mrjoe
the 19th: still no 82566 kext. Well, I think I lost hope. Bigdaddyrob2g didn't HAVE to release the driver, but I was counting on it ..
Selayan
I have read this whole forum and I still can not install Leo on the XPS 410. I get "waiting for root device." I am using the Brazilmac SL Dvd. I opened up my xps and looked inside to move things around but Im not sure wat to do. I have a dvd drve, a dvd-rw drive, and one hard drive. I think they are all SATA and they look like they are connected like a picture that I saw here on page 11 or so. The only version I was able to install was Kalyway 10.4.10 and everything worked without the internet card as all of you have stated. How can I get Leo working, do I need to open it up and plug and unplug some of the SATA cables? I have the raid/ata option set in my Bios when I tried to boot from the dvd. Can someone post a pic of how it should look connected in their xps 410 (the hard drive and the dvd drives)??
AnthonyA
There is a kext that enables the sata support...... PM me your email and i'll email it to you when i get home
Selayan
I PM'ed with the info. Hopefully the NIC card drivers will be uploaded sometime in the near future. If that would work then I wouldnt mind using Tiger at all..but without internet I dont use the pc that much. Sucks that Dells are configured in such way..I literally unplugged and plugged back in the SATA cables into different ports and still could not get to the installer on the cd without no root device hehe. Thats how I got the leopard flat image installed.... I haven't been able to get home yet....... On the cd, when you plug it in, make sure it is on the sata port 2, I think....... but I can't remember what port....... I will pm you it if i can (don't know if i can do that but just send me your email just in case! )
Selayan
Yeh I had the hard drive in SATA 0 and the dvd drive in SATA 1 and I had in the bios set to ATA/Raid. But that didnt work either. Maybe if I get the kext I wont neeed to change anything. There are other releases coming too so I will try everything lol.
Selayan
Sorry if Im a bit late but what driver are you developing? I have an xps 410 but it has a gigabit ethernet card...is this wat you are working on? I think most dells have that too. But I hope that this will be a somewat universal network driver that would be excellent.
AnthonyA
this is for the onboard NIC...... I emailed you those kexts, for leo, only put on the "pata.sata.pkg" one. If you put the other on, it will not find a root device.

Ikahrus
Hey guys, I'm a long time lurker, yet first time poster (and a complete and utter hackintosh newbie). I've been keeping an eye on this thread for quite sometime, as I have a Dimension 9200. Tonight after running into many installation and dualboot problems over the week I can finally say I have Leopard running on my system. However I have my installation is incomplete, I'm missing a number of kexts to get the system running good and proper. I've had a look around with no luck, so I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. (of course i realise the rules on linking to some sources). I'm mainly concerned about my graphics card and audio, the rest I am more than happy to wait for, especially this 82566DC solution. Thanks in advance. AnthonyA
LOL! Probably not! When do you think that will be? Well first, bigdaddyrob2g is going to release the NIC kext soon. The audio fix is also in his signature. If you install PC EFI though, make sure you patch the audio before you use the vannal kext. If you don't, the patcher won't run anymore. And for your video issue, just search the forums and ask around. I'm sure it is around somewhere
