Just a quick question, it's not really an OSX related question but a 9200/410 question.

I've been thinking of upgrading my processor in my 9200 from a Core 2 Duo (2.13ghz) to a Core 2 Quad. I've read that it's possible without having to also change the mobo, but anything above the Q6700 isnt compatible. I'm just wondering if anyone has done this? and can confirm the Q6700 thing.

Been a while since you posted this but i never saw it :D

I put a Q6600 into mine and it works a treat. The Q6700 is just a faster chip (2.66GHz versus 2.4GHz) so should work aswell.

Wow, bringing this back from the dead!

Well ive been running Kallyway's 10.5.1 release for well over a year now and being that its my only computer i've pretty much left it as is! She has been purring along fine running XP on VMWare for some time now.

Thought it was about time to update so i picked up a larger HDD and decided to make the plunge and install a copy of iATKOS v7 DVD 10.5.7 for Intel/AMD on the disk... I did and it went through the install but upon reboot i got an error similar to (Not exact)

Disk0:

Disk1: Error

Can anyone help me work around this?

Disk boots fine (No commands used)... Once i get to the install disk i format with "Extended Journaled" right? And she goes allong...

Should i be doing something else??

Please and Thanks for the help! Very much appreciated

And can someone please clarify what Voodoo and chamelion are (Should i have them? Both?) and SpeedStep? I checked and its off. (Turn it on?) lol... Please excuse my ignorance, ive been out of the game for WAY TOO LONG

Specs available below! smile.gif

Well im back up and running with 10.5.2 Kalyway (old faithful)... ive tried doing several updates to no avail, i just brick the install and im tired of having to re install (done it well over 5 times already haha)... Can anyone help me with a guide to install an update? 10.5.7 Preferably? thanks

Also how do i know if speedstep is actually working? I enabled it in my BIOS and it seems to be running faster? I think, that or its just my but dyno telling me im going allot quicker... Mind tricks, erg!

One last thing... I want to set up a back up drive... I have two identical 150gig sata drives inside but only one plugged in... Will osx recognize the second if i plug her in? Thanks!

Hello everyone! After allot of frustration and research, i was finally able to get iATKOS v7 DVD 10.5.7 for Intel/AMD working!

To begin with, you must enter your BIOS (F2 at startup), find your way down to the drive's section and change your drive settings from RAID to Automatic/Raid (Windows wont like this)...

Restart

Upon startup enter F12 and select to boot from your CD drive (Assuming that is where your installation disk is)

Once the disk starts booting up enter F8 for more options and you want to type "-v cpus=1" without the quotation

Once the installer has initiated, you will want to open disk utility and erase your drive using MacOS Extended (Journaled)... (this is assuming you want to wipe your drive clean)

Select the drive then continue

Next screen on the bottom left hand side of the installer their should be an options button... Here are the options i selected...

>iATKOS v7 main system

>Bootloader

-Chamelion V2

>X86 Patches

-/Extra Directory

-DSDT

-Decryptors

--Apple Decrypt

--dsmos

-Disabler

-OHR

-RemoveTyMCE

>Drivers

-VGA

--nVidia

---EFI String for nVidia

----DVI/DVI

---Enablers

----NVEnabler

-System

--SATA/IDE

---AHCI

---Intel SATA/IDE

--Sound

---VoodooHDA

>Post-install actions

Select next once youve selected this (Or your own custom choice of options)

Install took about 30 min

Let the system reboot on its own....

Once it does i had to wait for it and upon the Chameleon V2 boot loader screen i struck a key for options and entered "-v CPUS=1"

CONGRATS! Your XPS410 should be working fine!

Not sure how the onboard NIC is functioning as i have another nic installed, and i am also using an nVidia 7900GS card which has QE/CI enabled!

Feel free to ask questions and i will answer back if i can... Dont feel shy to respond to someone else's either!

I actually have some questions of my own.... Should i have installed VooDoo Kernel? Or even Speed Step? i wanted to but i was a little weary as this install is amazing and didnt want to toy with it

ok i can confirm that Stellarola´s CMOS reset fix works for XPS410 but i´m unable to boot no matter what i do. tried to add dev ID to AppleAHCIport.kext in AHCI mode, then i have tried IOATAfamily.kext for 10.5.7 in IDE mode but the result was always the same: SerialATAPI device reconfiguration did not complete successfully and Waiting for bla bla bla

For real guys Logan Utah has a work release program you work your work day and go backto the jail at night. I got busted on for pot and got a year they are strict here I just. Got my iPhone back and figured I'd check on the mac world I know there is hard feelings but one of the things I have learned is when u say u are going to do something do it don't half ass it and make excuses and that's exactly what I did to this day a year later I have a bunch of half finnished drivers at home. Just give me some time and a chance to help out and do some good stuff I'm sorry for the put offs and bull.

Thanks Rob G, your solution is mine ;)
Thanks Frantisheq for your answer, but the voodooproject is incompatible with my souncard ;)

In conclusion, i've installed Chameleon RC2 and with the solution of "Rob G", i've patched the HDA kext and copied the 3 kexts in the /Extra/Extensions directory (HDAenabler, AppleHDA(Patched) and ALCinject).

I've Launched the command line : kextcache -a i386 -m /Extra/Extensions.mkext /Extra/Extensions.

Now, the sound works perfectly !

10a380 was giving me Still waiting for root device error so i have downloaded 10a421 DVD and it's the same. 64bit mode gives me kernel panic and 32bit mode is waiting for root device. i have tried everything - patched kexts for leopard, added dev id's to snow leo kexts, kexts that are installed with Chameleon2 but it was always the same

tried to boot 10a421 in AHCI mode after i have added dev id's to appleahciport.kext

post-96681-1249923975_thumb.jpg

EDIT: good news! i was able to boot once in AHCI in 64bit. all i had was grey screen and moving mouse cursor but better than nothing. i can't make it boot again though ;)

EDIT2: i was able to boot once again in AHCI with: SMBIOSdefaults=No -x64 -x -v

EDIT3: and another boot in IDE mode just with -v. booted fine in 64bit but again just gray screen and mouse cursor

chameleon2RC1 with latest boot from netkas

dsdt with stellarola's CMOS reset fix

AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext from netkas - i have added dev id 2820 because it wasn't there

for AHCI just add 2821 to appleahciport.kext

dsmos from netkas

snow leopard 10a421 DVD restored to GUID partition

64bit NullCPUPowerManagement

boot uuid in com.apple.boot.plist

it boots randomly (10-20 resets and just one boot) and no installer
