sorry but i don't have much time right now.

create second partition on Leopard HDD

restore Snow Leopard DVD to that partition and add this to snow leopard appleahciport.kext

		<key>ICH8RAHCI</key>
	<dict>
		<key>CFBundleIdentifier</key>
		<string>com.apple.driver.AppleAHCIPort</string>
		<key>Chipset Name</key>
		<string>ICH8R/DO/DH 6 port SATA AHCI controller</string>
		<key>IOClass</key>
		<string>AppleAHCI</string>
		<key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key>
		<string>0x28218086</string>
		<key>IOProbeScore</key>
		<integer>2000</integer>
		<key>IOProviderClass</key>
		<string>IOPCIDevice</string>
		<key>Vendor Name</key>
		<string>Intel</string>
	</dict>
	<key>ICH8RRAID</key>
	<dict>
		<key>CFBundleIdentifier</key>
		<string>com.apple.driver.AppleAHCIPort</string>
		<key>Chipset Name</key>
		<string>ICH8-R SATA RAID Controller</string>
		<key>IOClass</key>
		<string>AppleAHCI</string>
		<key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key>
		<string>0x28228086</string>
		<key>IOProbeScore</key>
		<integer>2000</integer>
		<key>IOProviderClass</key>
		<string>IOPCIDevice</string>
		<key>Vendor Name</key>
		<string>Intel</string>
	</dict>

now install chameleon rc3 on usb flash drive and replace your files with these but don't forget to edit com.apple.boot.plist and platformuuid.kext info.plist in Extra to match your UUID of snow leopard partition, EFI strings and rd=your_snow_leopard_partition

Archive.zip

that's it. reboot and set your BIOS to use AHCI mode and boot from USB flash drive. oh and remember to turn off your second HDD and DVD drive in BIOS because they just won't work and you pc won't shutdown.

if you get "unable to find mach_kernel error" just press arrow in chameleon to highlight another partition, then again to select Snow Leopard and it should boot now

if i were you i would better wait for appleintelpiixata. xnu sources have been released and i believe DuNe will release update very soon

if you have to use vmware fusion like me use 32bit mode. there are no 64bit vmware drivers yet. i was using 64bit mode and 32 bit mode with 8GB RAM and there was simply no difference no speed up. i know it's sexier to use 64bit :D but if i don't have "terabytes" of memory it's just useless

offtopic but this new mediastreamsgmenter included in snow leopard is just working great. i'm now streaming satellite TV to my iPhone through vmware Fusion -> Windows 7 -> MediaPortal to VLC on OSX -> mediastreamsegmenter and i love it. i can switch channels through iPhone too :P who needs SlingBox

So I have been successful in installing iAtkos V7 on my xps 410 but I am having a hard time configuring :

* Graphic Card: Nvidia 7300 LE 256MB

* NIC: (Intel? Gigaethernet): I can get ethernet but the connection drops when I am downloading something.

Could you point me to the best way to make sure that this works the way it should?

Thank you!

disable DVD and secondary HDD in BIOS. in AHCI mode second HDD or DVD is working only if your Mac OS HDD is doing something like moving files for example. if the first HDD stops Mac OS is unable to work with second HDD and you'll most likely get the pin wheel. that's why will need to use IDE mode with driver from DuNe. Or some patched AHCI driver but i haven't seen any. until then no timemachine on second hdd, no DVD/CD

Hello,

I have almost the same setup as you but my graphics card is an Nvidia 7300LE 256MB. I can't get it configured properly with iAtkos v7. Can you help?

Thanks,

Ramy

Hello everyone! After allot of frustration and research, i was finally able to get iATKOS v7 DVD 10.5.7 for Intel/AMD working!

To begin with, you must enter your BIOS (F2 at startup), find your way down to the drive's section and change your drive settings from RAID to Automatic/Raid (Windows wont like this)...

Restart

Upon startup enter F12 and select to boot from your CD drive (Assuming that is where your installation disk is)

Once the disk starts booting up enter F8 for more options and you want to type "-v cpus=1" without the quotation

Once the installer has initiated, you will want to open disk utility and erase your drive using MacOS Extended (Journaled)... (this is assuming you want to wipe your drive clean)

Select the drive then continue

Next screen on the bottom left hand side of the installer their should be an options button... Here are the options i selected...

>iATKOS v7 main system

>Bootloader

-Chamelion V2

>X86 Patches

-/Extra Directory

-DSDT

-Decryptors

--Apple Decrypt

--dsmos

-Disabler

-OHR

-RemoveTyMCE

>Drivers

-VGA

--nVidia

---EFI String for nVidia

----DVI/DVI

---Enablers

----NVEnabler

-System

--SATA/IDE

---AHCI

---Intel SATA/IDE

--Sound

---VoodooHDA

>Post-install actions

Select next once youve selected this (Or your own custom choice of options)

Install took about 30 min

Let the system reboot on its own....

Once it does i had to wait for it and upon the Chameleon V2 boot loader screen i struck a key for options and entered "-v CPUS=1"

CONGRATS! Your XPS410 should be working fine!

Not sure how the onboard NIC is functioning as i have another nic installed, and i am also using an nVidia 7900GS card which has QE/CI enabled!

Feel free to ask questions and i will answer back if i can... Dont feel shy to respond to someone else's either!

I actually have some questions of my own.... Should i have installed VooDoo Kernel? Or even Speed Step? i wanted to but i was a little weary as this install is amazing and didnt want to toy with it

well i was talking about it with theStevo. it looks like a bug in chameleon

Hey,

Just wanted to let you know that I talked to Kabyl about this and he said he wasn't aware of it. He make look into it if he has time. He said that most likely there were some changes in disk.c or sys.c that is causing the problem. He said something about disk access codes. I wasn't able to find anything that looked like it may be the source of the trouble, but I'm still looking into it. If I figure out where the problem is I'll compile a new version and put it out there.

theStevo

no i didn't. i wrote about it but it looks like nobody from chameleon team is trying to solve this problem so i have to boot from USB flash in AHCI. when the new AppleIntelPIIXATA from Dune comes out i'll boot in IDE mode because my second HDD and DVD doesn't work in AHCI (no TimeMachine then) so it's not a really big problem for me

Hey man,

As you may have ran across on hackintosh-related forums, I have an E520 which is basically a low end XPS410. Since I know you watch the Chameleon site, I was wondering if you've ever talked to anyone (Kabyl) about the boot error when trying to boot in AHCI? It is annoying as hell, but I didn't want bother anyone if the subject has been broached or the problem is not currently fixable. I know RC3 is out, but there wasn't any information related to this in the list of updates.

Thanks,

theStevo

get a really big file (a few gigabytes) on Desktop. now make a copy of it on the Desktop and while the first HDD is copying the second HDD and DVD will work w/o any problems. crappy solution but it works :( or run some command in the terminal that will work with your Mac OS HDD for a very long time
