to work.

 

I've heard that the issue could be my Radeon HD3850 since it also has an onboard soundchip for the HDMI.

 

Anyone have any ideas on how to make this play nice?

Someone in the HDA area gave me the dump directly from their card that is working in Leopard and told me to use 1.16 as it appears that the later versions don't work correctly and now I have sound working.

 

So now I have Leo4all updated with PPF 1 installed and it has allowed me to use Software update perfectly for every single item without fail.

 

So now I'm up to Kernel 9.2.2 with my Radeon HD3850 working perfectly driving 2 monitors with Full OpenGL, QE, CI, and all up and running, and now I have sound and it all boots smooth.

 

Very Very happy camper finally.

You didn't mention that in the PM.

That 10%, does it establish a working connection or it just doesn't show the cable disconnected problem?

 

If the latter you are probably farther away from a working driver than you think. You can graft parts of the linux driver into the other SmallTree network driver and get this result/behaviour but it would need much more. Obviously without seeing any code or knowing what you have done its really hard to give clearer more useful answers.

 

bigdaddyrob2g, like I mentioned some time ago, you need to ignore these personal posts. Quoting your resume or how successful you are isn't going to help your cause and most likely will just encourage more taunting posts. (P.S. I can trump those so can I speak? )

 

Whether you release anything to anyone is your business, (unless you are modifying parts of a GPL driver), but for the most part people are in this forum to get help.

Sure did! Has anyone tried Paragon's NTFS for OS X, or NTFS-3g? I'm running Paragon's NTFS driver. It mounts my NTFS drives well, I have read and write, but for some reason whenever I try to play a video off of my NTFS drive, I get errors. I've tried to play the videos in flip4mac/quicktime, vlc, mplayer, etc... If I copy the videos to my hfs partition, they play great. Anyone else have this problem? If so, have you found a solution? Does this occur with NTFS-3g?

And you'll see that that you would not find a better place where we can come together and exchange our thoughts, ok, just kidding. But seriously, why should *you* quit because of somebody? You'll see someday, if Krishna wants we would not need a driver made from copy+paste code, or Smalltree or whatever, because we'll have it from the Appletree itself.

 

Also, do not worry about somebody running away from the group, because for somebody who is so much crazy about publicity (negative or whatever), how can he even live without all these publicity? i agree you know i have a feeling that nearly all XPS410 issues have been already solved before bigdaddy appeared to save us all just read through this thread and don't ask the same questions again and again so from my point of view our only problem here is bigdaddyrob2g and how to get rid of him and ppl that did nothing here except saying how childish or ignorant we all are and what a great person 'he' is. bigdaddyrob2g was releasing that driver for 4 months but all he released was a driver that's already included in IONetworkingFamily.kext or a combination of those kexts and called us f...ers afterwards so PLS give us at least 4 months to make a motherf... idiot from him like he did from us all. i'm sure it'll get borring after some time but not yet. thanks for your understanding
