czpcgk
I have 3 physical drives, and one drive had Leopard and XP installed on it. I've never tried Bless Where's the attached injector/AppleHDA and what is S/L/E it also works sometimes with 1.3 patcher and my knoppix dump. If you want it, just say the word... And yes, could you PLEASE give us the startupitem to copy/delete the AppleHDA and ALCinject. Just one question about it: does it give you sound when you reboot, or do you have to patch it manually with Taruga's patcher? Hopefully you can make it so that it automatically applies the patch at boot. Please tell us how your seperate disk install goes. How do you enable AHCI in Dell BIOS? aylamrin
OK guys, time to be practical, lets think over... What we might possibly do to get the wretched LAN working?... 1. Buy a new LAN card, 2. Buy another mobo (not an option for notebook users), 3. Depend on somebody forever. We have tried all of them, didn't we? Whoever has exercised option 2 need not read this post, congratulations with your new board. However, for the rest of us, what to do? May I suggest that we hire a driver writer, a good one, a real driver writer I mean, who would demonstrate some credibility. And all of us, who would like to get their cards working, may contribute something to his account, I mean look at Taruga, he did not ask us to contribute ,but people contributed out of love, respect, gratitude, whatever. P.S: I just hope if we do manage to do that, then GOD would save him from friend loss/being marooned/lack of Internet access/car crashes etc. ... and of course after he manages to survive all that, he would come up with a good (not renamed) driver and he would distribute it to all of us in the forum and not to "someone special". Here it is http://rapidshare.com/files/95154956/HDAPa...upItem.zip.html Well, everything you need is in the archive. You must unzip in /Library/StartupItems and repair permissions. After reboot, the ALCinject/AppleHDA that work for me are copied to /System/Library/Extensions. You'll have to apply manually Taruga HDAPatcher 1.20 with your codec after each boot : quite boring ! When shutdown is in progress the two ALCinject/AppleHDA are deleted from Extensions. I've tried to automatically apply HDAPatcher in startupitem but it does not work silentely and ask to enter authentication and close the main window. The AHCI is enabled in the "drive options" of the XPS 420 bios... But your 9200 may not have this option ? I don't know. I wait for my new 320G drive to be shipped... Then I'll do a clean install of a Kalyway 10.5.1 + ComboUpdate 10.5.2. I'll have space enough for TM to be usefull and hope my EFI strings will work to get rid of these injectors. Morpheus Phreak
ok thought I'd post an update here as well as one more request for help. bigdaddyrob managed to get me squared away with instructions that were for the RC2 build of Leopard which I managed to grab and get to install. The install completes successfully, but now I'm stuck in an infinite keyboard not recognized loop. Basically it boots and then says it couldn't recognize my keyboard, has me press the z and / keys and then says it detected the keyboard, and sure enough on all the prompts following the keyboard works. Then it asks me if I'd like to transfer any data from an old install. I tell it no thanks and press continue. Then it seems to hang for a while and then the screen telling me the keyboard cannot be detected which then leads to me detecting the keyboard, and then it asks me if I want to transfer data, blah blah ad nauseum, ad infinitum. Any ideas for how to get past this, minus a different keyboard? This is the stock Dell keyboard so it should work in my opinion. As you all know the XPS410 has no legacy ports so I can't use any of other older keyboards. Update - OK I managed to get the iAtkos 1.0iR2 to install and work by repairing my permissions using a script on the ToH RC2 disk that I mentioned above, but it does not have EFI, nor the Vanilla kernel. Now from everyones personal experience here should it work if I update the kernel and EFI using the latest builds or is this going to be a trial by fire? Also it appears that I'll have to buy a new video card as no one has managed to ever get working x1300 drivers for my particular DeviceID working More money that they wife will be ticked at me spending on this endeavor

I'll try that next time I reboot into Leopard, but can you add the Taruga automatic patching function anyways? I don't care if its not silent or you have to close the window or whatever, I just need to remember to keep patching every time I boot, and this will help greatly. I'm sure this will help everyone else as well. What is the "ideal" way to repair permissions. I use Disk Utility to do it, but is it the same thing as chown and chmod? Disk Utility probably just takes longer to repair permissions, right? I don't believe that I have "drive options" in my BIOS, I'll have to check later. Please tell us how your fresh drive install goes. If everything works, can we have your EFI strings and your boot.plist? I might also do an install on a clean drive if it works for you. I had this problem too, but I found out that the easiest way to get past this is to go through it SLOWLY (read all the options and text, etc then move on) and when it goes back to the video and keyboard not recognized error, Power down your system. A cold boot usually fixes this for me, but you might have already solved it, right? By the way, I may or may not have mentioned this, but my GFXUtil strings in boot.plist didn't work. Any insight, please? I can give you my full boot.plist once I get back into Leopard. Just ask, and I'll probably do it (I'm working on a {censored} Biology project and I need Word and an Internet connection, which Leopard does not currently have working for me. )

Morpheus Phreak
Stupidity has no excuse!I see by your posts that you always quote people, is it because you cannot come up with ANY ideas of your own! Next time before you attack someone first make sure of their credentials, ie, if you don't know me don't presume I "don't know Jack"! SticMAN I agree that stupidity has no excuse, and before you state a qualifier like "always" you should make sure that it happens in each and every post. I quote people at specific times, and the fact that I can effectively quote shows that I am well read. Now please, just for the sake of my sporting sense of fun, tell me what your credentials are. Then I can test you based upon your credentials, and we can see who is the stupid one. Trust me this is not a route you wish to go down with me

This is not a thread about who's "politically" correct or not, it's about helping people with their OSX86 problems (right? (or left)). Agreed, that's why I feel that people who don't know what they are talking about should never pretend that they do. I can't help if after I point out that an individual doesn't know what they are doing that they try to retaliate. However, I can help the fact that I find it humorous, I just don't wish to

manlau
manlau i had to use windows boot loader and easybcd to dual boot with 2 sata drives OK I've found... In fact that was my temporary two Leo installs that blocks me to boot on the second one (tboot stop after the first OSX). Now that I've finished with Kalyway I removed my previous Iaktos and everything works fine (at least for dual boot) with Vista bootloader and the help of tboot. manlau
Hi everyone, I need your help, one again ... This Sigmatel 9227 is driving me crazy ! I have a working EFI now with Leo installed on a secondary disk (at least I could see some changes with GFX strings for my ATI 2600 XT even if it doesn't work for now totally). But I can't make SFX work... and I still can't make ALCinject work too (except when booting with no ALC/HDA extension and copy these into S/L/E and then apply HDAPatcher 1.2 with a XPS 420 codec file found here). I'm now Kalyway 10.5.1 + 10.5.2 combo and graphics update and netkas latest kernel... Thanks for your answers

czpcgk
czpcgk Did you upgrade your video card? or is it the one it shipped with? I bought a GeForce 8500 gt and shortly after the install i had the same issues as you. The Sound Stopped Working, And would not resume with any of the patches. I Put My Shipping card back in and my sound started to work again. Can you watch videos on you tube? Mine Started only playing the first 2 or 3 seconds and stopping. Yes, I upgraded my video card to a 7600 GS. The machine came with an 8300 GS, but I scrapped that to put in a media center machine (for its superior PureVideo). No I cannot watch videos on YouTube without it skipping. Actually, it even happens with all videos that are encoded in Flash, I think because I cannot watch any videos on Metacafe without them skipping. I can't put the stock videocard cause it just sucks too much, and I use this machine for demanding games as well (next-gen as well as last-gen (EX: HL2, CSS, Source Games, F.E.A.R., COD4, Peggle (laugh if you want, but its FUN!), and the like)). czpcgk
My videocard is on the supported list, and I MIGHT buy an 8800 GT sometime later. MAYBE. My PSU is about 400 watts or higher, so it DOES support my videocard. How does a different videocard affect sound? If it makes a difference, I use the Natit drivers. I used to use Titan, but since Natit works better, I started using that. Don't tell me to revert back to Titan.

Bobur
Well i'm annoyed. I bought 4GB (2x2GB) ram for my XPs 410 (D9200) and you know what? It worked! Do ya know what i did then? I put in my 2 1GB dell sticks, and guess what? It worked! I now currently have 6GB installed in my computer. So much for the 4GB limit! Unfortunately i've already sold those other sticks to a friend so i'll be back to 4GB soon. Now i'm interested to know if it will actually go up to 8GB. Guys I have a mac pro with 2600 XT, But For Some Reason The XT wont work in My 410 or 720. Any One Know Why? I know its supported its in the mac pro?!!!! peyronnx
I am back with questions First of all, thanks a lot frantisheq for all your precious advices concerning EFI Strings, now my Dellintosh is EFI: GFX, SFX, TM/UUID like you. Only one difference : my videocard is a Geforce 7900 GS, but I fixed the plist file to fix it => everything works ! Wonderful, I am so happy! Now, my questions : 1. Do you know if someone succeeded in working the mute function with our Sigmatel 9227? I found a new AppleHDA.kext that makes another model Sigmatel chip audiocard work with mute function, I will test tonight and post feedbacks. 2. Wich the best kernel for our common PC? Vanilla 9.2.0, the new ones from Netkas with speestep, etc? Any improvments to fix all the sleep bugs? Any recommendation on that topic? Thanks a lot in advance for your feedbacks Bye

Probably because a flying pig will fly into the power lines outside your house and cause a massive black out! Anyway though. I thought this computer wasn't supposed to be able to handle over 4GB's. I'd run OSX but i killed my install going to 10.5.
